inissane replied to inissane's topic in Engines & Forced Induction

doesnt need another pump, you can get kits from $400 up to whatever you want to pay just for the adapter and hosing and then say 3-400 for a name cooler - just doesnt seem economical to me, hopefully a cheaper way...... -
hey people, got a q regarding rb20 just wondering if it is possible to use an auto transmission cooler as an oil cooler? (or if this is a stupid question  ) Or is the expensive part the adapter and tubing/fittings and hence this saving is perhaps not worth it? I could source an oil cooler for $150 or get an auto tranny cooler if it is possible ??????- a small intercooler would be useless i guess cause of the internal resistance to flow and the end tanks any input would be apprec

well said oosh i agree completely, most are looking for a cheap easy improvement in cooling with no extra hardware that simply isnt worth the effort

so its a tam ko type s? you cant hear plumbacks very much maybe even less so on an auto are you saying there is two spots on the bov to hook up the pressure line from the plenum?
-
i am looking at the same bov asked a q a while ago but got no love so i am none the wiser tech people dont find this interesting so not much help around for bovs i reckon all you need to do to get rid of plumback is to blank the spot or spots on the afm to turbo lines were they plumbed back in - maybe hack saw the orig metal piping ang get a blank welded on the end then chuck on a clamp PS i have no exp whatsoever with gtr's so unsure of atmo or plumback setup but i would guess a plumback system would still be a bit smoother in all conditions as the ecu will know more accurately how much air its breathing

word seems to be a r33 turbo for a mild 20-30rwkw benefit and then down the track a high flow and you would be laughing, or could just high flow the stocky, then like new other good option is a 2530 or gtrs depends on ur preference/$$ i guess
-
i reckon u need a bosch 044 external pump with a surge tank fed by the stock pump, can get these pumps for bout $335, supports up to 360rwkw 330l/hr, may be better value than the nismo i suspect the nismo or GTR pump would be maxed with 260-300rwkw even with good voltage supply

I am looking to fit a bov to stop compressor surge on an rb20, will be fitted within one or two feet of custom piping from the throttle and be plumbed back post afm. Boost 9-13psi but in the future with a larger turbo may run up to say 20psi. 2.5" piping, stock throttle/plenum, taking this into account I was wondering what size/type bov would best suit my application? Its just that it seems a bit like a lottery when buying an aftermarket bov whether it will run smoothly, not stall, cause extra lag cause it is too large diameter/spring tension differences (though these are often adjustable). I am currently eyeing the greddy type rs and plumbing back from the nozzle. I dont have a stock bov with the engine but dont place much value on bling or sound factor so if there is a stock one off any car thatll do the job that would be fine. PS - I hope this doesnt turn into a what bov do you have or which one sounds the best thread  cheers
