275/30/19 For $220 Cheap?
Bullet32 replied to duff's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Im not saying that you dont need good tyres for the street and I am not saying that the tyres he has bought are brilliant, I am saying that he has bought tyres that have a UTQG rating and DOT approval - meaning that regardless of how "crap" people say they are, they will stop the car and they will turn the car well enough for them to be considered road worthy... In my opinion this means that they are satisfactory. Whether they perform better than more expensive or more well known brands is beside the point, the point is that he has bought tyres that suit the wheels that he chose for the car, he is obviously fairly happy with them so far and when he came here to ask whether he got them for the right price he was instantly put down for his choice. Believe it or not but I do know a little bit about tyres and I know how important they are, I realise that there are much better tyres available but to be brutally honest he could have bought worse tyres. -
Whoa, now that you mention it... I've been here for nearly 4 years! I feel so old!!

I cant understand why you people are having a go at this guy? Not everyone knows what the best tyres are for every application. A lot of the time when people visit a tyre shop the salesperson will tell them that the tyres that they are recommending are "good value" or "good performance". For someone with little knowledge of tyres to hear a dealer say "these tyres are good" is usually very convincing. The fact that he bought 19' rubber for the street doesnt really matter, as he said he plans on using lighter smaller 17' wheels and stickier tyres for the track (which is the best way to do it). I personally think that 19's are a bit too big for Skylines but thats only my opinion... If he prefers to have 19's then thats his business, we are all individuals. -
By the sound of it you have incorrectly installed the bleed valve (boost controller) and may have blown the turbo... 1. When it made the "pop" noise, were you revving the engine? 2. What line did you install the bleed valve in and are you sure that you didnt put it in upside down? 3. Have you tried removing the bleed valve and returning the engine to near stock, then starting it? Where abouts are you located in Canberra? - If you need someone to check it I may be able to help. P.S. Do NOT buy a second hand turbo... If you do need a new turbo, buy a new quality branded product from a reputable dealer or you may regret it in the long run.

This is an awesome thread... Maybe someone could have a go at doing mine? (I dont have any good pictures of the rear but it has a big Trust cannon muffler and stainless exhaust).

Could someone good with Photoshop please change the wheels (attached) to gloss black? I know that this request pops up all the time so I thought I would make it easier by cutting the wheels out of the photo myself. Thanks...

Depends on whether the cloudiness is on the inside or outside of the lense.

Generation X just means that your parents were a part of the "baby boomers" generation. Generation Y are the product of generation X... (At least thats how I understand it). -

Even though I am considered part of generation X, I have to agree with everything you guys have said. In my experience there is no respect for authority anymore. I remember that when I was 16 - 17 years old I respected Police and was always a little scared of them, but now I see young kids back talking, insulting, swearing and abusing them... And the cops do nothing to them in return! I have also had first hand experience with f@#kwit bogan 16 - 17 year olds who live one house down from us, they have 0% respect for others and have regular early morning (2 - 3am) screaming matches on the front lawn, parties that always get ugly and also regular drug abuse... I have seen the cops turn up at least 5 times in as many months but they never actually do anything Its no wonder that they think they can get away with anything these days. End another rant! -
D.a Driver And Family Passed Away In Vic
Bullet32 replied to nerm's topic in Australian Capital Territory
That is a tragic loss... Luke and his father Alan were sensational people, I had the pleasure of spending some time with them at the final 2 rounds of Drift Australia 2008 and we talked many times on the phone. Truly a terrible waste of young talent and genuinely nice people. -
Isnt that the Supra that put down over 490rwkw at Final Battle last year??

Thats a pretty bold statement... Not all Australian cars are shit... I personally would have a new Falcon turbo any day.

I totally agree with you Jayce... I am in no way a sexist at all but I drive on the Monaro Hwy almost everyday and whenever I see some moron speeding, swerving in to the smallest spots and cutting people off, all in an effort to get to work 30 seconds sooner - 9 out of 10 times it is a young female in a small hatchback (the other 1 out of 10 is usually an idiot in a great big 4wd thinking he can muscle his way through the traffic). Why not get up and leave 5 minutes earlier in the morning instead of risking the lives of yourself and dozens of other drivers by making stupid split second lane changes and speeding!? end rant -
Are These Rims/tyre Repairable ?
Bullet32 replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You cannot possibly say whether the tyre in question is fine or not without taking it off the rim and having someone experienced in tyres inspect it. I personally have seen multiple cases where a low profile tyre has taken a hard hit from a gutter or pothole and shown no signs of damage on the outside, but have fractured the internal casing - resulting in loss of pressure, blow out or worse. My advice is to do this before you fit the wheel back onto the car and drive on it... Better safe than sorry. (BTW, I have worked for a national tyre importer/distributor for a few years now and have inspected plenty of damaged tyres). -
Whats wrong with Newgel? After all a ute that they had a big part in building won every single Autosalon show in 2008.

Bullet32 replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
There is no way to tell if that tyre is still useable (safe) from looking at those photos. The reason is that no one can tell you whether you have done internal damage to the casing or not. Your best bet is to take it to your local tyre shop, have it taken off the wheel and inspected. If there is damage to the internal construction of the tyre then it would probably be unsafe to use. -
Enough said...
