  1. I spoke to Max about this yesterday and he said, the engineer will normally only rate it to 1500kg, but the towbar is capable of 2500kg. It all comes down to the engineer doing the certification. If you know another engineer that wont be as conservative, Max said the towbar wil handle it. It would just be a matter of you getting it certified with that engineer. The engineer Max has arranged to do Terminal's and my towbar certifications will do extras certifications for the same model of car at a discounted rate, about $100 instead of the normall $450. This would be better for all of us as we could distribute the load.... (hehe, isn't that what a towbar is for anyway???)
  2. + shipping.
  3. UPDATE: Terminal and I have both seen Max at Towbars of Woden. Max is building us two heavy duty towbars with a removable ball that should be capable of towing around 2500kg, although Max thinks the certifier will only rate them to 1500-1800kg (apparently he's very conservative). The S1 and S2 chassis is identical. Anyone else interested - now's your chance??? Takes him about 1 week to build.
  4. Damn, was hoping to have do it before xmas. Oh well, keep us posted! And G O O D L U C K.
  5. How's it going chook? Any luck with the STB???
  6. Hiya guys - check out this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=51202 A lot of this has been covered and there's some good links in there. I really like the dolphin kits.
  7. Hey Chook, How'd you go with the Strong box????
  8. My Stagea is in an excellent state... barely a mark on it! ACT !!! Can you set up a poll, that would give a nice graphical respresentation and it would update as respondents answered the poll
  9. Well my next adventure will be scissor doors... maybe that will be better received? I needed some protection - they were cheap and matched the car. I know, I have a horrible time with insects! That photo was taken during a dive trip, so the car wasn't clean. Perhaps my next trick will be a disappearing act
  10. I was interested to see what a Audi like grille would look like on a Stagea... might be better on a Series 1, but I quite dig it.
  11. Me too, got a stupid speeding ticket the other day in Quenbeyan, and both the cops couldn't care less about my car. As for the mods, I can't give you any answers but I can give you encouragement. Others here might say, don't be an idiot, do this or do that... I'd go for it, the air suspension sounds great - it's some personalisation and creativity. I'm organising with an installer to put an injected LPG system to replace the fuel on my car and I also want to add a vertical door kit! Think it would really suit the lines of the Stagea. Had a few people telling me i was being a cheapskate wanting to do the LPG, but it's unique. AS would be the same for your suspension. I'd imagine the Japanese would probably have a multitude of kits for it though - they do some wild things to their cars.
  12. Have you got pictures??
  13. Wont it need to be standard though to pass compliance... or at least returned to standard? Is there any point getting a modified one. I think I'd prefer a stocker anyway, at least you know the mods you do are quality.
  14. Where did you get the STB from? What are it's dimensions? I looked at Dick Smith and JB today and both only had home theatre STBs (240v). You have to have a DC>AC adapter as well in that case. Dick Smith had there own DSE brand DTR101 SD STB for $90 Dimensions: W224 x D150 x H38 JB HiFi had a KaOn K200 SD STB for $149, a little bigger but apparently has a very good receiver in it. Dimensions: W252 x D225 x H52
  15. top move chook. that sounds like a top idea. please fill us in and take pics if you can!
  16. I'd be guessing the same... but we don't "know" as such. Anyone with a S1 that can compare with a S2? I have S2 and am in Canberra.
  17. What happened?
  18. They look like a standard towbar (much like a hayman reese) - I'll try and get a pic. He needs my car for one day for the prefab and then he fits it later in the week - chances are mine will be the first he does.
  19. No luck. Mine did no such thing and the engine wasn't immobilised. Sounds like you have either a factory fitted alarm or an aftermarket one.
  20. Hmmm...show us some pics. What's it going to cost you? How are you doing it - starting from scratch or modifying an existing towbar? Not too big a deal for me, I've got to fit one anyway before XMas. Terminal - I also kinda like the idea of the heavy duty bar, but also don't know what I'd need to tow that would be that heavy. I don't race cars (yet). I do prefer the look and ease of removal of the heavy duty one though.
  21. Don't know about a tuner... I submitted a request for a brochure on the Xanavi site (knowing only too well they specified they only send brochures to Japan). I received a reply today... Their email address is: homepage "at" mail.xanavi.co.jp Finally!!! So, I'm going to send them an email today and ask them for a conversion kit and any info they can give us on the system. Fill you in when I get the details. It took a couple of weeks for them to email me so it might be like watching the grass grow... painful.
  22. oooh... oooh.... oooh! Too many questions I hadn't even considered. Removable ball - Yes. I did speak to him about that. The standard towbar has a ball on a tongue (i think) that can be removed by undoing two bolts. The heavy duty towbar has a square, shaped slide, pin fixed removable ball. I think i like it more! Not sure about the light plug... I assume it is fixed next to the ball. That's what he had on his car. I don't like the hang out the boot one's, considering he is custom making them though, you can probably have whatever you like!
  23. Yep, that's sweet. How keen are you Terminal? Do you want it complianced (An extra $250 each if all three of us do it together)? I'm organising to get mine made next week with any luck. How does that suit you Drifter, when did you need yours made by? Perhaps he can use my car to make yours first and then make mine after that, as I don't need a towball until before Xmas. Drifter, you said you wanted yours complianced, does that still stand, given the cost?
  24. By "diversity antenna", do you mean the normal antenna that comes with the stagea? I'm guessing it is in the rear window, near the demister. What are the japanses style antennas?
