thedriver replied to huddy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi Matt, I've just upgraded my original suspension (99 RS4S) to SK's group buy bilstein / whiteline package. The original suspenion isn't lowered, so not sure if it will suit you, but they'vegot 120000kms on them if you're interested. Let me know if you're interested. -

Thanks Sl!m, I started reading that thread but the initial posts had nothing to do with my problem. I didn't realise it was a post full of unrelated faults until you pointed me back at it. -

Please ask the administrator to check the settings and permissions" The pics are only 41kb in size and I've tried two different pictures. Neither of them work. I have tried a new post and it also doesn't work. Please help! Thanks. -

Awesome thread RS4StagMan. Nice details. I live in Canberra and have been trying on and off for the last three years to find a suitable dedicated, injected system for my Stagea. Unfortunately, because of environmental factors in Canberra's winter (-10*C) and the snowy mountains (-20*C), cold starts on a vapour injected system aren't an option. The GTi Stealth Injection System and LPG Liquid Inject system are both looking very promising, I just wish they'd come to market. Can you tell me what sort of temperatures you experience in winter and how your cold starts are in the middle of winter? Good to finally see a conversion. Congrats!

I've tried PMing you many times but your mailbox is always full, so I have to resort to posting in this thread. Hi Sk, I wasn't too concerned about your mailbox being full. I'd think you'd have to have one of the highest contact ratios of any of the members... But still no luck, your mailbox has been full since your post... Just wanted to make sure you'd received my payment for the suspension (see below) and see if there's an ETA for delivery (I haven't heard anything yet)? 02/06/2008 ANZ INTERNET BANKING FUNDS TFER TO JAMEX AUSTRALIA $2,364.55 Thanks. Hi SK, Payment sent. I tried to PM you but it was full. Any chance of an ETA? Cheers. -
Thought I might also point out two articles in the news today about more efficeint fuel / vehicle choices: 1. Rudd torpedoes main adviser in 'green car' plans - from The Age 2. Iemma: We'll buy first Aussie hybrid car - from News.com This is exactly the kind of momentum I mentioned is required by governments to help push us along in the right direction. I hope soemthing can happen as a result. Ska - unfortunately, there's a few floors in the pricing / import / export argument that you were sent. - In an economic market, if you had the capability to produce a product and sell it cheaper than everyone else (but still sell the same amount), but everyone else it selling it for more (the market value) why would you undercut your profit margin and sell it at a lower price? Hence the barrel price for oil determines the price Australian produced oil can be sold for, why would you sell it for less. - The GST double dipping debate rages on, but GST is charged on everything sold in Australia. The point of GST is tohave the same rate of tax on all goods and services, if you want to change the GST rate on fuel we may as well go back to the old system were we had different rates of tax on all products. - removing the governemtn fuel excise (levy) will massively reduce the amount of money the government earns each year. Then who do we turn to for funding of schools, roads, forests, etc? Keep upping the price of fuel and we might learn that we need an alternative source for our fuel!
-
We don't need to remove the GST on petrol, we need to start weaning Australia off its oil addiction, with a recovery plan - - massive federal investment in public transport - laws for dramatically more efficient cars - more efficient, cleaner fuels - and an Emissions Trading Scheme which includes transport Tell your MP you want far-sighted, low-carbon transport solutions now: check out the GetUp - FixTransportand help make a difference.

LPG fuel tanks... Thought some of you may be interested in these conformable LPG taks from PPI (propane Performance Industries) - http://www.propaneperformance.com/html/index.htm They are very cool tanks that give a much greater increase in internal gas volume for the same size space as a normal cylinder. I'm not sure where they are available in Australia, but would be worth contacting them. These would be great to replace the existing tank in a LPG only setup. I was looking at an injected LPG setup for my Stagea two or three years ago, but because I live in Canberra (and frequent the snow) there are some serious issues to overcome for cold starts in the winter. I don'twant to loose out on space because of a dual fuel setup requiring a second tank. Also from another thread - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Gas-Gtr-t221155.html Some of the people on this forum are clearly already aware of the economic advantages of LPG. But some are still very much unaware LPG has a lot of performance benfits, particulalry for forced induction engines. Being higher octane, you can increase boost pressure, it runs cleaner, causes less engine wear and can actually offer torque increases lower in the rev range which can benefit acceleration times and general drivability. A properly configured LPG system is fantastic and there are a lot of performance vehicles doing very good 400m times on LPG.

