  1. All are welcome mate! You'll find you wont be alone in either category
  2. MrKotter: That is the most perfect boost curve i have ever seen in my life
  3. I agree with Ash, he definitely has a boost control issue. Could be a weak/soft actuator or a leak, etc. So many variables that can cause a setup to go wrong. If the tuner hasn't built the setup, then it can take days to sort out; as Ash also mentioned. Was your mate willing to pay the tuner/mechanic for eg: 20+hrs labour @ $75/hr, to sort out someone elses mess? Could also be an exhaust flow issue and a whole heap of other possibilities. This is why my mechanic is my tuner and why i purchased an ecu that my mechanic was comfortable tuning. Hope your mate sorts it out quickly and at little expense; good luck PS: If you mate had an upgraded fuel pump and injectors, why buy/change the fpr?
  4. Buddy look at the post dates. Yet another 3yr old thread you dug up
  5. Have you registered this event with the Red Cross? No offense but you have only just joined this forum, how do we know this money will go to the Red Cross? So many low life mo'farkers doing dodgy shit, it ruins it for the honest others..
  6. Going into debt, while still a full time student, is a VERY bad idea. You may have a job this week, but being a part-time/casual employee you are basically dispensable. Also going into debt for a performance car, is also not good. Can you afford full comp insurance ($1500+/yr), regular servicing, replacement parts (should anything break, blow, etc). Without a full time job, do whatever you can to stay debt free!
  7. Wastegate size is determined by turbo size. The smaller the turbo, the bigger the gate; as more exhaust gases need to be bypassed. I still say go for the 45mm gate or above.
  8. YES, Provided you never held a CAMS license before
  9. Accommodation sorted, thanks Bec PS: If anyone (that knows me) wants a lift up there (on Friday) and a lift back (on Saturday), i have room in my car. Live in the western suburbs, so only people round the west/north; unless you want to leave your car at my place.
  10. If he plans to use the car like his avatar then he needs a very strong engine. If you have the money no need to skimp on reliability. I love the gt3076r on my rb30det, it's freaken awesome, power and torque throughout the whole rev range! My only concern about your setup is the 38mm ext gate. You my get boost creep, I would have gone for at least a 45mm gate.
  11. Just emailed my forms and payment receipt, please let me know if you haven't received them. May have also accidentally sent it twice

You definitely have a S1.5, which requires an airbag wheel. My mate removed his airbag globe from his dash when he had to get a roadworthy, as the light was always on, and failed inspection as the airbag light did not come on when the inspector turned the key. Mind you he still had the std airbag wheel fitted, so if you where to fit a non-airbag wheel it would probably pass as the inspector may be non-the-wiser.

    Rwc's And Mods

As far as i am aware most rwc w/shops are not concerned about epa related mods, as their jobs is to ensure the car is safe for the roads. You may have an issue with the exhaust, if it is too loud.
  14. Just had a look at my spare lock. You can't remove the lock out of the badge assembly. You just need to get the locksmith to transfer the barrel across to the replacement badge assembly.
  15. Nope i done it twice because the first time my car was getting resprayed and the second time was when my mate's 33 got badged and i changed it for him. Be careful with relying on the latch as they have failed in the past; but i guess if it does fail, you can go to a locksmith and he can open it and change the lock then.

    I stand corrected
  17. If a mechanic advised you to spend money on an ecu and boost controller, before exhaust and even a better quality air filter (in the airbox), you should go else where; It seems he is just interested in making the most money from you and doesn't care about your interests. Fair enough he may have gotten confused about the power figures etc, but any good mechanic would recommend upgrading the factory exhaust system first.
  18. If the car is idling weirdly and lower than normal the steering will get tighter as the power steering pump isn't being driven fast enough. I have an after market ecu and for a long time the car would almost die as i came to a stop, or would actually stall at the lights, more so at night with the headlights on. Blamed my tune for ages and kept getting the tuner to retune the issue, wasn't getting charged for it. After a while he noticed that the tps voltage would intermittently "bounce around", at idle. Replaced the TPS and all fixed, idle is alot more stable too. Have a look at your tps voltage, while the fault is occuring. See if it is changing by itself, without any throttle input. The sensor could be fine, but the throttle shaft, etc, could be loose/worn, causing false readings. Could also be an ecu issue.
  19. Pretty easy Jay. Ive done it twice, but i can't remember exactly how. I know that you need to remove the boot lid lining and then reach in and pull off a black clip that keeps the lock in place. Not sure if anything else is required. But you may need to take both locks to a lock smith to make the new lock work with your key.

I wouldn't use a S2 wheel as you may not pass roadworthy with it. It has an airbag and the inspector will be looking for the airbag light on the dash, once he turns the key. I have a S1 steering wheel you can borrow, if you need it. I'm in the Western suburbs, PM me if you want to borrow it. Whenever you get defected you need to get a rwc.
  21. Agreed: then remove the bulb from the dash. Do not just remove the bulb, without removing the HICAS first
  22. You wouldn't by any chance have a GReddy plenum for sale?
  23. Hell yeah (work permitting) it was an awesome day, had so much fun!! Just need to remember to check my work calender.
  24. Need to check my work on call calender, but i am 80% in!!
  25. The rough idle is probably due to a damaged AFM, or it's been knocked off the intake pipe. This would make a good base for a N/A to turbo conversion; Engine, box, hubs, brakes, etc. Everything you need is still untouched. GL with the sale
