Hi Sydneykid We now have the car running in a straight line no problem there at all. The problem I have now is the car bogging off the start line if I warm the MT Et tyres and try a launch at 9000 revs the car bogs big time. if I don't warm them I get all 4 wheels spinning for about the first 4 car lengths. Not sure what to do about this, whether to run Nittos or stick with the MT's and try to get it off the line playing with the suspension. what is the max speed you can do on a set of 275X40X17 drag nittos thanks Keith -

Here is a link to a post i put up about my 1/4 mile time http://forums.gtrforums.com/showthread.php?t=128 Hi Mario The tyres that I used were Mickey Thomson ET streets. The drag strip is a approved strip, there was a 7000+ bhp top fuel car there and a jet car that ran a 6.1 at 250+ mph. here is a link to the drag strip http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/ We were there testing the car over 3 days, the first 2 days were to get it to run in a straight line as it was not safe to drive before. Here is a timing slip from the Sunday, sorry for the quality of it but it has faded with it being left in the transporter window. the times on it are 60ft 1.938 330 4.973 660 7.201 990 8.947 1320 10.49 at 152.15 mph not bad for a crap start Here is a time slip from the Monday we were having problems with the 2 stage launch control the car was bogging off the line, things to sort out there Here is the only run that we managed to do when we switched off the launch control,we had all 4 wheels spinning off the line. Then the rain stopped play for the day On this 9.6 run I missed 4th gear and had to lift off clutch into gear and back on the power again you will see that I lost a bit of speed on this run. so no I did not back up the 9.6 run with a 9 sec pass but if it had not rained we would have went much faster, but from the other slips you can see the car has the speed to do a low 9. I don't think me and the car done that bad as this was the first time the car has done a full 1/4 mile, since its full rebuild, last time out it blew the front diff and bust the sump. I had a long talk with Mr. Barnes and he needs to pull his finger out and finish his car so I have someone to race in the UK. So that we can play catch up with the rest of the world. Keith -

I live about 130 miles north of Edinburgh,if I want to run at a proper drag strip I have to drive almost 500 miles,it takes 10 hours in the truck. there are 2 places where I can run in Scotland but they are old runways not the best and if you do a good time, then everyone says the time does not count because it is not a proper drag strip. Well where do I start. Sorry for keeping this weekend a secret from everyone apart from Dave Wilkins the reason for this was that I did not want everyone and there mother there expecting me to run a good 1/4 mile time straight away. We were having big problems with the car not wanting to go in a straight line when on full power in 3rd,4th,5th and 6th gear, all I am going to say is that it was very dangerous not knowing what way the car was going to go at 100+ mph. On Saturday all we wanted to do was set the car up so that it would run a straight 1/4 mile after playing with the wheel alignment and damper settings we had it going in a straight line and it now feel's 100% safe to drive flat out. The next job on Sunday was to get it to launch off the line, spent the whole day trying different things with the Autronic software, but it kept bogging big time on the line the car still managed to get up to 154 mph with a crap start,I was getting a bit annoyed that it would not go off the start how I wanted it to,so I called Mark Shead from MAD and he told me that the software needs another control box before the launch control will work as it should part now on order from Autronic in Australia. On the Monday I went for 2 slow runs to warm the engine and the transmission up then I tried a run,it still bogged a bit with the launch control set at 8000 revs I did a 10.17 here is the times from the slip below. 1/4 Mile....10.17 sec 60ft...........1.801 sec 330ft.........4.628 @ 112.62mph 660ft.........6.81 sec 990ft.........8.591 sec Terminal speed was 146.96mph I was getting a bit pi$$ed off by now so I switched off the launch control and rolled up to the startline again gave it everything off the line it took off,it caught me out a bit but I was away without any bogging this time, everything was going ok until I missed 4th gear,I then put it into 4th gear gave it everything in 4th then 5th and crossed the line,I thought it would be another low 10 sec pass,I got a surprise when I was told I had done a 9.63. we left the car to cool down a bit before running it again,we were about to run the car and the sky's opened up and the strip was a washout,to say that I was gutted is a under statement I think the car could have done a very low 9 sec pass on the day. I now know that there is a lot more to come from this car and myself this is the first time that I have driven the car in anger since TOTB and to drive it flat out for the first time is very daunting to say the least Very very happy Keith -

11.2 is a good time for a full weight R32 with a pair of 2530 turbos there was a guy last month running a Pfitzner box in a R33 with big ish power and the box went bang dont know what broke in it ??. You should be ok with the Pfitzner box if you damage it you wont have a problem getting the parts to sort it. Keith -

Hi Judd Sorry i missed you post The HKS box is good as long as it dont smash the dog rings i had a HKS 6sp box smash 4th gear and you cant buy the parts for it anywhere the box has to go back to HKS in Japan and they have to do all the work I was told that it needs a rebuild once a year if you want it to last ???? the time scale and the costs made me want to sell it asap,so i could buy a gearbox that i could get parts for off the shelf here in the UK so happens that my tuner and good friend is the main importer for OS Giken www.osgiken.co.uk Keith -
