I dunno if anyone has been having his problem but recently the gearbox has been getting annoyingly difficult to shift. especially in the case when I attempt to shift slightly faster than normal between 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th. This is for an R32 GTS-t. its as if when shifting from 1st to 2nd it doesn't crunch but it can't find the slot for 2nd. I have to shift like really slow for it to slot in nicely. I'm running an OS Giken button clutch thats a 5-puck I think and its pretty heavy on the feel. (it came with the car when I bought it so its been on the car for about 5 years now.) I also have to issue sometimes when slowing down to stop at traffic lights and moving at low-speeds in the carpark when I press the clutch and brake to slow down to stop and try to slot it in neutral it gets stuck in gear and I have difficulty pulling it into neutral. There's been scary moments where I've had to fight to stop the car at the lights cos its still in gear and keeps wanting to move forward!! The clutch is still running fine and and doesn't slip and I had to replace the Clutch Slave Cylinder (the one thats located next the to gearbox housing under the car) as it was leaking and I had to drive a day without any fluid in the reserviour. Would I need to also replace the Primary Clutch Cylinder too? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I just hope its nothing too serious where a simple oil-change would help.

Widest Possible Tyres On 17x9" Rims?
Jenius replied to BaysideBlue's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'm running 17x8 on the fronts and 17x9's on the rears . optimal tyres settings I've found so far are 235(45 profile) fronts and 255(40 profile) for daily use. I guess it also comes down the design of the sidewalls and the profile. I'm running Bridgestones Potenza S-02's (best tyres ever!) on the rear which have a great sidewall and tread pattern to suit wide rims (I've had 2 styles of S-02's so far and the 1st pair of 255's stretched over rims more while the 2nd pair sat evenly without stretching, Later on I found out the S-02's were designed for specific cars, 1st ones were for a Porsche 993 while the 2nd was for a HSV). You should also really take into account the offset of the rims your running too, against the tyres your thinking of putting on otherwise you may risk rubbing your guards. Hope it helps. -
Hi there, I've realised I've had a pair of Simmons FR's sitting in my shed for over the past year. They were replaced with a wider set of the same by the previous owner of my car and ended up with these as a spare. They are 17x8 in size and were originally sitting on the front. Basically brand new with some wear and were sitting on the car for a little over 6 months before he got bored and changed them. They've got rubber on them already which are Falken ZE326's at around 70-80%. They are 235 R17 45. I was thinking of putting them up for sale as they are wasting space. but I was also partial to the idea of keeping them as track rims. These are off an R32 GTS-t - asking around $600 for the pair. So I'm open to offers. the offset doesn't give it much dish but it'll clear the guards nicely on an R32. I'm located in Melbourne - sorry can't do interstate. check the attached image below.

Thanks Craved. yeah you were right. on the vacuum hoses going to the vacuum/boost sensor box thingy in the firewall came loose. I didn't even realise the car had idled differently.

Hi there, I just realised recently that my factory in-dash boost gauge is no longer reading any boost. even my aftermarket Apexi EL1 electronic boost gauge isn't seeing anything either. The car runs fine though. its just that the needles aren't even moving and is stuck at 0.0bar. Has this happened to anyone before? and is this easy to fix? Its for an R32 GTS-t. Thanks.

Will the rail suit R32's? -
well it wouldn't look right if you had the words Skyline written in japanese Katakana. it'll be just too long an impractical. I'm sure it'll look cool with the jap writing but reading the Katakana representation of Skyline would sound like Su'Ka'Ra'i'n'. or something like that. and Silvia would be Shi'Ru'Bi'A.

Some oldskool pics for ya Got these pics off some jap site I stumbled upon. unfortunately I've lost the link.

yeah I tried that already. but thanks for the advice. I ended up just dropping the car off at a mechanic to look at. we both now assessed that its some sort of vacuum leak somewhere.

Hey I've been having a few issues recently with the way my car is running. for some reason it feels like its running with a cylinder short as I'm losing power and the car isn't idling smoothly. so I thought I'd troubleshoot it by logically changing the sparkies and realised the previous owner had put in cheapo $5 ones. after a good 2 hours of replacing the sparkies the car ran fine and idled better. about 15 minutes into driving on the freeway it started running lumpy again the same as before I put the new sparkies in. I'm guessing it could be fuel issues as I filled up at a Mobil 7 Eleven outlet the other day so I'm guessing dodgy fuel. but it only happens at certain times and is more frequent every time I drive it. just wondering if anybody has any ideas of suggestions. I'm guessing it would be a simple case of a clogged injector or stuffed coil pack. I'd prefer a simple way out if given the chance.

cool thanks guys. pretty neat idea there Funkymonkey!

