Compared to other semi slicks on the market, they're quite good in the wet... I find them quite predictable as long as you remember that you're driving on a semi slick tyre.
Have a look on the www.federaltyres.com.au for your local dealer, they can give you a price fitted an balanced.
I cant quote you any prices on here but try the "dealer locator" function on the website (above), I would probably recommend 255/35R18's.
I understand that there are always going to be people who have a bad run with Federals because there are people who have a bad run with ANY brand of tyre, I have personally talked to dozens of people who have been very unhappy with other brands (that I wont mention) aswell as people who have been unhappy with Federal, I can be almost certain that I have heard just about every story there is when it comes to tyres delaminating, wearing unevenly, punctures etc. as it is my job to constantly research the market and find out what is happening in the world of tyres (I work for the national importer/distributor for Federal Tyres).
You might say that I am touchy on this subject, but I prefer to say that I am simply putting to rest any myths, rumours or uneducated opinions that arise due to bad experiences with the tyres, too often someone will make a statement that a certain tyre is badly made and has low quality control when they havent done their homework and inturn other people jump on the band wagon and start rubbishing the brand... Thats how bad brand perception starts, I'm here to make sure that people have the right information. Thats all.
Youre correct in saying that there was an issue with delamination of the 595 series, however - that was the earliest release of the 595's and since then Federal have redesigned the tyre with better tread compounds and casings to help improve the tyres heat resistence.
However - the 595RS and RS-R have always proved to be very reliable on and off the track, I have only ever once seen a delamination on an RS and that was because the tyre was damaged due to hitting the sharp upper edge of a ripple strip at high speed.
Youre welcome to use whatever tyres you like, but you have to realise that there are also other people who like using brands that you dont.
