to be honest ben , i dont know the chassis will be sandblasted to remove all body deadner and seam sealer and then heated before doing seam welding to get most of the under seam sealer out, i would guess we will probably remove 20 odd kilo of body deadner and i think the shell weight is around the 300/350 kilo mark currently, we havent weighed it yet. there is a few areas we were concerned about in regards to acid dipping without intimate knowledge of the process eg r34 has dual skined firewalls, removing all the acid out of places like that may be a bit of a nightmare, secondly i have a sandblast booth available to me so that is the easiest & an effective method for us.
-
we have decided not to acid dip( at this stage ) car is ready for body prep and just finishing the stand for it, then we will sandblast what we can and take the rest off by hand. then off for cage and some other mods.

HMMM...thanks for that, we might have to have a second set of front guards and bumper for log book racing mind you mainly interested in time attack events and sprints, jdm etc. cheers russ

thanks for the info dunc are you going to the march sprints? have you been around the mountain! what times if you have? i would love to give it a crack sometime soon. there's i a hillclimb on tomorrow ( just testn tune ) that i am thinking about turning up to! i feel a bit shagged though, as i went and did a heap of mowing out at lakeside raceway today to help clean the track up.!! bloody hot and burnt they are in for lots of trouble when it opens back up, as someone complained from a house near by the moment a motorbike went around the track! and it was a bloody quiet bike doing no more than 60!!

i will post some pics when i have the engine back, currently getting the sump modified for the dry sump setup

yeah just got off the phone with martin and he's wrapped with the car, abit shell shocked about the pole position i think! well done to them , i know how much prep they have put into it, dave must be a bloody handy steerer. fingers crossed that they are there at the finish!

cheers dunc! yeah 3d most likely i think it's about the only class it will fit, glad they changed the rules. for turbo 4wd cars i also mixed you up with paul(dirt grage) on another thread , i have some video's ( skyline group a races) i need to send him. i know what ya mean about between rebuilds, lol:) are you doing targa again? i will definately let you know how light we can get it, as a shell i can pick up the whole front of the car one handed on the hoist!! hey david are you meaning the bathurst sprint at christnas(drive bathurst) or is there another one i can go to??

Garrett Gt2860r-5 Turbo Upgrade - Oil And Water Lines
giant replied to str00th's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yep , like trent said, we are also running the standard oil/water lines, & we have had only one failure but that was due to us mis handling an oil pipe and we cracked it. never ever been an issue( just make sure you look after them) -
keep me posted john! and i will try to make it to some of your races! whens your next one?

blk180. I LIKE YOUR STYLE!!!

hey will be the aussie rb 30 but with an amazing crank girdle setup which ties to the block also, only one colour for the car for me, BLACK with a nice set of dark wheels, AME wheels made by Enkei (custom made). but will have some good graphics to brighten it up(hopefully) 4wd will remain in the car. the boot, boonet and doors are dry carbon off the Tomei drag car. rear hub mod does away with the hicas lock bar altogether( not required)

i cant wait! seeing those pics , i want it now!

QUOTE(Mr. Keets @ 8 Feb 2008, 07:48 PM) Why have you changed from the 2.6 full counter to a 3.0 litre, given the success of the 32? hi mate yeah good question, we are hoping for more torque across the range with similar turbos to what we currently use. rpm limit will be about the same at 8000 or 8200 rpm,and we will have an extra gear too with the six speed sequential. also this car is being built for a very different type of racing as it will be mainly on circuits and cill climbs, and the 32 was built as an all rounder with alot of ability on motorkhanas and things with a hydraulic handbrake setup and it could just bolt of corners and witches hats. and great gearing especially with a higher rpm limit. i hope we have good results but wont really know for a few months. chassis is almost stripped and stand is being made

good idea richard!! lol

yes it's a really nice car, bloody dirty under neath though!! friggin road cars, who'd work on em! lol i promise you it will be reborn!! this thing is going to be something special, you should see the gear for it!! didnt get the car finished(stripped) should have it ready to take to work and take the subframes & glass out tuesday, there some really cool engineering changes from the r32 to this, great to pull it apart and see all the differences. mind you i have never worked on an unmodified r33 so big differences for me.
-
well here's some pics of the r34 last week and i will post up some pics of the car tomorrow night, should be nearly just a shell, not bad for a day and a halfs work, then we need to make a chassis frame so we can rotate it and also use it to ship to sydney to get the shell acid dipped.

the spec's for the car so far rare, (it will be purely timeattack & sprints, with a sports sedan lod book) hope to have it done by may! funny that, r34 are almost 10 years old and i wish they were 20k! r32's are twenty years old and they are 20k

lol... thats a classic!! and atleast we know it's all in good humour as know one in there right mind would say that and be serious hey john! hehe engine looking good richard! dont take me too serious john, as i dont need a rival racer with a vendetta that can give me a whippin with a pink toyota rear wheel drive car.

must be bs! i have just stripped an r34 and there isnt 100 kg worth of bolts, mind you i wish there was , like you say it would make it easy!
