  1. Im intersted, ive sent you a PM ADM
  2. Guys, I’m looking at using the Tomei oil restrictor "lug" for the RB26DETT, which restricts the oil feed diameter to the head down to 1mm. I’m concerned that it isn’t large enough to allow enough oil to the head during daily running conditions. Does anyone have an opinion on this or has anyone had experience with this mod. ADM
  3. Steve, I got my kg/mm to lbs conversion all wrong. Your right 8k (450lbs) is not massive and is certainly what I would use on the front end of the skyline on the road. What I said before may still ring true in this case. Your spring rate, front to rear is significantly different. The front springs (even with the extra weight of the front end) will stop compressing, causing the front tyres to slip before the rear end. 3K (170lbs) is pretty soft and creates a large ratio difference between front to rear. Id also be surprised if that 2 way locker LSD isn’t causing some turn in understeer. Like a welded rear diff, turn in is traditionally shocking. ADM
  4. Steve, 8k front springs on a road car with road rubber are too hard. As soon as the spring stops compressing and the mechanical grip of the tyre is exhausted the tyre will slip. So a massive spring rate at the front will cause the front to slip before the rear creating your understeer issue. The idea is not to stop the car rolling altogether but to ballance the amount of roll front to rear in relation to the rubber and tarmac condition(ie bumps). Sway bars are a good thing to tune the car once you have the spring rate within the ball park.
  5. Andrew, How much was your sump extension and who did the work? Cheers ADM
  6. No, the GTiR Kit from Protec uses the z32/r32(not the GTR) callipers and st205 Celica rotors. I had this kit on my previous car. ADM
  7. Yep Joel, Andrew is doing a price up for me. Ill be going in to have another chat on Tuesday. ADM
  8. I believe the problem occurs during constant high revs, where the quantity of oil pumped to the head can’t escape back to the sump quickly enough to keep the sump at a level sufficient for high cornering loads. I believe the GTR has one oil feed blocked all together and the second feed is restricted (not sure what the restricted size is). I hear that drilling the oil return out to a larger diameter and/or creating an extra return to the sump can help solve this as well. I wish we had a definitive answer for this. Also, can I PM one of you guys about City Dismantlers. I am considering rebuilding my GTR engine there and would like to ask some question and compare notes. Cheers ADM
  9. Guys, did you do any research into the oil feedback issues from the head. I know the RB26 suffers from this and most rebuilds address it. Is it an issue with the 25 head?? ADM
  10. Thanks Guys
  11. Guys, Im thinking of doing a similar build up for my now dead R32 GTR motor. I believe there is an issue with bolting the stock 4wd sump up to the rb30 block. Any idea if this is a difficult one to work around? Cheers ADM
  12. The same ADM yes, and mine was stripped but I didnt have a cage. A good friend of mine has the R with the cage. Do I know you?
  13. Im using DMS in my R32 GTR and I used them in my GTiR previously and they are an awsome piece of gear.
  14. Clint32, the bearings seem to be OK, there are other design flaws that are difficult to live with. I have the rose jointed JMS castor rod (made by the same guy) and these work very well.

Rob, They are perforated shims of approximately the same shape as the back of the pad. There are normally a few perforated shims with a solid one that backs them. They sit between the back of the pad and the callipers pistons and snap over the edge of the pad for location. To be perfectly honest Im not sure how they work, tho I can guess it’s a form of insulation between the pad and the piston that slightly cushions the pad on light applications and reduces the transfer of the vibration (squeal) to the calliper. Just guessing here!!! Pad knock off is when the callipers piston is lightly pushed back(by the pad hitting/knocking the disc) whereby the brake pedal is felt to sink slightly before braking the car as the initial application only takes up the gap the knock off created between the pad and the disc. It’s normally only felt during very hard driving, but can be incredibly disconcerting in extreme examples. It’s possible to purchase anti knockoff springs that sit behind the piston and apply a slight preload.

Yep the front and rear should have "antisqueel" plates/shims that are tranfered between pads when you change them. Most pads will squeel without the plates. In the past ive removed the antisqueel plates as it seems to help remove pad knock off. But the squeeling was so annoying ive put them back on the fronts only.
  17. Guys I bought the JMS units as they use bearings rather than bushes and the camber could be adjusted via the threaded section to a precise degree. This should have been a superior option. I won’t go into details, but lets just say that Ill certainly be changing the bushes in the standard control arm and reverting back to this instead. I understand that www.uniqueautosports.com have released a bearing based upper control arm for the front of the R32/Z32. Im using their rose jointed upper control arm for the rear of the GTR and this has worked faultlessly.
  18. If you are worried about fuel consumption do not buy a GTR. Best I’ve seen was a sedate cruise to Melbourne where I achieved 14l/100km's. Now for a relatively small capacity modern engine in conditions where there was no boost used, that is crap. Now I absolutely luv my GTR and would kill if someone tried to take it away from me but the fuel consumption for a freeway cycle is rubbish. For a serious run in the hills I’m lucky to get 300km's out of the 70L tank!!! But for me the pleasure of destroying WRX's in every other aspect (besides fuel consumption) makes it more than worth while. You may get better economy out of the WRX, but you’ll also have the pleasure of power understeer.
  19. Hi Guys, I’m new to this forum, but ill try to make it as well. If I find some replacement rotors for the GTR. I have a fault line appearing that threatens to swallow a rim. If I make it ill have in tow a couple of GTiR's and a DR30 (gas-turbo). ADM
