  1. also there is often a kind of paint, painted on the engine mount bolts (usually white) and if its broken then they've unbolted the engine from its mounts for some reason. you'll see that paint all over you car.
  2. RB = straight six family 25 = 2.5 litre D = double over head cams E = EFI - in this case ECCS (Electronic Combustion Control System)
  3. yeah this is gonna suck - theres some info on it at prestigemotorsport - apparently it does not affect personnal importing (you live overseas with car for one year then bring it back), and the 15 year rule still applies
  4. do R33's have knock sensors? - if so then why do the standard cars among you ping? even slightly boosted cars should be kept in check with the knock sensor retarding the timiing right?
  5. yep - i saw ryans designs - i think they look great! - should use them! - and if hes already got them in the right format then would it only be a matter of changing the skin on the forum or something? - surely the part that take the most time is the actual construction that ryans already done?
  6. ii dont think its revenue raising as much as its politics - whoever thought this bullshit up is out to please the old people out there who make 'bringing young hooligan whippersnappers to justice!' their own personal vendetta. Plus its also another threat cops have to use against people, no doubt not only will you hear 'you wanna go away or do you want me to defect your car?' but also 'i heard your stereo going mate, and that exhaust 'looks' loud, either move away from here or i'll fine you for it' my theory that the cops dont want anyone under 40 drivin on the roads after 8:30 PM is holding out pretty well i think, but as matboy says - would they rather us spend money doing up our cars or would they rather we purchase guns and drugs?
  7. i agree with OZ - there should be a set limit. there has to be a line that sez 'this is legal, this is not legal', not this 'at the cops descretion' crap - that is FAR too open to abuse, and we all know the police WILL abuse it, just as they now abuse defect laws, only this will more than likely be much much worse. Why not just leave cops to 'interpret' when they THINK you are speeding? the fine and loss of points is the same, its a joke! as for stereos - sure excessively loud stereos can be annoying just as excessively loud exhausts can be. But you can play your home stereo as loud as you want up until 10:45 at night..... but in your car thats not the case, even though its not likely to be in one spot long enough to annoy anyone... nope sorry - 2 points and a fine thanks.
  8. my names bruce, my friends call me bruce, but you may not. that is all
  9. Razor [b:52d3cd876e]"You guys do not pay our bills, or attend our functions. Our club members do and honestly they dictate how the club is run"[/b:52d3cd876e] but what does that have to do with the forums? - as far as i know PH hosts the forums out his own pocket. [b:52d3cd876e]"Technical information? Hey mate that was there way before you silly ass showed, and half of what you guys know you learnt from our forums or website so get it right, the other half is a crock"[/b:52d3cd876e] thats a pretty self absorbed comment there dude. and while it may be true to an extent i think your missing ONARUN's point. he was saying that the forums would be missing out on alot of resources and information. theres a limited amount of written down info on these cars and most of the info both in australia and overseas that i have come across is from EXPERIENCE. id imagine the amount of skylines in australia would be approaching or equalling the amount in NZ (esp with new NZ laws) and you dont think we can make a significant contribution? "So get off your high horse and put blame where it belongs on you guys!" us guys? by that you mean australians? well i have to say that MOST of the australians on the forums are useful participants. trouble makers make up very few of us. you seem to think that australia is the problem with SDU which i have to disagree with - i understand that the clubs interests need to be addressed above everything else and i dont think anyone has an issue with that. but it isnt just us australians who start problems in SDU, and more often thhan nt its the NZ's who are actually on their high horse trying t look down oon others dude - i havent met you, i have no problem with you and i understand why you came in here and defended SDU, but why not post a defence as youd expect to be posted in SDU, insult free BDP
  10. reguarding step No.5 - you disconnect the TPS on idle? - this would generate an error on the computer right? - so if you reset the computer afterwards does it erase the TPS setting youve just set?
  11. yeah reguarding the silo - its the dust that would have exploded - sounds really dumb but it happens - apparently a silo in europe took out a good portion of a hillside from a dust explosion. BOOSTMEISTER - reguarding the fuel pump - you say its negatively switched? - so when you ground it permanantly it runs on full speed ALL the time? - im not doubting that it worked for you but i always thought the stalling on idle was most often caused by the motor going temporarily rich on idle - not lean. but yeah youve contributed alot to the forum - good to have you here - your site always has some eye candy on it
  12. boostmeister - your car looks great! - a couple of questions though - with your pod adapter - what material did you use? - stainless steel? and your air flow meter - is it an RB20 unit or the 300ZX item? thanks BDP

  14. if you are talking about the air bypass piping - then your car will not run without it. from what i know - the throttle butterfly should completly seal the intake on idle, it then hands control over to the AAC (auxillary air control) valve to regulate the idle by controlling the amount of air that bypasses the throttle body. So if you disconnect it and block it off, the engine would not get any air on idle and conk out. You could perhaps adjust the butterfly to be slightly open on idle but id imagiee it wouldnt be too happy to run like that. if your only reason for doing it is to make th engine bay look better then i wouldnt bother personally. - the only thing id bother to remove at that end is the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) which pumps exhaust into your intake to warm the car up quicker.
  15. yeah tell them to get you the late model xenon discharge headlights! - but i can see how they would be 1000 bucks each - its new ,its genuine nissan, and whats more they have to import it... not saying its justified but its to be expected from nissan
  16. reguarding getting your work done - that is all work that you can do yourself basically. i mean changing engine oil, gearbox oil. and coolant isnt that hard and brake pads arent either. the only thing they would do during a service that might not be easy for someone terribly mechanically minded would be the timing - but put it this way - the less they have to do - the less you pay for . as for the boost gauge - if you have a pillar pod thingo then that makes installing it a breeze - you say your a bit worried about the EL lighting, well did the guage come with instructions? if so again no hassles - if not then maybe check out apexi's web page for intsructiions. i know i had probs with my HKS turbo timer till i found a wiring diagram off the net which sorted it all out for me . i just find that doing this sort of thing yourself helps you enjoy your car a bit more but if your willing to pay to get someone to do it then thats cool just know its not terribly hard to do
  17. are you sure +7 is 14PSI? my mates pulsar ET has a boost gauge from the factory - its measured in inches of mercury In/Hg is that what the R33 boost gauge has? or is it Kpa ? i know that +5 In/Hg = ~7psi so +7 would be roughly 9psi right? and if it reads Kpa it'd be 0.7 Bar or ~10psi all the nissan standard boost gauges ive seen have been in In/Hg, but granted that is only two cars. the Pulsar ET and the japan only R31 GTS-X
  18. well theres already two threads on the main page reguarding SDU-AU and i didnt really want to start a new one. Still posted up in the Australian section of SDU are the posts that ask for an expression of interest in an australian SDU. So far a pretty poor result - with over 500 views (grnated alot will be the same people checking back..) but only 52 members... now there has got to be more people than that in on of the major states alone. If new zealand, whose entire population is smaller than that of the sydney CBD, can muster up 80 -200 members, then where are all the aussies!! so far we have : NSW/ACT - 21 QLD - 10 VIC - 10 WA - 9 SA - 2 so if anyone who reads this is interested please post your name and state up in the SDU thread in the Australian section, hopefully its just that people have over looked it....
  19. hey minh same name
