Help Needed With Mods For My R32
femno replied to colesy_skyline r32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Correct. Forget about the 044, its too big. The 040 is what you want, its the closest thing to 'bolt in' and will do the job more than easily. Dont go a GTR fuel pump, its old and like you said new Bosch ones arent expensive. Steer clear of Walbro pumps. Forget this idea you have about 900cc injectors. Bigger is not always better, you have to be smart about things. Go the 440s. If they come out a engine that its running perfectly, and if you dont let them sit around, there shouldnt be a need to clean them, but if you want piece of mind, go right ahead. The comments about cam gears not doing anything on standard cams is complete bullshit. Cam gears make a huge difference to midrange and top end, more importantly power delivery. A gain of about 20kw depending on your turbo can be had in the midrange just with cam gears. No need to change bolts in GKTECH cam gears. -
Making Caliper Brackets - How To?
femno replied to darrinspencer's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Damn. This thread is good for me as Im having all sorts of trouble finding alcon 315 rear disc hats, so I figured to use an AP 330mm disc and make a a caliper bracket...but now I read this probably wont work!! Bloody brakes!! Theyre a pain in the ass! If you dont spend 10 grand on a kit that is. -
Pat as a last resort try fitting adjustable rear traction arms. Youll need camber arms to go with them, and from my understanding you should lengthen the traction rods an amount to acquire more grip. Have you fixed that vibration yet?

Tyre Set-ups On Big Power Set-ups
femno replied to Tomek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I know its probably a little too far ahead for ya but I run Hankook Ventus K104 18x285x35s and theyre pretty hard to break traction with...360kw with responsive twins...theyre sick out around the twisties and what not. With the fuse pulled its a fairly different story though lol. Ive also got a set of Conti Sport Contacts, 17x245x45, they are also very grippy, I use them for track time to time and they do very very well, they take ages to wear out too. I manage to keep up with supercharged VNs running full slicks and MX5s on semis (around corners haha). -
Ideally you would want a GTR exhaust. I went for a sound test with a GTSt exhaust on my GTR aaages ago, and it was still over the limit! The GTR exhaust has more effective mufflers. They let it slide though.
-
Haha yeah thanks, we thought about that, but we thought if were going to leave the trailer somewhere with the cans in it, well just put the cans in the car instead. Probably have to open the windows though!

Washers in tension? Hehe It has to be something stupidly obvious. Maybe the thread is not bottoming out but the length of thread isnt long enough, as in the pumps thread is working its way onto the shank of the banjo bolt - this is all basic stuff. Why are you using banjos anyway? Why not regular straight dash fittings? What brand shit are you using?
-
WOW Thats a massive red 'R'!! Would stand out like dogs balls in a crowd!! I rkn its a cool hoody.
-
Why not just weld the flex straight to the manifolds? Same idea as welding in a hardpipe but use the flex joint, just cut the flanges off.

Pics?

Matt! Check out the for sale section, Trent from Mercury has just posted up a set of new HKS2530s! I had the same problem 2 years ago, trying to get a set of -5s. I cant believe theyre still hard to get! I think I saw a new set on ebay a week or two ago as well!
-
Haha, now after this huge thread, and after so much arguing, can someone please post up a pic of the hoodie? I still dont even know what it looks like! Need to see what all this fuss is about...! P.S No more need for arguing.

18x10 +22 Work Termist Wheels Suit Gtrs
femno replied to Dynamix's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Theyre not Work Termists, theyre Work Maximers. If you look at one of the spokes it says 'Maximer'. I have these wheels, the fit is PERFECT and they look unbelievably TOUGH. They dont make these anymore, get in quick! Good price!! Free bump! -
Help Needed With Mods For My R32
femno replied to colesy_skyline r32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The HKS2530 is pretty much a direct bolt-on. This turbo is extremely responsive, and gives you awesome midrange power. It can make up to about 220kw with one of these, although it will blow your budget at a touch over a grand. But its really worth the extra money. Fitting a standard R33 turbo will limit you to 13psi as the ceramic wheels are at risk or exploding running anything more. Fitting a fuel pressure regulator WILL NOT give you more torque. lol. Splitfires wont give you more power, they are just the ideal replacements for faulty standard coilpacks. Fit GTR injectors with a Bosch 040 fuel pump (closest to direct fit), they are a bolt-in item, but must be used with the GTR resistor pack (have a search for what that is). A Nisstune will run the show beautifully and is very good value for money, pending you have a tuner that can install and tune this. Adjustable cam gears are a MUST, gains of about 20kw in the midrange can be had by fitting and adjusting these. -
You sure you have the right ones? Not all RB engines take the same coilpacks. You dont fix problems by fitting aftermarket parts. If you have a factory ECU, it should run like factory, with factory parts. You clearly have a problem somewhere, you need to fix that before you even think about modding.

R32 Rb25det Conversion Worth It?
femno replied to battery's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well considering the 32 is lighter, clearly not. We did this conversion in my mates car a month or so ago, he spent 3k on a written off 33 S2 (quite cheap), we had the engine loom done by a guy on here who does them for $350, you send him your R32 loom and R33 loom and he sends you one back that you plug in and start the car Thats all he spent really. With about 3 of us doing it, we got it done in 2 days. If you had a mechanic do this I would expect 2-3k in labour. Although we didnt put the 25 box in, thats for another rainy day. Maybe $2-300 in tailshaft, speedo and crossmember modifications...? Driving it after, all stock except for a Greddy Turnflow cooler, and 3" exhaust, it was QUICK! It snapped second all the way up the road! Having said that you could still get the same peak power with a HKS2530 on your RB20, although you would have no-where near the amount of low end power/midrange the 25 engine does. Id drive a 33 and see how they drive, it will make your mind up real quick. -
Hmm not cutting any corners with parts? JJR Coilpacks? Hmm...I wouldnt When I hear T04Z I think about the Signal Auto R34 and how unreal that thing sounds...After watching that video I went out and bought HKS Step 2s! Too bad I never used them. Yes ive heard of a few who have removed their Z's and Cams for standard stuff...at the end of the day it comes down to what you want....midrange or a massive power hit. Seeing as you are hoping for the big numbers I would assume a big hit? It will be fun, waiting, waiting, then BOOM youre 4-wheel sliding from one side of the road to the other

Pics of the R32 bonnet to [email protected] please. Or if not could you post them in here. Does it have the huge bulge at the back? (Windscreen end) Cheers.

That does look like a fairly simple system, I guess yes the principle is exactly the same as the 25 VCT, oil supply, a solonoid to switch it on and off...this is awesome! The thing I like most is the HKS POWER rocker cover. Its very very special, and they even give you the little red V-CAM badge! This car will be insane...considering Aaron's 34 with the 2.8 and -5s made 350kw at 3,500 rpm? and 450 at like 7 something? (Cant remember exactly). Built by the same genius plus the V-Cam....I really cant wait to see the graph... Really good work on the pics Matt, its like were all opening the box ourselves! Except we dont get to touch and do other naughty things with the parts

Just dont do it. I would expect: Custom Dump Pipes Custom Oil Feed Lines Custom Oil Return Lines Custom Water Lines Custom Turbo Intakes Custom Compressor Outlets Custom Intercooler Piping Pretty much custom everything all just to save a few hundred....just by bolt ons.

Nismo Thermostat: Swapped Silvia/180sx Allowed?
femno replied to Neejay's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Depending on what loom you have running the Rb25, it shouldnt be an exception. Whats wrong with 88deg? -
Why the hell didnt you just use a RB25DET ECU? Exhaust light = ECU fault code.
