That's why i want to compare results with ppl that have the same turbo. On the road it is absolutely great, but during the SAU VIC's motokahna day, the lag was felt. Also on other threads, ppl have mentioned that after adding the VG30 exh. housing, the setup was not much laggier. But all my headwork and VG30 upgrade mods were done at the same time, so i am not sure if the setup should be this laggy.

Thanks David, They're great!

Get your std rb25 turbo hi-flowed, either by ATP (Vic) or GCG (NSW), mine still has the roller-bearing core. The hard part is finding the correct VG30 turbo. It has to come from an early model, single turbo'ed, 300ZX, as this will bolt straight on like factory, but has the larger A/R rating. Your best bet is to ask ATP or GCG to source it for you, as they have better contacts. I bought my hi-flowed rb25 turbo second hand; Paid $900, which included a aftermarket dump/front pipe. This made about 235rwkw, without cams or porting, but due to the small std rb25 exhaust housing and roller-bearing core, it fluttered (compressor surged) at light throttle. I rang ATP and they found the correct VG30 exh housing. I was charged $500 for the housing, machining and fitting. So the whole turbo combo costed me $1400 . I am absolutely stoked with the result, even my mechanic was grinning from ear-to-ear. Best part; Turbo still looks factory!

Recently there have been a couple of threads discussing the adaptation of a VG30 exh. housing to a hi-flowed rb25 turbo. I have completed such an upgrade and would like to compare my results with others. I am more interested in the response of your setup for this type of turbo, but power comparisons (all though limited) are also appreciated. So please copy the fields below, past them in a post and edit as required: (NOTE: Required support mods/systems are assumed to be fitted to the car.) ENGINE: RB25det, R33 S1 - Std. plenum - Tomei Poncams (256 Duration, 8.5mm Lift) - Head "race" ported - Std. exhaust manifold, but has been ported/hi-flowed - IN (VVT still active) and EX cam gears. IN set to 0deg, EX set to -2deg - STANDARD BOTTOM END ECU: Wolf 3D Ver4+ Exhaust: 3" with cat, long "hotdog" and hi-flow muffler. RESULTS: 270rwkw@15psi 270rwkw was acheived quite easily but due to the std. bottom end, boost was reduced, to acheive about 255rwkw, and tunning then continued. Hopefully this set-up will last approx 12 months, then the bottom end will be treated to forgies and this combination's true potential will be explored. With forgies i plan to run about 20psi, experiment with both IN and EX cam gears, and have alot more runs to achieve a better tune.

I am unable to view the link , can someone please e-mail it to me. [email protected] Been told i did pretty badly , but i was having too much fun! And it took me half a day to get used to the new engine setup and it's corresponding lag .

Coupe-This: You have done half a job, get the cut-outs plastic welded, that way it doesn't look like a hack job (no offense intended ) Mook1: Saw your car crossing Toorak Rd, in Toorak, last week (i was in my work ute). Was happy to see Nathan's old car still looking sweet.

R33 Nismo Twin Plate Clutch Replacement
Al replied to operationsideways's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Did he use genuine Nismo parts? -
Happy B'day Andrew! We may be getting older, but we can still keep up with the best of 'em .

Yep, that was me. Will most probably not be going to Summernats '06, as there is another event in Phillip Island, at the same time . But the committee has lightly discussed the idea of holding a National cruise/event in Canberra. Hopefully it will come together and various states will participate.

If you are not a paid SAU VIC member, you would have not heard about this event (or all the other events/cruises we organise ). All 55 places were filled b4 the deadline to release to general forum users. Become an offical member, and be informed

Well what a weekend, I’m still buzzing!! Without doubt the best SAU event to date. First and foremost thanks to ALL the organisers and volunteers, without everyone’s input, the day would have not gone ahead. This is what makes the club so special, THANKS again! Would love to see a few pics If anyone has any pics of my car, I would REALLLLY appreciate the hi-res shots, being sent to my e-mail (in 7mb lots): [email protected] Thanks again, and I can't wait till the next DECA, hopefully in Feb '06!

WARNING: A good porter may not take out the most material from a head, but will know what needs to be taken out and what should not be touched. My port job may be considered by some to be "expensive", but experience is priceless .
-
My head internals were in excellant condition and were not replaced. The only things replaced (not including the valve springs or cams, as they were a seperate expense) were the valve seals (something like that). Clearances were checked and adjusted, as necessary. I got the "race port", there were two other cheaper options but i decided to do the job properly. Be carefull who you trust to do your porting. Even though boost tends to hide a poor port job, the differance between a good head port and a poor one can be huge, especially when you consider off boost driving/response. Abo Bob: Reconsider polishing your head, especially the intake side, i was advised against it by my porter. At the end of the day he could have said; "Yep, no prob., for polish it will cost you $### much extra.....", but instead advised me not to do it. Something to do with the fuel injection.

Dezz you WEAK SAUCE Well any volunteers/spectators living in the Western or Northern suburbs, needing a lift up, my passenger seat is available. Will be leaving Friday and coming back Sunday. Accomodation is easily sorted, at the Motel. Will be a GREAT party weekend as most the fun happens after DECA
-
Hey Shan all entrants, especially officals, need to be at DECA by 8am, i suggest you get the boys up earlier, say 5am departure. Otherwise they will simply miss the first few runs, by the time they are registered, briefed, etc.
-
Happy B'day buddy! Have another b'day to attend, so we'll catch up another day.

itbmils: Don't worry too much about Ash (R31Nismoid) or myself, we're pretty cool and i haven't seen anything that offends. Just two guys discussing different opinions. As previously mentioned, i too beleive that porting and cams should be one of the final performance mods. lwells: The porting and full head service/reco costed about $1700. That included the 24 valve seals at $13ea. Porting was completed by a person that has been porting heads for racing teams, such as V8 Supercars, for many years.
