Ive also seen that R33, I dont like the bonnet scoop much but the rest of the kit + wheels look really good... Each to their own aswell, some people might think that white R33 Gtst's with Abflug kits look horrible ... Thats why we're all individuals.

Well put Loz, I have been a member of SAU for a few years and I occasionaly have a look at NS.com (probably weekly) but I am not a member. The forums on NS.com are excellent and I think that the idea of putting together a link for enthusiasts of almost every different import brand is a brilliant idea especially when there is such a huge amount of traffic going to your site every day. Im going to sign up and have a look around, but I have to admit that SAU is my first and foremost club and always will be.

Hi all, I just received an e-mail from the Autosalon organiser Alisa Lan, telling me that there is a new enthusiast network of websites called the "Hardtuned network"... I was wondering what it was about so I had a look - http://www.skyline-gt.com/ Looks good. Just thought that I would share... (Mods - If it is inapropriate posting here about another Skyline based web forum, please delete).

I think its because R31's have a pretty simple locking mechanism, they're really easy to break into with a coat hanger unles they have central locking installed. I remember breaking into my old one many times

Do you mean, freight from Canberra to Vic?

The reason I didnt go for the GT3082R was because it was about $400 more expensive and I dont think youre able to use the standard air flow meter or inlet pipe (from the air filter to the turbo intake) because the extra suction sucks it closed, and the extra air mass is to much for the standard air flow meter (I could be wrong about this) so you will need an aftermarket pipe and probably a Z32 300zx AFM. Results from different engines will always vary quite a bit, you might make more power from a 3071R than me for some reason, you dont know until you have done it. Dont get me wrong, the GT3071R is a great turbo, just dont expect 300rwkw +

Hey Stevo, Thats funny, I have a GT3071R on mine... Although I bought my kit for $1900.00, so the price on that link is CHEAP! Great turbo for response and mid range power and torque... But even though it says that it is a 550hp turbo, dont expect to get more than 240 - 250rwkw using one of these as the rear housing is actually quite small (which gives you the response). Im running 18psi at the manifold - about 20 at the turbo and mine makes 236rwkw, but the torque is the best thing about my set up as it makes over 550nm at 4,500 - 5,000 which is a great feeling and more than enough to pin you into your seat (and smoke tyres ). Note: My car uses an A'Pexi Power FC, Front mount intercooler, big exhaust, Splitfire ignition coils, 550cc injectors, Bosch 040 fuel pump etc. you wont make as much power without extra mods if you bolt an aftermarket turbo. I would only advise getting the 3071R if you are looking for a really quick and responsive turbo that will give great mid range and reasonable top end. If you want heaps of power I would reccomend looking at a GT3082R or something high mount, like a 3037R. Here's a pic of my dyno tune (the car has made more power since) - have a look at the curve, there is almost no lag and the mid range is excellent.

I know what ended up costing more to fix...

Understanding Tyre Dimensions
Bullet32 replied to Wogan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well researched, youre mostly right but the sums that you have done will not help you when you are changing brands of tyres as no one size is the same from brand to brand. I work for Federal Tyres and it is my job to advise people of the right fitment for their vehicle. Tyre sizes and overall diameters are only relevant within each brand and even then they are not an exact science. For example - A 235 / 45 R17 in one brand might measure 643mm whereas in a competing brand the measurement may be between 645 - 650mm. There are to many variables between manufacturers to be able to guarantee that you are getting the same overall diameter as your last set. You might have to have a look at your maths again though because a 235 / 40 R18 is a lot bigger than 327mm - your looking at about 645mm for that size. -
Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
Bullet32 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheaper doesn’t always mean better. Federal use the latest compounds and all the latest tech goes into the premium brand first. Hero Tyres are made in China and may catch the Federal brand in time. For now the Federal is still the brand of Champions… -
Nope not James, his is Manual and has a 3" mandrel exhaust with a 5" tip.
-
Thats what happens sometimes when you drive your car the way a Skyline is meant to be driven... Not that you would know. ZING!
-
Yes youre right, I did point mine at a sign post (and the sign post lost) but I only cracked the radiator and got a flat tyre... Someone else I know, smashed in the rear quarter panel, bent the boot lid, destroyed the rear bumper and deflated his ego all in the one hit. By the way didnt you lose it in the wet once and drive over a tree stump?
-
Sounds like James (DriftGTS) except his doesnt have Simmons wheels... Did it have a different shade of red rear quater panel?
-
I suppose thats why you have bought 4 sets from me?
-
Unless he hits another sign post... ZING!

I use a 14" thermo with the standard shroud, its controlled by an electronic thermo switch that reads from the standard sensor in the thermostat housing... Ive never had over heating issues since I started using this set up, I have the switch set to 84 degrees and even on a hot day it doesnt go over 91 maximum. The best thing about removing the engine fan is the increase in engine response, by taking off the standard fan you reduce parasitic drag on the engine by quite a lot which makes it much easier to rev.

lol Sounds like you had fun... Youre right though, the sidewalls in the 595's are strong, Im glad you got it sorted though. Im sure that you'll love the amount of grip they'll give you. If you get your guards rolled you shouldnt have any issues running 265/35R18's on an R33 (depending on wheel offset). Post some piccies of the new bling when you get some
