  1. Open forums are wonderful places to air opinions and personal perceptions. They are also a place to pass on experience and knowledge to a broad base audience regarding new product opportunities. Manufacturer consultation, personal experience, track days, and detailed feedback given to me are the basis for my comments and winners are grinners, so at the end of the day the product will be the ultimate governor of what works and what doesn’t. Good luck with your tyre choice.
  2. You forgot piston rings...
  3. Here's the first one (bigger text)...
  4. Working on it... I need a high res photo of the rear quarter of an R34 GTR (preferably bayside blue) that isnt copyrighted. If anyone has one that we can use for the banner please post it here.
  5. Well said Ross, I'm keen for the Skyline V Supra battles... I would prefer to take you guys on the track than the strip though.
  6. You dont lose handling by locking out the HICAS, I noticed that mine handles better without it... The only thing that the HICAS is good for is reducing the turning circle and helping with lane changing at speeds over 60kms. HICAS just gets in the way if your driving "enthusiastically".
  7. Remove HICAS with a lock out kit, your secondary pump has probably given up... Its a common problem with Skylines.
  8. The guys at ESP are awesome at what they do and they can certainly build amazing machines, however the reason that there arent that many Skylines there is because ESP sponsor the ACT Supra club and they market themselves as Supra specialists. I would trust them with my Skyline any day and I agree that there should be more Skylines getting work done there but I would also trust the boys at Trojan as well seeing as the specialise in Skylines and all things Nissan, I guess its just a matter of opinion. Oh and Glen and Daniel are really great blokes too
  9. Nope... Just tell admin to sort the new server issues out
  10. Tried re-posting the pic... Didnt work. I think we'll have to wait until all the bugs are ironed out of the new server (or something like that)...
  11. Hmmmm... Im not convinced. You can easily crowd it to much, all that the banner is for is to attract the eye of anyone who is wandering around at a show looking at cars, to show who we are and what club we're a part of... It doesnt have to incorporate every single Skyline ever made. I think we should put this to a vote.
  12. Andrew's buying a GTR!!! Cool
  13. HICAS - My R32 had very heavy steering when the electric HICAS pump died... Remove it with a locking kit and it should fix the problem.
  14. It would be extemely hard to get a photo of all the Skyline models side by side, damn near impossible actually... I know that its possible to photoshop all of them together but it would take a fair bit of time and effort and I think it would look far to crowded and busy. I think just having one car on it has more visual impact, perhaps we should vote on the most popular model?
  15. Compared to other semi slicks on the market, they're quite good in the wet... I find them quite predictable as long as you remember that you're driving on a semi slick tyre. Have a look on the www.federaltyres.com.au for your local dealer, they can give you a price fitted an balanced. I cant quote you any prices on here but try the "dealer locator" function on the website (above), I would probably recommend 255/35R18's. I understand that there are always going to be people who have a bad run with Federals because there are people who have a bad run with ANY brand of tyre, I have personally talked to dozens of people who have been very unhappy with other brands (that I wont mention) aswell as people who have been unhappy with Federal, I can be almost certain that I have heard just about every story there is when it comes to tyres delaminating, wearing unevenly, punctures etc. as it is my job to constantly research the market and find out what is happening in the world of tyres (I work for the national importer/distributor for Federal Tyres). You might say that I am touchy on this subject, but I prefer to say that I am simply putting to rest any myths, rumours or uneducated opinions that arise due to bad experiences with the tyres, too often someone will make a statement that a certain tyre is badly made and has low quality control when they havent done their homework and inturn other people jump on the band wagon and start rubbishing the brand... Thats how bad brand perception starts, I'm here to make sure that people have the right information. Thats all. Youre correct in saying that there was an issue with delamination of the 595 series, however - that was the earliest release of the 595's and since then Federal have redesigned the tyre with better tread compounds and casings to help improve the tyres heat resistence. However - the 595RS and RS-R have always proved to be very reliable on and off the track, I have only ever once seen a delamination on an RS and that was because the tyre was damaged due to hitting the sharp upper edge of a ripple strip at high speed. Youre welcome to use whatever tyres you like, but you have to realise that there are also other people who like using brands that you dont.
  16. Who do you think you are, Michael Schummacher?? - Seriously who talks like that?
  17. HUH? - My car didnt break at Texi, it broke at Wakefield...
  18. That looks AWESOME!! - We might finally have a Gran Prix standard circuit in NSW by the looks of that... I cant wait!
  19. Here's my contribution... I can do the same with any model of Skyline, I just liked the look of this one. P.S. I had to save this as a JPEG to post it, the original is much higher quality.
  20. At least I had a go... Where were you when I took part in the last 2 Texikhana events?
  21. I know I say this all the time but ... For a street/track tyre for the right price you cant go past the Federal 595RS-R - Street legal semi slick with 140 treadwear rating (which is lower than Falken and Bridgestone alternatives)... I use them as a daily driven tyre and can easily get up to 20 - 25,000kms from a set looking after them.
  22. My car is going to be out of action for a while , but I might tag along with Luke or Mark...
