  1. So what happened to people being happy to donate some cash to our devoted camera man? I need to know the best way to pool the cash together... C'mon people even a couple of bucks will do.
  2. Hey yaf28f - I just read what it says under your avatar... If you want to change your user name send Shell a PM asking if she can change it and the user name that you want to change it to and she'll do it for you.
  3. Ive got TEIN Coilovers and they are silent, but mine are the ones that are re-designed by Fulcrum to better suit Aus roads. Are yours imported? If they are they're probably not very well suited to Australian roads and they will be extremely stiff, a friend of mine put Jap spec TEIN's in his R33 and it was so stiff that you needed a kidney belt to ride in it and they were also very clunky, it sounded as if they were loose but we checked every bolt and they were all fine, I think it has something to do with the internals of the shock- when they get older they start to get very noisey, so he took them out. However Ive had mine for about 12 months now and they are as quiet as they were when they were new.
  4. Thats a good idea if there isnt an attendant there to tell you to leave for using your own washing materials. Do it late at night on Friday or Saturday night around 10 - 11pm and you should be sweet.
  5. Dont use the brush because (as TeeJay1600 said) there is almost always foreign crap like stones, sand, tar or mud in the bristles which as much as you spray the brush will still be there when you wash with it. Even though they say that the brush wont hurt your paint, I have seen the evidence and can say that it is just as bad as using an automated car wash. The so called "Hot wax" is just hot water mixed with some sort of waxy slime that dries onto your car and leaves streaks that dont polish out, the only way to get them out is to have the car machine buffed, I had to do this to a mates Skyline after he used the hot wax and it took 3 hours to buff the streaks out. If you love your car, rinse it with the pre-wash rinse and then the high pressure rinse and THATS IT! Take a good chamois with you and chamois it (if there isnt still crap on the paint) and then when you get home give it a good polish or hit it with some Meguires cleaner clay to get rid of any tar spots or dead bug marks.
  6. Get rid of the RB20 and transplant an RB25 inplace along with the R33 gearbox... Thats where the fun is But if you dont want to do that (or dont know how) then go for some good tyres first, like Jayce said its not good having power if you cant get it to the ground, then put some decent brake pads in it and fluid aswell... And if the suspension isnt to good replace it too, there are some great kits that you can get through these forums, just have a look in the group buy and for sale sections. As for rubber, either Frink or I can help you out there... GO Federal Tyres! To get some more go, do the intercooler, pod filter and exhaust and have the ecu re-flashed and you'll be happy as a pig in sh!t... Check out Just Jap for intercooler and exhaust kits, they're good quality and inexpensive bolt on kits that you can install yourself. Oh and Welcome to the club
  7. Quicker than me? We'll see mate.... You + me + our cars + Wakefield park... ITS ON!!
  8. Im happy to take you for a ride in mine at the dyno day... Ive got a GT30 / 71R which is very similar to a GT28 / 35R power and efficiency wise, very linear power with heaps of mid range torque, but Ive got a few more mods than just a turbo. But like I said youre welcome to a ride if you want.
  9. Will do.
  10. I like the outline drawing of the R32... I had a bit of a play...
  11. OH! Low blow.... You just dont go there girlfriend!
  12. I had a similar issue, its most likely your coilpacks... However it could be a dead crank angle sensor too, mine started missing randomly for a while, I put a set of Splitfire coil packs in it and it did nothing, I tried a mates CAS in it and the miss went away so I replaced it and it was fine.
  13. Why post that here? If the car is in Adelaide and people are having trouble selling R33's here in Canberra do you really think that youre going to get a bite from here? This should be moved to the for sale thread.
  14. At least my car has the balls to require a dyno tune every now and then Luke...
  15. I was a detailer for almost 3 years a while back and I would NEVER use a waterless wash on any car... That said, it does depend on what colour car is too, if your car is Silver, White or Light grey you can get away with more because those colours dont show up scratches as much but black, blue, red or alot of other darker colours WILL scratch a lot easier using a waterless wash. I say, go to car lovers RINSE your car with the sprayer (dont use the brush or the so called "hot wax") then drive the long way home to air dry it and use a nice soft chamois and polish cloth to finish it off.
  16. Well I must say a HUGE thanks guys. You have all helped settle my confusion, Im not unhappy with the way the car drives at all, I was just haoping for a higher peak power figure. Dale FZ1 - Thanks for the helpful info and advice, I can say that the car is pretty quick, has heaps of pull anywhere in the rev range, its very smooth, not laggy at all and lots of fun to drive so Im definately not unhappy with its performance, everyone who has been in it has said that it is pretty impressive. the_mafia - Thanks very much for your knowledge and info also, I think Im now leaning very much towards the fact that Ive got the maximum from the turbo Ive got rather than something "wrong" with the engine. I will check the back half of the exhaust by dropping it off and doing another dyno run though. Cheers heaps everyone, I hope most of you will be coming to Texikhana on the 16th so I can say hi and shout you all a beer if we go out. P.S. I hope its not valve float Shawn... I dont have that kind of cash to fix it
  17. I think you might be right... I bought it as a straight bolt on for RB25 from GCG. Perhaps I had expectations that were to big for that turbo?
  18. I couldnt really make out the numbers but I got some pics of the plate on the turbo. Can anyone make sense of these?
  19. RB - ajsx.... Ive got a custom RB25DET plenum that Im not using if your interested... Its a cut and shut from standard job but its really neatly done and works well, especially with a programmable ECU, the car it came off made 330kw at the wheels. If your interested I can get some pics of it and post them up.
  20. Ok I'll have a look for the number on the turbo if it helps... Here are the dyno sheets that I got: The first one was a comparison between the first an second runs, the second is the final run when we got the most torque and the best curve but the peak power is less. I dont have the ignition map though unfortunately.
  21. We were running out of ignition timing towards th end, it was starting to ping the more he advanced it, so he brought it back. Ive been told that an exhaust cam gear is a good idea but surely thats not the answer, Ive seen RB25DET's with less mods make more power than mine.
  22. Id like to get that done but that means a lot more cash... Thanks though Shawn.
  23. No its a 3.5inch Metal cat apparently flows over 850cfm and its pretty clean, not clogged. Knocks were under 20, so basically nothing.
  24. Did the head? Did what to the head?
