im glad a got a beer out of the fridge before reading that as it took a while. No explanation necessary at all, your not the first one to mention the irregularities with the timing equipment but i guess thats one thing you have to contend with when an event like this is running year to year. All in all its a bit of fun and i dont think too many people get hung up on times (if they do then so be it) its the person that had the most fun and enjoyed themselves that are the winners IMHO. Be good to see you run again, hopefully this time no mechanical issues Having said that i wish all the competitors good luck and just hope to hell this weather doesn't stick around for Sunday, man i hate the wind Cheers Ben

Glad to hear the wrx will be back in action Tim, its been too long and wasn't the same last year without you there. Now to see if you can steal back the lap record being held by the mighty clubman Oh and it must be tough driving the "slow" old GT40

Only a few more days till poll is over, looks like the general meet and greet with a bit of a cruise is winning so far but very close second is a track day for all those die hard fans In regards to costs Ross they would all roughly cost about the same eg: $100ish depending how heavy your noise foot is

Need to sell this so im open to sensible offers or will consider trade for road bike. It needs a few hours work to finish/tidy up from where new motor went in car (electrical wiring, fmic piping etc) and the brakes on and system bleed before all fluids can be dropped in (have all new fluids ready to go) and car started ready to be tuned. From there the buyer can either drive it in its current tune or drop in cams, injectors, Z32, PFC and retune to there liking. Cheers Ben

Quality is excellent considering the size and capacity of the camera, if people were to upload somewhere other than youtube you wouldn't loose as much in quality either. Bang for buck you cant go wrong, i reckon i spotted 5-6 cars there on the weekend which were running one.

Ok so just throwing this out there as i will organise something in the next few months in an effort to get EVERYONE together for an SAU Tasmania Day. Cruise = general cruise that will allow all members throughout the state to get together and experience some of this states best driving road. Dyno day = power runs only no tuning, can look at arranging some prizes and obviously the winners would have bragging rights Track Day = can run it as a general day of turning laps or split into groups of experience and run a mini sprint format. Again can look at arranging some prizes and its a chance for those that love the track to get another day in and for those that have never been on the track experience it for the first time. General get together = mini cruise to central location to allow all members to meet and greet. Would most likely include bbq lunch (if facilities allow) photo shoot and no doubt other forms of shananigans Add your choice and the most votes win and date will be decided later. Cheers Ben

What Are The Best Value Tor Money? Coil Packs
grandmasterb replied to iwantagtr's topic in General Maintenance
Check the Forum Traders section you will see that 3 or 4 sell Split Fires at very competitive rates, JJR obviously stock JJR coils and there are a couple that stock Super Spark. No one has really had JJR/Super Spark long enough to see any signs of failure due to long period of life/use (they haven't been on the market long enough) but im sure that those who have been running them for the past 4+ months have had no problems. At the end of the day its really up to you what you want to get, the Split Fires are slight dearer than JJR and both offer great warranty and are established brands with hundreds being sold through the forum. IMO Super Spark a little expensive from what i've seen advertised (compared to the others) JJR are cheapest and offered directly in Australia, Sliding Performance offer "the cheapest Split Fires" in Australia but make sure you look at the price difference when ordering from stock in Oz and stock from Japan -
If your going to throw the ECU out Josh i'll take it off your hands again, will be handy to start my car

Here are the dates for the drift practice days at Baskerville Raceway for the remainder of the year. Hope to see everyone out there having fun and having a go in a safe, legal environment. These practice days for enthusiasts of all skill levels and budgets, everyone is welcome! - April 19 - June 28 - September 13 - November 8 The above practice days will run exactly like the other drift practice days in Tasmania. IE: NOT run as a CAMS event, thus not requiring the usual requirements such as a CAMS level 2 licence, pass CAMS scrutineers etc etc. ALL PRACTICE DAY TIMES: 10AM - 4PM To make it clear these days are NOT a competition, there will be no top 16, no judging just everyone going out and improving their drifting techniques on the track. Passengers WILL NOT BE allowed. Practice will be in the form of single car runs ONLY (ie. no tandems). Tandems are not allowed due to track insurance reasons. Basically there would be no insurance should two cars be drifting in tandem, because of this it is single runs only. There will be a drivers briefing at 9:45AM FOR ALL PRACTICE DAYS. ALL DRIVERS wanting to drive MUST attend this briefing before heading out on track. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE! Throughout the duration of the event there will be NO CARS allowed across the track UNLESS there is an emergency OR a valid exemption (which must be approved by a committee member before the gates will be opened). There will be 30 minutes at the end of the day designated for all drivers to assist in sweeping the track surface and edges to return it to an acceptable condition. ALL DRIVERS MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE SWEEPING OF THE TRACK! REQUIREMENTS: The entry fee for this practice day is the same as it would be if you were going out to do some practice laps, which is $55 IF you are a member of a Motorsport Tasmania & CAMS affiliated car club such as the Hobart Sport Car Club or the Light Car Club of Tasmania. IF you are not a member of such club the fee will be $115. The fees are to be paid on the day. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: ADR approved helmet long sleeve shirt (flame retardant) long pants (flame retardant) appropriate foot ware (doesn't have to be race boots or cover the ankle) and a general road/track worthy car The following safety items are recommended, but not 100% required: fire extinguisher and metal bracket battery and tow indicator (stickers) secondary bonnet restraint ANY competitor will/can be asked to leave the track if found not following instructions of the day or doing the wrong thing that would danger themselves and others. This can and will result in the person being banned from the track and future days. For further details or clarification of anything written in this thread feel free to PM me. Cheers. Ben PLEASE NOTE- IF YOU DO NOT ASSIST IN THE SWEEPING OF THE TRACK AT THE END OF THE DAY AND ARE NOT GIVEN AN EXEMPTION TO DO SO THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NEXT PRACTICE DAY. Any questions or comments: PM Ben Purtell aka tas_180 [email protected] 0408 782 632
