  1. Product-----Hankook Ventus Sport K104 tyres Tyre size----235/45/17 Rim size-----9 inch Vehicle------93 R32 GTR Price--------$170 each Location-----Brisbane / Queensland Compared against-Yokohama AVS 245/45/17 ------------------Falken Ziex 326 235/45/17 Overall Rating 9/10 **** A couple of months ago I had to replace the tyres on my GTR. I was running Yokohama AVS 245/45/17 all round but due to a lot of negative camber they had worn out on one side after 10 000 K. I liked these tyres so priced some new ones and was quoted $360 each for equivalent replacements. As I had just spent a small fortune replacing all the brake rotors I knew the budget wasn't going to stretch that far this time around so I did some research for some less expensive ones. After a lot of debating I finally ended up with the Hankook Ventus K104 in a 235/45/17 size at each corner. I wasn't expecting much form them considering the price however I have been VERY pleasantly surprised by just how good they are. This is only the third set of tyres I have had on the car so I haven't a lot to compare against but these are the best of the bunch so far. First tyres were 235/45/17 Falken 326. These tyres are absolute rubbish!! Wouldn’t put them on any car that has any performance traits. Slippery in the dry dangerous in the wet (even with 4wd). They were supplied by the compliance so after about 1000k I got rid of them. They were replaced by the Yokohama's which are a great tyre but very noisy and the car tram lined very badly with them. On top of that they wore out very quickly. The Hankook's are nice and quiet and have as much grip as the Yokohamas did (maybe more). They cured my tramlining completely and cost about half the price of the Yoko's. The wife will also now hop into the GTR because they are much more comfortable than either of the other two. They are not quite as good as the Yokohama's in the wet but this doesn't worry me much cos I feel if you are racing in the wet you're going to get in trouble anyway. Normal wet driving (not trying to get it sideways) is no problem. So there you have it a real bargain that sticks it the "big names". Oh and they are Y speed rated as well (300k/h). So if you have a R32 GTR and want some cheapies that have good performance you can't really go past them. ------------Price----Grip Dry----Grip Wet----Durability----Comfort Falken--------6---------3-----------1---------- ?---------- 6 Yokohama----3---------8------------9----------4---------- 4 Hankook----- 9---------8.5----------7----------?-----------7
  2. Not the telecast but the actual race? Is it 10:00 am or 9:00am Cheers
  3. Thanks for your replies guys. The reason I am asking is because all four of my standard (cross drilled) rotors have developed large cracks. As I am going to have to replace all rotors I wondered if it's worthwile going to better calipers on the front at least. Roy you have me interesed in the upgrading rotors idea. I am already running 17" x 9 rims so there is plenty of space under them, but how do you put on larger diameter rotors with the standard calipers? Do you have to adjust the location of the calipers? Do you use different pads? The car gets the occasional track day so I won't be getting cross drilled rotos again - Slotted only. Anyone else done this conversion?
  4. Has anyone here upgraded thier GTR's brakes from an R32 Nissan calipers and rotors to the R33 Brembo's. Is/ would this be a difficult job? Is it even worth it. Do they make much difference. From what I can determine the R32 V-Spec's all had the same Brembo calipers that the R33 has as standard. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance.
  5. Can you display an "Expression of Interest" ? Like word a sign: This car is not FOR SALE however if I were offered $10 000 I might decide to sell it. Thats not offering it for sale is it?
  6. To save everyone from reading the whole thing I'll let you all know that this is no longer happening. Here is the reason from Mattson "Ok first of all before ya all take this the wrong way I thought I'd give you a few facts: There is no way, repeat NO WAY you'll race two cars side by side down the kooralbyn air strip, it is NOT wide enough! secondly, the surface of the air strip is SHITE, it's like a cheap d-grade rock and tar road, and very un-even. third, there is a BIG **** off river on one side and a drop onto the road on the other side and at the end of the run-way the same river. now the reason I know this is I went to school at Kooralbyn for 9 years, I worked at the Golf Course for two years, my sisters boyfriend is a Sky-Diver & does all the filming for the Jump crew out there, my sister works as a part-time receptionist for the Kooralbyn Air-Stripe so I Also know Brad Turned personally. and myself & BoostedS15 were just out at Kooralbyn on the weekend for a Golfing adventure and after seeing this thread and seeing the air strip there is no way it could work. And the last thing, Public Liability, if you have any more then 6 cars out there then in the eyes of the law you are classed as Group/Club therefore requiring public liability insurance, and in this sort of event where the public and others could be in SERIOUS danger you will be in all sorts of problems if something does happen But, by all means go ahead to conitinue to orginise it, this is just my two cents worth... Cheers,"
  7. Excellent post Graeme. I'm sure we all appreciate the anount of time and effort it must have taken to complete it. Cheers.
