Brakes/suspension where from ??
Al replied to YogiR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just received the Hot Bits coil-overs yesterday. When i opened the box they were not assembled, i was like WTF!. I rang up the manager and he stated that i need to use my "top plates" off my std shockers to assemble and mount. Small set-back but easily fixed, apart from that they look great. As i went to the "Motorsport Expo" last weekend, at the old exibition building, i received a discounted price. Picked them up for $1650, Andrew Holdsworth (manager) stated he may offer the same price to other people as well. Just state that Alan (me), with the R33 GTST Skyline, has given you the number and ask if the Expo price applies, he should remember my name as i have rang him a few times . NOTE: I have not felt how good these coil-overs are yet, thus i can not state that i am satisfied with them, but they look the part. Will keep you updated, hopefully by the end of next week, when my car is back on the road. AXT Turbo/Hot Bits PH: 97937740 Contact: Andrew Holdsworth -
CNBLOW: NO. You are thinking of the Shell servo on the Princess Hwy. The Westies meeting point is at the Mobile servo on the Western Ring Road heading towards the city. Once everyone is there, we will take the Princess Hwy exit and head towards Geelong, meeting the others at BP.

Brakes/suspension where from ??
Al replied to YogiR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yogi i have just purchased all the stuff you have mentioned, but have not put them on as yet. If you wait a week (car booked in for the 1/3/04) i will tell ya how i went. This is what i bought: - Whiteline "Handling Pack" - Whiteline "Pineapples/Doughnuts" - "Hot Bits" adjustable coil-overs. Hot Bits is a Victorian manufacturer. I have order the "Street Sport" with duel rate springs and height adjustment. Good part is; if i am not happy with the damper and rebound rates they will re-valve the coil-overs to suit my specifications for free. - DBA 4000 series slotted rotors, all round. Found Race Brakes in Nth Melbourne to be the cheapest (slightly). - Pads i am leaving stock for now as they are less than 50% worn. DBA also recommend bedding the rotors with std pads first then put the performance pads on later. I will probably be fitting ENDLESS pads on, once the stockies are worn. -
NS2500: Thanks for the offer, at the start of the thread, but have managed to find a lift with another SAU member. Nothing like cruising in a Skyline . Hope to see ya there, you wont be too hard to spot in the fairmont . I too will be taking my UHF radio.

Busy week next week! This meeting and also the NDSC Hopefully i could make it to both. Thanks for the advanced warning

If the unit costs $1400 (rounded up), hand controller $200, installation $0 (so easy to install i can't believe any workshop would charge to do this, provided you get it tunned through them) and tunning $300 max. How the hell do you get $2200+. I've had the unit installed and running for the past 18 months with no real issues, just a light retune of ideal mixtures. Do a search and chech the previous threads . The unit works and works well .

Nathan, i totally agree with you buddy. If i spent $$$$$ on anything and it got damaged by some f@rkwit that couldn't park, i too would accept nothing less than the same quality product, and there isn't alot that match the R&D of a TRUST ic. I was refering to Rob's sarcastic remark . I know he was only f@rking around. But truck cores are not all that bad.
-
F@rk! Got home from geelong at 8pm so i couldn't have made it anyway Need a couple of days notice, as i can not log-in during work hours , maybe a sms for such occations

This will be my third with SAU, but i am breaking tradition for this one. I am not driving, due to a slipping clutch .
-
First like to say that i agree with ya 100% in fighting for the Trust cooler, as you had out-laid all that money for one. But, for those who have not used truck cores doen't knock it till ya have experienced one and found it bad, first hand. My car has been running with a truck core for the last year and a bit, and the inlet temps are always at least a couple of degrees below ambient. Even Sam (Dr. Drift) was surprised how low the inlet temp was (compared to ambient), when i gave him a left home from the last GOR cruise .
-
Great to here you're back on the road, all that's left is for you to attend A cruise.
-
Unfortunately we gotta take the good with the bad .

Great work

KSV: More than welcome buddy! Just think of your car as being more unique, something hard to find when speaking about R33's . I too am a westy, and drive a R33 coupe (when the clutch is not slipping ). On previous cruises we came back home by about 4-5pm. It's a long FUN day with heaps of km, about 450km round trip (if not more). To all: Please PM me if there is a "shot-gun" seat available, closer to the date.
-
R33 also suffer slightly from tramping, but they have 6 bushes.

NO helmet required You only enter in the events you feel comfortable in, but you have access to ALL events with the entry fee. - Circuit: Timed lap of a small track with varoius shicanes (sp?) (tight corners) - Wet & Dry skid pan: Huge, vast space with a course laid out using witches hats. Parts of the course will be wet and other parts will be dry. This is all about handling. - Go-to-whoa: Small straight. The fastest person to finish and stops in the required markings wins. - Burnouts: No explanation required . - Figure 8: A small track in the shape of a figure "8". Great for drifting, but 2 years ago the track was pretty rough. - Club Battles (time based): The times of 3 elected cars, from each club, will be added together at the end of the day and the best times win. The cars will be elected at the begining of the day. - Drifting: Done on the Huge skid pan. Without exageration (sp?) this skid pan is BIG. Roughly the size of a decent Plaza car park (without the obsticles )

Took my car out on the weekend and at 4K, in second gear, the clutch is slipping . Has been booked in for the 01/03/04 . Would REALLY appreciate a lift with someone, i could be the photo-boy , and keep tabs with the 2-way radios. Please PM me, if a "shot-gun" seat is available . Willing to drive the company van to anyones house and leave it there. Thanks Alan

**Gold/Bronze 17" lightweight JAP Rims
Al replied to Zman's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Any idea what the offset is? Had alot of problems finding rims that cleared the R33 calipers, finally found a set of 19's. Would like to use these for track days. What state are you from? -
The "Handling Package" includes: - Thicker front and rear adjustable sway bars with urethane bushes. - Front adjustable caster urethane bushes - Rear adjustable camber urethane bushes Strut bar is optional in this package. Did not purchase as i already had one. Also purchased a set of "Pinapples/Dougnuts". Not too sure exactly how to explain how these work, hopefully someone else can inform you.
