I doubt petrol was coming out the exhaust, probably just condensation. The first thing you should do is check ignition timing, the spark has a big influence on how well the fuel burns.

It is a late series 1 and someone's fitted a series 2 bumper for what ever reason, crash, aesthetics etc. Both series 1 & 2 have a coil pack for each spark plug, it's just that the early series 1 have an external igniter, where as late S1&2 have the igniter built into the ecu.

I spend about $40 on bp ultimate a week which is 5 days to and from work, 15 minute trip through peak traffic each way. Not too bad on fuel economy. Insurance is killer though.

I'd probably go for a neat s13 non-turbo sr20 Silvia, an mx5 would be alright but you'd get none stop shit from everyone for owning one.
