  1. hi Dave the new gtr will be caged & rally rego, & limited mods for now so i can play at targa & other events, will not stop us looking for power though and trying to find the limits of things like the drivetrain.
  2. george we were thinking about it but probably not as we would have to change the exhaust for the sound issue so proably QR for us next for test.
  3. that would crazy fast to drive!!
  4. yes i should have stated that, if your fuel tanks in the boot or hydraulic systems (4wd systems) and oil lube systems they need to be sealed off.
  5. hey Mark i think dave was thinking about putting a second bar under the dash but i think decided against it ( not sure why, though probably more to do with berry wants the bloody thing home to get stuck into building it:) ) it will be good to see your take on it. and you are right, not sure whether the r34 will ever run as a sports sedan or just purely time attack ( which was original plan) , he has kept it low so we can get in and out a bit easier but i guess you never know when someone is going to try and come throught the drivers door, especially being carbon. cheers russ i think the cage should be pretty strong , i have seen his worked tested out many times before, as i used to mechanic for stewart reid a rally competitor & he tested out quite a few of dave's cages!! including this one , second car in the vid (white evo 6) in tassie http://www.compfused.com/directlink/281/

  7. yeah would be a shame to let that car go harry , even if you have to moth ball it for a bit
  8. yep sealed rear firewall is a requirement. and a good rear firewall area helps with strength too
  9. cheers thanks for that Harry BTW have i told you how much i love your car!! and i would buy it if my wife wouldnt leave me
  10. no, rear wiper wont be going back in.
  11. bloody hell bozman! that is super quick! they will be awsome to see!
  12. hi mark the pics i have i will post, havent got any going through the firewall as dave was just doing that the other day and didnt get any reals pics, but will post what i have. dave said it was an absolute bitch coming throught the front too! and you are right about strengthening the front as much as you can, they move around like a bitch!! heres the pics i have here a car in japan, i was looking at, and you can see what i think your talking about with strengthening were the rear cradle mounts to. a bit wild but food for thought maybe. hope there something useful there! i will have more pics but probably not before your finished. lol cheers russ cheers russ
  13. yes i got into a fight with a toilet and lost!!
  14. thanks Jess It was a great experience, hope to get back there again soon. some crazy cars there!! lol
  15. thanks guys, the brakes look great in the flesh yeah pretty sure we are going to run a bit of a muffler there, also above the muffler box you can see a horizontal rollcage bar has been added to counter the chassis copping the chop , this has been done on bothsides too, as you would know dunc there isnt much strength in the gtr rails to begin with so will be heaps stronger now even with out it, most of the floor pan strength generally comes from the sill area and were it has been cut all the individual sill sheets have been welded to the cutout sheet for strength too. hes a master at it, my car is sitting next to a brandnew v8 supercar with the same floor mods. cant wait to get it back and crack on with it, is there anything we need to look out for if we are going to get this logbooked in sports sedans?? anyone (dunc , i know your building one) cheers russ

  19. haha dunc! lol well should get the r34 back in a week or so, seam welding to go, mount the air jacks, radiator support panel mod, steering column mod, think thats about it for the moment on the shell , then back to us for start dummy assemble, then pull back apart again and start paint prep, just a few small pics of bits major exhaust tunnel mod for ground clearance, really happy with it!! the new brakes should be very nice! and the roll cage coming through the firewall slowly getting there ! will spend all this weekend putting the r32 back together! preparing for superlap