Damn! I just lost my entire reply... but it went a little like this (just much longer), Changi - 1. The consequences of soaring fuel costs are that the governments and private enterprise will fund the development and implementation of cheaper alternative fuels much sooner. The benefit to this is that most alternative fuels which are relatively cheap are also much cleaner. 2. I didn't claim Brazil did it for the planet, I clearly stated Brazil did it for economic benefit. Although bio-fuels do have greener credentials than petrol - that is a side benefit for Brazil. 3. Not all alternative fuels are created equal, an electric vehicle in Australia is not necessarily a good idea... even an efficient electric vehicle. When you consider that Australian electricity is primarily sourced from coal burning plants, 1kWh of electricity generates approximately .99kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions (unless you're on 100% green accredited electricity like me!). Petrol emits approximately 2.3kg of CO2 per Litre so your emissions depend on the fuel efficiency of your vehicle. An electric car (Wrightspeed X1) emits 12.375kg of CO2 per 100kms, by comparison a petrol/electric hybrid like the Toyota Prius emits approximately 10.1kg of CO2 per 100kms. So a petrol /electric car can be cleaner than a petrol only car in Australia. I realise these are different spec vehicles, but I couldn't find too many electric only cars to compare. FULOCK - This is just another email scam designed to make you forward the email to as many people as possible. You're basically becoming the virus that sends the email to your entire address book. Don't so it.... it won't work. There are too many reasons why it won't work. Some other points: - Car companies are torn between technologies at this stage and will continue to produce vehicles using a diverse range of fuels until the courtiers of the world (probably China, India and the US) decide on one or two sources of fuel as a replacement. The sooner governments force a direction for the car companies to take the cheaper the manufacture of these cars becomes as productions increases. - Rising petrol prices is a fact of life. Simple. Deal with it. We have known this for a very long time. Oil is a finite resource that is a demand globally and it is a basic economic principal of supply and demand. It's another really good reason to consider green renewable resources when deciding on our next choice of fuel.

This might get me in trouble... I believe we are still paying too little for petrol. The price of petrol should be higher and should have been higher than it currently is a long time ago. Filling my Stagea hurts my hip pocket as much as the next person, maybe even more so. I do around 30-35000kms each year, so it's not cheap, especially when you consider the price of BP Ultimate is rarely discounted (and BP don't have fuel vouchers). But bring on $3.80/L I say! We desperately need to be looking seriously at alternative fuels; BioDiesel, CNG, Ethanol, Electric (not really suitable for Australia yet), Hydrogen, LPG (still a fossil fuel derivative). Not just because the price of petrol is skyrocketing, but because we need a cleaner atmosphere in which to live. The higher the price of petrol the sooner we will take seriously the alternatives, and the cheaper they appear in comparison. Had we been paying a high price for petrol already, a price which you might say justifies our contribution to the fouling of the air we breathe (consider it a tax), we would surely have delivered a cleaner, more efficient fuel source and delivered it on masse to the motoring public. Countries have done it already, countries with a much smaller hip pocket than our own. Brazil is the glory country here and have proven it can be done. With a budget revenue similar (slightly smaller) than our own, almost 10 times the population and a per capita GDP less than 1/3 of ours, they understood the economics of the proposal for cheaper alternative fuels a long time ago. Australia is a position to do the same whether it be with Ethanol or another alternative fuel. We already support a sugar cane industry, have large reserves of ©NG and LPG and a fledgling BioDiesel community. What we really need is for our government(s) (Federal and State), industry and private enterprise to back one or two options (not necessarily those I have mentioned) and make a committed effort to ensuring the supply and use. Governments need to be the primary driver offering either direct rebates and stamp duty / registration concessions for cars that are converted or designed for use on these cleaner fuels (much like LPG at the moment). This is the answer to the rising cost of petrol prices. This is the ONLY answer. Whether it happens now or down the track when petrol is $3.80/L will be determined by us. And one more thing... anyone that thinks the oppositions idea of reducing the excise on petrol by 5c/L is a good idea... You need to have a serious think. If you use a full 60L /week, that's a net saving of just $3... or $150/yr. Wouldn't you prefer the government instead put your $150/yr into developing new, cheaper, cleaner fuel supplies?
