There is no need to drive half way across Melb period, wether for a basic tune or a full house build up It's the reason I don't recommend EAS to eastside people; good workshops can be found on both sides of town, just silly to waste money, time and fuel driving across town. Having said that, EAS has a a fair few customers come from the east and also country areas, so each to their own.

I think what people are trying to say is that: You sacrificed sooooo much response and usable power for so little power gains. It just doesn't sound right. You mentioned you have a 1100hp set-up, so why is it only making 500hp? I know an rb25 with a to4z making 360rwkw on pump fuel at 20spi or an rb30et with a 1000hp turbo making 420rwkw at 22psi, on pump fuel. I do understand that these turbos really wake up at about 30+psi, especially when using C16, but your figures really sound low. My question is; which set-up do you really prefer to drive? *edit: Damn Daz just got in b4 me *

Driver Dynamics Beginners Drift Day Sandown Saturday 17th January 2009

Would have been better if you kept the good tyres on.The track is going to be wet, so your tyres are going to spin easily anyway. Due to the wet surface you are not going to chew as much rubber as you would in the dry. The car is easier to control with good tyres all round. Having said that i have really good tyres at the front (T1Rs) and ok ones at the back (Hankook), but this is what i had on the car, will be getting T1Rs at the rears soon, before the next SAU cruise . PS: Have not washed my car since Autosalon '08, but last weekend i did give it a spray over at the carwash. The track is going to be wet so all the shit on the track will get your car dirty in no time. -
Iridiums are a waste of money, but would you go as far as saying "I shouldn't have put in iridiums". Nothing wrong with using iridiums, expect the price and the fact they aren't any better than using copper plugs. I ran 13.5psi on my stock turbo for 2.5yrs and sold it without any shaft play, etc. Some die at 10psi others last at 15psi. I know one person that wanted to upgrade turbo, so he boosted it to 16psi and got it tuned, lasted years with that boost/tune, till he pulled it out because he wanted more power.

Regarding competition stickers. Why don't you buy some "paint friendly" vynle, that is somewhat easy to remove, stick the competition stickers on your vynle, then cut around the sticker and stick that to your car. This would make the removal of the stickers easier and will not peel the clear coat off your car. The sponsors of the event really don't give a shit what adhesive they use on their stickers and if it marks/strips the paint on a car. Just an idea to keep the car looking mint, after the event has come and gone.

update: Sway-bar and CUSCO-Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arm have been sold! Alot of interest on other parts but not sold yet. -
Tonight get under your car and take a pic with you digi cam and see how clear the pic is. To be honest i would buy an ADR approved hi-flow cat, like the one you posted, fit it and take the straight pipe with you to epa. Explain what has occurred and that you recently purchased the car with a rwc, issued by the seller's dad and that you were not aware that it had the pipe fitted. As the rwc came from the seller's dad, the comments i posted earlier may not be valid, as a dodgy rwc is more likely to be issued due to family ties with the previous owner. Honesty will most the time get you out of trouble, in this case hopefully the fine. Calling a cop a noob, when the epa officer is looking at a digi pic on his pc, that shows a straight pipe fitted, really wont do you any favours.

Looks great Andrew!! Good luck in Tassie

I have seen some pretty dodgy concealments of a straight through pipe that can be seen a mile away. What side of town are you on? Maybe someone is willing to met up with you and see whether the cops are mistaken, thus putting your mind at ease, or explaining what the cops have seen, thus you know what's going on. As someone else explained; you may have a magnaflow cat fitted, or similar, that looks like a straight through pipe or even a "hotdog" resonator. I am on the West side of town, if that helps.
-
Your response has confused me. Do you have a "cat" and they are assuming that it has been gutted? or There is no actual visual cat in the exhaust system?
-
I've heard the fine can go as high as $10,000. This is the first time i heard of anyone getting done for it though, so $1500 is believable. How old is the roadworthy? Is the straight through pipe a bolt-on unit? If it is bolt on, the person that issued the roadworthy only needs to state that it had a cat at the time of inspection and that the previous owner or yourself has fitted the pipe after the rwc was issued. Unfortunately you wont be able to prove otherwise. If the exhaust is just void of any cat, and has no flanges with a straight pipe, then you MAY have a chance, but the w/shop could still turn around and say the rwc was issued to the car with a std exhaust system fitted. WHEN BUYING A CAR YOU SHOULD ALWAYS PICK WHERE THE CAR IS DONE FOR A RWC. If they refuse they may have something to hide.

3076r On 26/30 Dyno Results And Possible Issues
Al replied to unique1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Manifold is top notch and am very happy, took a little long to receive though. Just told him my specs (rb25 head, rb30 bottom end, GT30r-IW, R33 GTST) and he did the rest. No issues with fitment or clearance, even my mechanic was impressed with quality and price. What ever you do, do not buy his high capacity sumps; completely different scenario. Felt like driving to his w/shop (from Melb) and shoving it up his A$$, complete waste of time and stress, delayed my build by over 3 months. -
You'll probably need double those numbers Ash. As is the usual case, half the people that vote "yes" will most probably back out once it happens and it's time for financial commitment.

Yep... Talked to a TMU officer over NYE and she came across as a bigger hoon than any of us .Didn't really talk about defects, etc, as there was no point; The law is clear and if you break it you risk getting defected.................simple. Police don't make the law, it is up to their discretion to enforce it.............. however silly some laws may be.

As above: The complete block is worth about $100, but then you would need someone to remove the crank, prep, pack and post the crank. I would guess that about $200+prep+postage is a fair price. prep= Making sure the crank is in good condition and is not warped/cracked/scorched/etc. The last thing you would want is to receive a unusable crank. The extra $100 is to pay the person to remove the crank and send it to be tested.

Internal Mods For More Torque From A Rb25
Al replied to The Bogan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Four options (In my preferential order) 1/ RB30 bottom end- I've done it and absolutely loving it 2/ Stroker Kit 3/ Fit a supercharger- Expensive and need to ditch a/c 4/ Increase the compression ratio- Not really advisable on a street car, with a big turbo, as 9:1 is already considered high. If you intend yo run race fuel then no problems.
