  1. To be honest, I dont really know... I think that it is mainly a bad earth or a short somewhere because the alternator works perfectly and the battery recieves over 14v or charge when the engine is revving, but it constantly loses charge and goes flat. I would assume that it would be a couple of hundred to get an auto-elec to fix (mainly labour).
  2. OK, I really need this gone now... Make an offer... No reasonable offers refused

  4. You should have placed the camera further away from the exhaust James, its too distorted.
  5. That sort of damage is pretty typical of a street tyre that has been used on the track... I have seen it many many times before. The tyre has heated up to a point where the tread has become too soft and too hot to handle the forces being applied to it and it has lifted tread blocks and "chunked" (technical term ). This will happen to just about any street tyre that is used for extended track work because they arent built to withstand the sorts of temps that you generate on the track.
  6. Nope, it hasnt moved from my house in about 2 months because it has electrical gremlins... It only starts when it feels like it
  7. I havent recieved anything in my PM folder
  8. Cool, send me a PM and we can talk money
  9. I havent checked the Kms recently but I think its at about 300 thou... 1. It should pass rego without issue once the electrics and exhaust gaskets are fixed. 2. The tyres have plenty of tread, one of them is worn unevenly due to a bad alignment that has since been fixed. 3. No interior or engine bay pics... I'll have to get the camera out again. There is very little left to do to get this Z running almost like new again... I just dont have the space to finish it.
  10. Call Trojan Motorsport - they usually have used systems that they can spare. Ph: (02) 6242 6277
  11. I would slap myself... I'll probably be buried in my Skyline
  12. Hi all, The time has come to part with what was once meant to be another project car... I have moved house and dont have the time, money or room to work on 2 projects at once anymore... My R32 has to take preference. So, reluctantly I am hoping that an enthusiast will take it and start working on it from where I left off... Details: Red 1985 300ZX non-turbo Australian release. Drivetrain, suspension and brakes: Automatic Shifts perfectly. Fully rebuilt, have receipts. Suspension is tight, shocks, springs and bushes were replaced a few years ago. Steering is tight and direct - new rack boots installed, new power steering belt and fluid. Brakes are perfect, Calipers overhauled front and rear. Rear discs are brand new and fronts have lots of meat on them. Wheels are stock 15" Engine: VG30E 3.0 V6 Strong motor, doesnt blow smoke, regularly serviced. Exhaust manifold gasket needs to be replaced (gasket supplied) on the drivers side. Needs a new starter motor. Interior: Light brown colour, seats and carpets are ok condition but worn. Dash is cracked but not faded. All electrics work (power windows, guages etc.). Autotechnica sports steering wheel and boss kit (have the original wheel as well). Alpine CD / MP3 player and aftermarket speakers. Exterior: Paint is a bit faded, needs a good polish (photos below are after a good hand polish). Bumpers have some scrapes but nothing too serious. Body is fairly straight (some small dents), no fiberglass repairs or bog. Summary: This a good example of an 85' Z, is comfortable to drive, goes well and will make an excellent cruiser for someone who can put in a little work to get it back to excellent condition. As I said before, the only reason I am selling is because I have moved house and simply cant finish the work I started on it. I have spent thousands repairing and replacing most of the original parts but there are still some things left to do... The starter motor needs replacing because it works whenever it decides to, there is a short in the headlight wiring somewhere (low beams work fine) and the exhaust needs some gaskets replaced - thats about it (I think). It even comes with the original equipment leather pouches for the targa roof! I bought this car for $2,500 and have spent at least that much again restoring it.... All I am asking for without rego is: $1,200 ono I can re-new the rego for extra if you want. The car is at my house located in Canberra (south) Leave a post in this thread if you are interested and I will reply as soon as I can. Cheers, Mick
  13. If this is actually a serious question then here is the answer: You wont find any shop anywhere that will pay you for an unrepairable, unusable tyre. Tyre shops actually have to pay a disposal charge to have the unusable tyres that they pull off cars disposed of, so... Unfortunately you are basically stuck with a brand new round, black piece of useless rubber unless you pay the charge to have it properly disposed of.
  14. Ok, my bad... If it was a 626 then it must have been an old one. My point about commercial media still stands though
  15. Just a quick point... Never believe commercial media: "Williams was driving a stolen Mazda 626 and being chased by NSW Police northbound along Canberra Avenue on Saturday night when he smashed into the Mazda 3 occupied by the troubled couple and their infant child". This quote is taken directly from the Canberra Times online article and is completely wrong... My girlfriend and I drove past this smash on Sunday morning and I can tell you that there wasnt a Mazda 626 or a Mazda 3 involved. The cars were actually an early 90's model Mitsubishi Lancer and a late 90's model Mazda 323 Astina. If they cant get these details correct then how can you trust that any of the other details are correct? (I hate sensationalised, crap, commercial media)
  16. I can't believe you're selling my car!! For shame! But seriously - $7,500 for this car is a bargain... I can vouch for how well it has been looked after it's whole life... Sad to see it go.
  17. Sorry guys, the Federal tent wont be there this year... Its in Adelaide at the moment. If someone else has a fold out gazebo or tent of some kind please bring it along or we'll all get sunburnt!
  18. You will find that the 595RS-R's last a surprisingly long time considering that they only have a treadwear rating of 140. I have had 225/45R17 and 255/40R17 595RS-R's on my R32 Gtst which has 265rwkw (and I dont drive slowly) for around 40,000kms and they will definitely last another 10,000kms at least... I do check my pressures every week and rotate (strip and fit them from side to side) every 10,000kms though.
  19. Personally I am sick and tired of hearing about "hoons" and 'P' platers terrorising the innocent on our roads... We all know that because we own and drive Skylines we are branded as "hoons" and thats always the way it is going to be as long as there are so called current affairs programs like ACA and Today Tonight reporting sensationalised propaganda stories about how anyone who drives a modified car is only on the road to kill and maim small children, puppies and kittens. As long as we as a club and individually stay within the laws, keep the silly stuff for the track and closed roads we may be able to change the perception of the Police, other drivers and media for the better.... (unlikely, but we can hope). *Just my two cents*
