  1. IN A WORD.... YES!! Would be good to have more track time, with this set up but hopefully we will get two more full days here before it goes and a full day a Tsukuba the day before to practice and set up for the track, and we also have secret weapon! intial testing has been that the car is faster and is easier to drive, so that can only be a good thing. the new motor should give us another 1000 rpm of useable power , which help ratios heaps. this friday is an important test! cheers russ
  2. Hi Chris Yeah , i met Steve in Japan about two months ago, absolutely top bloke, really know's he shit with suspension and tunning too!! he has been unbelievable with help on the suspension on our car and is coming to Japan with us in December hopefully. bloody small world!! cheers russ
  3. hey m3gtr yeah i am really hoping we get a good go at it! nothing goes wrong no excuses! fingers crossed, the test this friday is very important and we need a really good run there for some speed testing, all the warpaint should be on by then so will be getting photos and vids of the day, flying the Aussie flag on the bonnet!!! i dont think it's a reall nur just v spec ! will be in Japn from the 1st to the 8 th of December and the racing is on the 5th (practice day on the 4th) the car will be staying in Japan and going on display in the tokyo auto slaon in January. hey yawn, it would be cool if he can beat the mines car ( mind you i would never hear the end of it! ) cheers russ
  4. okay update engine is built and back in the car!! and gearbox in too, will finish tomorrow night but have to get new front section of exhaust made tuesday as we had to fit neww dump pipes as the old ones were cracked. hopefully dyno wednesday. and the all the warpaint goes on before friday. we have set a goal all going well in japan to try and get inside the top ten! mark has a personal goal to try aand beat the whites mines r34 which runs 57's apparently , so we shall see! hah Finalizing shipping details tomorrow, with a freight forwarder and all paper work has been approved to get his car out of country and the r34 into country. cheers russ
  5. hey guys sorry m3gtr! i didnt deliberately skip your questions, just waiting for a bit more time! had a huge weekend this weekend building and fitting the engine. not sure of the place the uss auction was at but near chiba/Tokyo( i think that's how you spell it) and and no the car was passed in , we tried to bid but we were to slow! lol so we went and made an offer. ( not saying what that offer was ) my lack of answer was definately not to do with what you do or dont driv. The build will be expensive but most of the parts we already have, engine/transmission/ brakes/ interior/ and most body panels will be coming out and be sold, basically only want the shell and some runnning gear and steering. roy - that evo is the business, bloody hell! i am sure we are in for an eye opener, we will give it our best shot and hopefully take the 34 back the next year. angus - we are going in the open class! T04GTR - umm the 5th gear was circlip had slipped along the shaft allows fifth gear to move along just out reach of the selector so you cant get it in. we made spcer shim so that if the circlip moves the gear cant go anywhere, we were seeing the problem mainly when we would miss shift from second to fifth instead of getting third. hey dazza - the would give ya the sh#ts! whats she think about using her car for indy? lol like my wife sarah last year !! haha see ya friday!!
  6. fantastic!! hmmm sounds like , i wont be using a side pipe though!

  8. thanks duncan! well engine was out this morning, new engine should be ready around lunch time tomorrow to go in, had to get new dump pipes freighted today as the old one's were cracked !! taking pics so will post em soon. russ
  9. hey thanks fellas yeah the car does look alright! they did a really good job because the car was very dirty and looking a little worse for wear after the dutton and that was about a week later. richard - the stack is great and really easy to read at speed especially whe nyou get a warning indicator come up and the tacho is everything!!! hey john i dont think you have to worry to much about our times! i have seen your car in action and it's a real credit to you. cheers russ
  10. hey john you dont have time to be on here get back to fixing the head gasket!! come to think of it, i should be in the shed too! cheers russ
  11. yeah the r33 will be going!! but not until we finish it and run it! not sure when that will be though because we make take it's gear box to japan as spare! the new project at christmas is this will be recieving around christmas and post full build details of this car as we go, it will be seem welded , full cage, super light weight, lexan all round, carbon panels , pedal box dry sump etc . etc cant wait russ so r33 must go to help fund it.
  12. this vid has nothing to do with japan trip but i was just looking around thought you might like to see it, maryborough sprints run (jump out of gear but still ok) russ
  13. hey micahel yeah i had to go back to work today, and had a coolant leak so didnt want to keep going. how did you go today? ready for the weekend? russ

  18. hey guys tested out at QR today, new ohlins shocks in the car,, they were awsome!! new vid of car after dutton rally nsw, mind you the car has changed since then and been repainted. Marks little video!! http://www.hioctaneracing.com.au/video.php next test is at pauls track day on the 5th at QR. Cheers russ

  20. hey stupid toyota sorry to hear about your head gasket issue, as you say that racing. i'm sure you'll proably be playing cars on the weekend then too! what's a decent time on the clubman? russ
  21. hey guys well nearly all the photos i took today look like crap, as i really should learn how to use the camera!! forgot to change the setting and nearly all photos are white and washed out!! oops. but here a three okay ones, loved the porsche lemans car !! awsome cheers russ will have a look at the video i took. only out of car.
  22. maybe try to supply fuel externally via seperate fuel hose from a fuel tin into the carbies feed line just in case it is a blockage from the tank or something silly like that. just to eliminate that as a possibilty. russ
  23. hi mate! 2.6 crank & 2860 turbo's. Mark reckons the shocks are unbelievable! cant wait to drive it myself. had a coolant leak so didnt do the laps we wanted to do, but not to worry the real test for speed comes with the new motor. ( i had to go to work anyway) russ
  24. well mark drove the car this morning! the new ohlins shocks were absolutely fantastic and miles ahead of what we are used to !! the intial settings are pretty good and were great at a rough track like QR. sidepipe sounds awsome and helped with response and overall power, not to mention weight reduction by about 10 kg, big flames too!! wheel alignment seems spot on for tight stuff and should be great for Tsukuba. 03G dulop mediums were put on the car and had plenty of grip but will be going for softs for Japan. overall wrapped with the new setup, only got to do about 8 laps and 6 of those were running in the new tyres and doing a temp/pressure check, lap time was mid 1:17 sec's wish we are really happy with considering not pushing the car yet, will be fitting new engine this weekend. new turbos, tomei forged crank, gt block, with current head setup, and turn up the volume a little bit with a 9000 rpm limit. and trying to get some fast laps in next friday at QR. if i have any good pics or vids , i will post them tonight. cheers russ ( huge weeknd ahead)
  25. Absolutely spot on!! wheel alignment can never be understated. i went to wakefield one weekend after getting a wheel alignment from a "race expert shop ". we struggled with the car all weekend , most of the time thinking our 4wd was playing up. when we got home and checked wheel alignment the car had 6mm of rear toe out. ( i spun a few times that week end) !