Hey just curious but I noticed my R32 where the Skyline word is normally embossed on the back of the car. I've got this extra panel on top of it where the words are backed by a silver transparent material. after some browsing online I found that it was an optional light up panel which glowed a lowlit green at night when the lights were on. I know its normally disconnected during compliance but I'm just wondering if anybody has managed to get there's working again and whether it looks good. also wondering if its easy to reconnect? I just know that green may look a little retarded so I'm just also wondering if anyone has managed to change the colour at all?

yeah a forester would be a good choice if you want good power. its a shame they're having the restrictions now. be a good pimpin' wagon and good as a practical run around. I'm not too sure which cars are restricted but I know there are some NA cars worth having, DC2 integra, Corolla Sportivo or even a fully worked AE86.

hmm I don't mind either cars. but speaking from experience of having driving both and ending up owning an R32 myself. I found that even though the R33 is faster and newer and to some shallow minds 'Pull chicks' more lol. I went the r32 cos I wanted a driver oriented car. sure its old and not as beefy and mean looking stock as an R33 but its lighter and more chuckable. sure the r33 has more power stock too but I'm not into the whole drag thing cos there's no skill involved. The r33 feels a little too boring. its like nissan went back to a conversative approach as it looked more like a family car. I feel like I'm driving a maxima or camry when I'm in one. I'm not dissing the R33's as they are great cars to drive still. but I'm just hearing they are becoming the next VL commo if you know what I mean. anyways thats my 2 cents. try em out. stock and modded form would be a good testing variable. should also check out the R34 while your at it. big improvement.

damn all these posts have given my lots of flashbacks so I'll guess I'll add the stuff I also remember, my first PC when I was 10yrs old - IBM Clone Intel 80286 16Mhz with ultra cool 256 Colour VGA card and 1st ever Creative Soundblaster. Sega GameGear Nintendo Gameboy (them beige bricks) NES (them bigger grey bricks with ultra ergonomic gamepads) Nike Air Jordans (I had a pair of the 7th gen ones cost me like $180 back then) tv shows like MacGyver, The A-Team, Knightrider, Hardcastle and McCormick, Moonlighting, Remington Steele, The Goodies and the Benny Hill Show. classic 80's action movies like all those arnie movies like The Terminator, Raw Deal, Commando, Predator, The Running Man and Sly movies like Cobra, Rocky series and Rambo. don't forget all those b-grade classics like No Retreat, No Surrender, Blood Sport and Kickboxer. the oldskool performance car seen such as VH Commo's with massive 15inch simmons or hotwires and the dark purple tints. Actually seeing the Nissan Mid-4 concept car at the 1986 Melbourne motorshow and later on the R32 GT-R at the 1992 motorshow. being driven around as a kid in my uncles his brand new Nissan Pulsar ET Turbo he just picked up playing euro dance hits like Modern Talking, Paul Lekakis and Sabrina. thats about all I remember so far from that era. but for some reason I remember the Macca's burgers being bigger and in them Styrofoam containers.

Hi I've never been to any of the SAU meetings. but I'd like to come check it out. is parking going to be much of an issue around that area?

Here's a little guide as what the differences were. check out the pic attached. aside from the brakes being different. the standard GTS-t didn't come with electronic climate control, or the GT-R steering wheel. and there were minor trim differences. there were a couple of body kit options available for the r32 GTS-t. the so-called Type-M front bar with the more squared off look was actually an option offered to customers as well as the side skirts. projector headlights were also seen as an option so you'd sometimes also see R32 GTR's even with the non projector headlights.

I have a friend that works for Just Cars insurance. basically he's told me that CF Bonnets aren't covered in their policies. although bodykits are. he didn't tell me why but I think it might've been a safety thing.

Don't worry too much, its a pretty normal thing. I've had 2 turbo cars first one being the Mazda 626 Turbo in relatively stock form and it glowed pretty much every time after I drove it frequently at boost and it was factory intercooled. The 2nd one being the R32 which is mildly tuned and the glow was pretty apparent in that too. just not as obvious with the heat shield. you'll only see it glowing straight after you've driven it hard and pop the hood. its a lot more obvious at night after a good twisty run. if its the exhaust turbine thats glowing than thats pretty normal. they're designed to withstand 100's of degrees of heat. but if its the compressor turbine thats glowing than thats definitely not good a good thing. just hope it isn't glowing white hot because that can be a bad thing too.

Hmm my first time was in an R32 GTS-t Type-M that my mate had just picked up. the car had only been here from japan for about 2 months back in 2000. it had been mildly modded with just the 5Zigen exhaust and KYB Suspension. I'd never thought 5 years later I'd actually end up owning that very same car. ^_^
