You need CTP (Compulsory Third Party) in order to get rego.
If your in NSW, rego is usually about 250, and ctp, depending on your age could be up 2 600.
Im 20 and pay 550 for CTP.
What problems are you getting trying to fit it yourself?
You need basically no mechanical skills to put it in.
If the adapter is for an R33 should be as simple as removing stock blow off valve from the two bolts that are holding it on. putting the A/M BOV in and screwing it in.

How about a Yellow 33 GTS-t SII?
Done 100xxxkm, Heavy duty clutch, 3' inch exhaust, Blitz FMIC, SAFC, HKS Pod + other things (gauges, sound system etc).
Ive had mine for over a year now....
I have replaced:
- Spark Plugs
- Brakes
- Tyres
Just the things you would do on a normal family car, so i havnt had any troubles (touch wood).
Things that need changing in the next 6 Months:
- Clutch
- Timing Belt
- Water Pump
So all in all ive gotten off alright.
I guess it just depends if you buy a clean car or a worn out car....

Standard turbo at the moment.
The car may have had some work done to it before i bought it and was brought back to basically standard, when we installed the SAFC the wires were already cut for an SAFC. I know the guy that owned the car before me so i might give him a call and ask him.
I was impressed with the result myself....
I put an old school SAFC in my car a few weeks ago (push button type).
My car was previously running 187rwkw with the AFRs sitting at around the 13 mark (pretty dangerous).
After the SAFC install and tune the car put out 206.6rwkw, the AFRs went down to 12 and the powercurve was alot smoother.
Worth the 360 your going to pay IMO.
Then again, different cars get different results.
sorry mate,
didnt get the graph with afrs (STUPID!!!)
they were about 12.4 at the start, gradually dropping and staying at 12 flat.
The 206.6 is a conservative tune as well.
I basically told them that i want to be able to drive it hard without anything going boom.