  8. Had similar problem in mine. It was the "Ignitor module". One of the power amplifier's in it was shonky when warm!!
  9. Geoff has told me that he does expect the 15 year rule to change but doesn't know when it will. Geoff is a good bloke but he is just the import broker not a car dealer. Legally the purchaser is the the one whom actually imports the car so if you bought the car now YOU would be taking the risk not Geoff. That said I am sure Geoff would help out in any way he could. IF the government decide to change the rule to 20 years they would not give a flying f*ck if a couple of speculators lose out.
  10. Does anyone who has one of these know if the "Peak" speed measurment goes above 200Km/h. I was on a "privately owned road" the other day and I am sure I was well over that mark but the TT peak speed still says exactly 200Km/h. Thanks
  11. I think that one of the things that an online forum like this is great for is sharing of knowledge of our otherwise "unsupported vehicles". How about a seperate section just for "Fixes". Basically one single post for each thread that describes both the problem AND the solution. Could be arranged with multiple sections like R32, R33, R34 then GTS , GTR etc etc... You only post in here once you have a fix that has been confirmrd working. Still use the normal sections until then. I know that I have had a few "weird" problems that others could use to save many hours worth of diagnosing time. Now I know that this info is already on the forum in various formats but no simple problem - solution exists. Sometimes you can read pages of posts and never even find out if any solutions worked!! This could be VERY valuable and add immensly to the appeal of the site for new users. Oh and Skylinesdownunder DON'T have anything like this so we could be the first to start it!
  12. I have had the front control arm bushes changed to urethane ones. Here's a tip if being done by Pedders (don't know about others). Ask them to use high temperature grease and not the standard stuff that comes with the bushes or else you will end up with a very "creaky" arthritic sounding Skyline!!
  13. Hey ylwgtr, What model of GTR is yours? I don't have the switch on mine that you have. The one one trhat looks like a headlight positioner. Beside your dimmer switch. What is it?
  14. Yep I know of them ABM. They are OK. Are you supplying the tyres to them? I reccomend you either tell them the brand and type you want and what price you can source them for. Otherwise they may put on some cheap sh*t Falken 326 and charge you way too much for them. They guys that did mine tried to charge me $1300 for the tyres when I could buy them retail for $840. Another dodgy practise is when you go to pay they try to add GST onto the quote they gave you. (I don't think THOAS will try this but the compliancer who did mine did). Also ask how they install the child safety restraints. Mine cut a big hole in my rear speaker grills and installed a large metal bar directly over the speakers that effectivly destroyed them. Oh and they are supposed to change all the fluids I believe. Mine definately didn't.
  15. Gday AtomicBomberMan, what company is doinf the compliance work? I had mine done less than six months ago so I might have a few tips for you.
  16. Falken 326 - Wet weather Scary. Top line Yokohama - Wet - Feels like the dry. Sensational.
  17. You have to calibrate the HKS Type 1 for your Vehicle. Set the HKS Type 1 to rpm calibration mode (it reads 2000) then match with 2000rpm. Same for speed - 40Km/h then drive at 40km/h and set. You must do this every time you disconnect the battery.
  18. The first day it was registered in Australia
  19. Does anybody have a stock standard RB26DETT ECU map available as a file? I can get access to a ROM burner but I need the actual file to modify first!

  22. Long shot but same thing happened to me not long ago. Check for corrosion under the positive battery terminal. The two extra wires that connect via a spade connecter socket. Mine looked fine from the top but when taken off and inspected they were totally corroed. Caused the car to lose power then stumble intermittently for a couple of weeks before it just stopped dead one day. good luck
