for a genuinely good bloke try Alistair at Powerplay in Drummoyne - cheaper labour than that I think and will give you good advice and not just want to sell you the biggest turbo in stock :wassup: PS - I am just giving the thread starter my experience and not devaluing other advice or implying others here are wrong, I seem to have to qualify things or people get :pissed:

not necessarily cause of the weight in the chassis for 180sx - more depends on mods 1st track day of mine anywhere (and still is) was at Wakefield, did 1:17 in RB20 180sx, 9psi, CA intercooler and radiator pathetically tiny and water temp peaking after 2 hard laps - return with me new cooling mods me reckons :wassup:

I say good on you for using your head and realising u arent schui when u start driving. Maybe wait until u got some experience in decent power RWD b4 getting too geed about drifting though depending on ur budget I suppose I would have to say you might be able to get a more nimble and fun package if u go with the S13s. Black top sr20det is the pick or even a CA18DET for less and they are great fun, bit lighter than the cheaper skylines (however if u had more $$ also for mods more potential from R32/33). 180SX looks better me reckons (than S13 silvia) Im like you but I love the skylines and RBs so I got the best of both worlds - RB20 in 180sx -sounds much better and great top end in lighter chassis. If u are a skyline nut also u could put any of the RB engines in later on!! anyway lots of good ways to go just my ideas

im sure people can get on here and say me mate dave got 260rwkw with the stock rb20 afm, but seriously uve set the car up nicely so why not sell the stocky for $100 or something get a z32 for $220 or something, get it tuned definately have no worries the z32 will definately be better for the tune for that power than the stocky - better resolution its not really that the rb20 one is restrictive

I have a tug-off valve on mine (not sure if its legal) flows heaps better than standard and even filters the air and you can plug in a laptop and tune it for performance - much better than the Brotec trust me

I have a set of stocky r33 suspension but in sydney......how much would postage be for these things

since no one has/can answer my questions ill help you (even though you should have searched and read), 1)unclear question but plumback is best for smoothness of running because no air is 'magically lost' due to the bov 2)yes they make much less noise and are hence legal, but you will still hear a plumback bov through an aftermarket air filter 3)yes r32s have plumback bovs standard (almost all these nissan turbos have stock plumback bovs) remember the only function of a bov is to prevent back pressure from a suddenly closed throttle reaching the turbocharger which would slow boost response and may eventually cause shaft play in the turbo

stocky or greddy plumback me reckons anyone know if actuation times are any different for stocky vs aftermarket? and has anyone had probs with boost levels on stock bovs? i know im nit picking

yeh i agree it can be a problem, im just not sure how the oil is supposed to be combusting in the intake pipe. sucked air is carrying the oil onto the element in the scenario, and also the air would take some off the element etc it just gunks it i spose cause the afm element sends a voltage to the ecu which is sensitive to air velocity in the afm (then calculates air flow with the diameter of the afm/pi etc) for the hks one $50-$60 for a new filter sponge, not sure technically how long you should change it but would depend on the conditions/look of the filter - cant clean these ones maybe others can talk for other ones

i would have thought just the oil gets on the afm element over time and hinders its ability to send the correct voltage to the ecu........just get an apexi or HKS one there are more important things to worry bout me reckons.......apparently HKS ones might not filter aswell in the long run but you can replave the filter sponge for like $60

some of the prices here seem a little inflated and ive read time and time again that if bosch pumps are installed correctly they arent any (or much at all) louder and or surgey (i dont think thats a word!!)
