  1. Dont laugh this is serious... If you are having trouble getting "traction" on your standard pedals go to Bunnings and buy yourself some really coarse sand paper (at least 40 grit) cut it to the shape of your pedals and stick it on with some seriously sticky glue. The change of grip is certainly noticable! - Cheap easy and effective, great mod
  2. How come you guys didnt come say hi at the Federal tent? Its looking really good for tomorrow (Sunday) with some really tight qualifying results, there should be some great battles tomorrow! Remeber to come and say hi at the Federal tent in the pits when youre there
  3. Sweet photo, gotta love the R31 Coupes!
  4. You'll have to tell him what car you were in James
  5. Sign me up, I'll have to wait until pay day (next Thursday) to transfer the cash though, I hope thats ok.
  6. Excellent, how much is the CD again?
  7. Go with stock, you wont get any better unless you spend big bucks on replacement Sparco, Recaro pedals...
  8. This weekend Eastern Creek Raceway will hold the fourth round of the Drift Australia series. I will be there all weekend with the Federal Tyres crew, we will have a big tent and display with give aways and goodies for sale, I hope that there will be plenty of SAU'ers coming to watch the action! Make sure that you come to the Federal tent say G'day, have a close look at Nathan Weissel's awesome Federal Tyres R32 Skyline drift car and I'll shout you some freebies! Hope to see many of you there! Cheers Mick
  9. Why would you want to replace Skyline pedals? The standard ones are in the perfect position and are excellent for heal toe shifting...
  10. You seem to have forgotten about what tyres you were using Luke...
  11. Im very tempted to buy one of the photo CD's but Im not going to if there arent any pictures of my car on it... Any teaser pics of my R32 available Andrew?
  12. Great photos Andrew, did you happen to take one of my R32 Gtst? (Blue stripe on the side)...
  13. The Federal 595 EVO is not a cheaper version of the 595 and is in some ways superior to the 595. The 595 EVO was made to be an ultra high performance tyre for the "tuner" market. The EVO has similar tread ratings and has proven to give just as good (if not better) performance than the 595. Attached is a photo of the 595 and 595EVO.
  14. I hope that the following helps with your questions regarding compounds and treadwear ratings... The Federal 595 is available in 3 different speed ratings - H (210kmh), V (240kmh) and Z (300+kmh), these ratings represent the maximum speed that the tyre is able to do when at maximum load carrying capability. It is also available in two different treadwear ratings - 240 and 260. When you read the sidewall of a tyre that is rated as "Z" speed rating it will look like this - eg. 265/35ZR18. This simply explains the size of the tyre aswell as the speed rating. "ZR" only means that the tyre has a speed rating of over 300kmh ("Z") and that it is a radial tyre ("R"). The speed rating on a tyre does not tell the user anything about the compound used in the tyre construction, all tyre tread compound recipes are closely guarded by each manufacturer because if they were to release this information it would be like KFC advertising their 11 secret herbs and spices. The different ratings that you are referring to are treadwear ratings such as 240 or 260, this is a rating that is only tested and used for the USA market and it is called UTQG (uniform tyre quality grading), it is an independant test that is performed by an American company who supplies these ratings to the US department of transport (DOT). The 240 simply means that the tyre in question was tested against the control tyre which always has a treadwear rating of 100, so the tested tyre lasted 1.4 times longer than the control tyre. Yes compounds are different from tyre to tyre and yes a V rated compound would be different to a Z or H rated compound but the UTQG ratings like treadwear, traction and temperature are only a guide, there is almost no way to determine exactly what is in the tread compound of a tyre unless you have inside information from the manufacturer.
  15. Surely there are more pictures? Anyone?
  16. Ok, sorry for the late reply, I have been away for 2 weeks. Im going to have to read through all these posts thoroughly so I can help out.
  17. Anyone manage to snap the little silver R32 Gtst with blue Nismo stripes (even though I only managed 3 sessions before it all went pear shaped)...?
  18. He had over heating issues all day and eventually ended up with a blown motor. But he has an RB30 twin cam waiting to go in it so he didnt really care about the old RB20 giving up.
  19. Garrett GT30/71R, Im going to get it re-built because I love the response I get out of it... In the early sessions I could put my foot flat in third out of turn ten and I would have 18psi in the manifold almost instantly, great for getting a really quick corner exit. Im not sure where the Im going to get the cash from though
  20. Thanks heaps to all who organised and helped out to make this event happen - what a great day. Although it didnt really end well for me with a damaged turbo, clutch and water pump (see attached pics) I had an awesome time out there. I want to see more pics though...
  21. Thanks for that Pat, Its not a light switch problem. Im running the sound from the LCD to my stereo amp witch is 2 channel only, its an older HI-FI set up with all individual units (amp, graphic equaliser, cd player etc are all separate) and the setting on the playstation is for 2 channel linear 48khz which was the auto set when I set up the sound options... I'll have another look at all the cables and see if they arent kinked or not connected properly but Im pretty sure that they're all fine.
  22. I will definitely be in on this, asuming that my car will be ready in time (still in bits)... I want to take Michele and Luke on and see who is "all show and no go"
  23. I have my PS3 running directly into my HD LCD screen via HDMI and the 1080P picture absolutely awesome, Ive never seen such a clear image. I have 2 questions for anyone who considers themselves a bit of a PS3 expert: 1. When I watch DVD's on my PS3, every half hour or so the sound drops out completely for about 1 or 2 seconds, why would this happen? (I have checked all the sound settings and they're all correct and all cables are properly plugged in). It doesnt do it during game play though. 2. What is an "upscaler" and why would you use it?
  24. Choosing the right tyre can be confusing, depending on what size you are after $250 sounds about right for something like the Federal 595's - excellent dry traction tyre, not to bad in the wet and should last you a fair while. Toyo's are a great tyre too but they tend to be quite expensive, Im pretty sure that T1R's are almost double the price of the Federals in most sizes. I use the 595's for street and the 595RS for track on my R32 gtst and I love them, my car has 240rwkw and over 500nm of torque. I know Im bias but - go the Federals, they're better "bang for your buck". Just my opinion
  25. Goodyear what? If youre comparing the 595RS-R to the Goodyear Eagle F1 then youre making the wrong comparison... Eagle F1 = Street tyre, comparable to the regular 595, not the 595RS-R which is a street legal semi slick track tyre. If you compare the 595RS-R to something like a Falken RT-615 or a Toyo R888 you will notice that it isnt expensive at all.
