S A U - N S W Winter 2014 Tech Arvo About E C Us With J E M
Tats replied to GTR-N1's topic in Events Archive
Terry, Shell won't be making it on Saturday (i'm still in) - another spot free for a reserve :-) -
2014 booking disappeared from QR calendar (sorry about that non-refundable booking champ!), NTA website says "starting 2015" but also no booking at QR.

Shit go mate Newington was a beautiful spot but it seems the premium increase that my insurer wanted to apply when we moved there wasn't totally unjustified. All the best for getting it back in one piece.

Part of my surprise was Richard's investment in time - that was at least 7 hours + filming time without a Woodstock in hand!

Potential drawbacks/pitfalls of the less costly "piggyback" devices - Apexi S-AFC, TRUST/GReddy eManage? Or, more optimistically, setups where they may be appropriate? -

Yes from myself and Shell please -
If the Weekend Gods are kind I'd love to come for a social game! I'm happy to represent V35/V36 because SAU NSW cares about V series Skylines and welcomes all members who own them

Don't get discouraged if you're not seeing career advancement quickly, I work for a large company in sales and I see plenty of young reps who crack the poos when they're not an account manager within 12 months - if the job isn't vacant then it may just be a matter of time and patience. I was repping for 3 years waiting for a chance to move up. Also be mindful of the risk of waiting for too long on starting a trade - higher minimum wage = higher costs for the business owner so I'd make a bet that all of the owner-operator small business tradesmen would turn you down in favour of a $300/week school leaver.

Understand frustration around extended timeframes in compliance but i'd take a moment before rushing into demanding phone calls. Pretty sure they won't give you the car until the bill is paid, and a rational conversation will get you a lot further than a Jordan Belfort effort.

Team Meeting In Canberra - Where To Go?
Tats replied to Tats's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Thanks guys. Richard does the Tower actually have meeting rooms? That would be a laugh for sure! -
Hi guys, Hoping you can help me out with some local knowledge! Some of my colleagues will be coming down to Canberra in April for a 3 day team meeting and I've been tasked with setting things up on this end. I'm sorting out accommodation and dinner venues and stuff but there's a couple of things that I would love some input on from people who know the place: Need a room for us to actually have the meeting. I could just book a conference room in the hotel but let's face it, those things are as dry and boring as decroded old dog turds no matter where they are. Is there anywhere more interesting that I could pay to have a nicer room, or somewhere more fun? Also need ideas for a half-day activity. Again something fun for a bunch of young-ish people but has to be "work appropriate" - let's say somewhere between a PG and M rating. Would appreciate any suggestions that you have!

Post reserved -
ha time is it? Event: SAU NSW Texikhana Location: Nirimba Airfield / TAFE / Skidpan - same place as last time (yeah, it's got a few names) Location map: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=-33.722323,150.874898&num=1&t=h&z=19 Date: 16th March 2014 What is it: Skidpan courses marked with orange things that we'd kindly appreciate if you drove around rather than over Entry cost SAUNSW members: $55 Entry fee Entry cost Non SAUNSW members: $75 Entry fee (If you plan to enter more than 1 or more events with us it pays to be a funded member) Entries strictly capped at Max. 30 cars. This guarantees loads of runs and minimal wait time but if you don't sign up, well you snooze you lose. The last event was a sellout so get it quick to reserve your spot. Spectators: Free to watch Lunch: BBQ will be $3 snag sandwich and $1.50 cans (selection of flavours available) Passengers: $10 which is cheap compared to other clubs and events, (SUPPORTS OUR CLUB!!!) , MUST sign on, MUST wear wrist to neck/ankle clothing with enclosed shoes and approved helmet, same as drivers. Courses: Released on the day at sign on First timers: Don't be shy, you'll love it. Those of you that have been to one of these before will agree, this is the best money you can spend as far as driving time for an event. The event will be run after run until 4.30pm, and considering most runs are under 1 minute AND that we're kicking off at 9am, that's a lot of runs This is a safe event where you only go as hard as you want to, there's no pressure, one car on a course at a time. Perfect for beginners to have a first try at driving their pride and joy off the streets. With that said, there's usually some friendly competition between mates, which is great to watch Timing for the day: Scrutineering/sign on starts - 7.00am Scrutineering/sign on ends - 8.30am (don't show up at 8.25am, come with plenty of time to spare) Drivers brief - 8.40am (mandatory attendance all drivers) Runs start - 9.00am Lunch approx - 12.30pm depending on how the day is going (One hour) Runs stop - 4.45pm Gates close - 5.00pm Entrants please note: -All entered cars must arrive in time for and pass scrutineering, no exceptions. -All drivers must be licensed (AASA or CAMS) and show valid licence and expiry date at sign on. -All cars must have an insurance approved fire extinguisher secured within drivers reach. -Sidepipes are not allowed. Screamers/external gates venting to atmosphere are also not allowed to be entered. No exceptions (this is not my choice, I ♥ gate) -Entries are open now, entries close as stated in Supplementary Regulations (at bottom of this post) to allow time for officials to organise paperwork. -Supp regs and Entry Form are soon to be attached. Entry forms without payment will be rejected. -Yes you can join SAUNSW on the day (allow an extra 5mins at sign on) -There is no EFTPOS/Credit Card machine on site, so bring cash and we will have change there for you. If you can bring close to the right amount, that's helpful. Regarding your motorsport licence: Due to changing policy at AASA we cannot process licence applications on the day. AASA or CAMS licences (or proof thereof) must be organised prior and brought to the event. AASA can provide a fax confirmation of your licence status if you require one at shorter notice (bare minimum 2 weeks). Also, CAMS licences can be renewed online if you have previously held an L2NS or L2S. URL HERE: CLICK ME!! I hate to even briefly interrupt some good kebab chat, I just thought I'd put this here as my employer is looking for a new sales rep to cover the ACT & NSW Riverina area. Great opportunity for anyone who is interested in an entry level sales role with a global business. http://www.mars.com/global/careers/job-search/job-details.aspx?JobReferenceNo=NEW00703&SelectedLanguageID=2&CareerSite=10300

Congrats and a massive thanks to Daniel and the team at Carbon Car Systems for putting on an excellent night! Many things to take away on issues like car security and window tints that boofheads like me were totally unaware of. The presentation was slick and informative and we all really appreciated the effort that the whole CCS team went to in hosting our group. Thanks again. Also a great big thank you to Terry for organising the night for the members of SAU NSW.
