Noisy As Fark Kaaz 2 Way
Al replied to CrankyGTS11's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Toughen up people! If you wanted a quiet diff you should have stuck with a viscous LSD. I have changed the oil in my KAAZ diff twice, both times using KAAZ oil, each time it has quietened down a little. I am due for a third and final oil change, which will be done shortly, using a Castrol oil, which has been recommended by a friend using the same diff. All mechanical diffs will be noisy as you accelerate gently through a corner, if you don't like the feel/noise just push the clutch to eliminate the drive force to the diff. I just don't worry about it. -
If i turn the car off, while i am listening to the radio, my antenna goes down automatically. Don't know why yours stays up
-
What side of town are you from? If you are in the Northern/Western suburbs then my mechanic can change the gauges for you, but they are closed till the 19/01/09.

Great news!! Can you please PM me the Engineer's details? Sounds like he is very reasonable. PS: Sorry for stressing you out in my first post, but this is honestly the first time i heard of an engineer approving the mod with an airbag equipped car, even though the mod does not compromise the structural integrity of the front end.
-
Honestly great to hear mate! Is there any re-enforcement required around the hole, to get the cert?
-
Don't know where you got that info mate. They can send you a letter in the mail stating that you are to take the car to your local police station, for a routine inspection, due to the suspicion that the car is illegally modified. They give you a week to take the car to the police station, otherwise the registration will be canceled. Consider yourself lucky they didn't do that to you.
-
Yes, but at this point of time the police are aiming for and defecting cars with the hole through the engine bay. A reo is also a lot more easy and cheaper to replace than fixing/engineering the hole. Point is that with the return pipe you do not cut any more holes into the car and you use the factory pipes in the engine bay, so it looks more stockish too.
-
I got mine from Battery World, Tullamarine. Near Troy's w/shop The service and advice was pretty good too.
-
Unfortunately he failed to mention (and he knows) that no engineer will touch/certify a car that has an airbag and with a hole through the engine bay for the intercooler pipe. Do a search, the topic has been covered heaps of times. Solution sounds simple but is far from. Good luck; truly hope you prove me wrong.

Agreed. Disconnect the battery Get the tool to remove the security bolts for the airbag Re-secure the counter weight to the steering wheel; either with rubber bands or even cable ties.

Will try and make it as usual

Fs: Al's Performance Parts Grand Sale!
Al replied to Al's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I have been bombarded with "offers" and i hopefully have replied to everyone (if not please PM me again) - I am going to wait till the end of the week before i decide on which offer to take; unless someone agrees asking price+delivery. - Due to the weight of these items and the oversized packaging (CUSCO arms) i am also giving preference to Melb. buyers as most offers are eg: $### delivered to <interstate> - The person purchasing the most items has first preference. - If one of the deals fall through i'll let you know after then. - I will also need a postcode to see how much postage will cost me. Keep the offers coming Cheers Alan -

Yeah mate, Time to put my money in a more important project, a house . I have no intention to sell the car, but i am no longer willing to spend heaps of money on it, which includes expenses from full track days, etc. -

Arms are for camber, providing more traction through the corners Tension rods provide sharper steering response, better turn-in. -
My car has reached a level of performance and handling that i am very happy with. Initially i had plans to track the car, but due to other financial commitments i have decided to keep it off the track, thus i have a few new parts that i haven't bothered fitting to the car and a few second hand parts that i have changed during my modification stages. - All parts located in the Western suburbs of Victoria - All Parts to suit an R33 GTST, unless they are generic fitment. - Willing to post all parts at buyers expense and risk (note: great care will be taken in packaging; most items are in original packaging) - Please contact me via PM or by posting in this thread. - All offers considered, but if you do not wish do be insulted do not insult me with low-ball offers, as i do know how much these parts are worth XTR FMIC - 100mm Bar & Plate Condition: NEW-Unused Dimensions (CORE): 600x300x100(mm) Dimensions (Overall): Top(width): 640mm; Bottom(width): 780mm; Height: 300mm; Depth: 100mm Price: $500 Did a search and could only find the 75mm thick version which sales for $859 so i would say the 100mm would sale for over $1000 in the shops - Link here Do not get this confused with those cheap China fmic's. CUSCO - Adjustable Front Upper Control Arm Condition: New-Unused Price: $375 CUSCO - Adjustable Rear Upper Control Arm Condition: New-Unused Price: $375 Cusco Adjustable Pillow Tension Rods Condition: New-Unused Price: $350 WHITELINE H/Duty Blade Adjustable Front Sway Bar (24mm) Condition: Very Good - Used for 20,000km This was replaced due to the fitment of a High Energy high capacity oil sump Price: $115 NOTE: More parts coming but battery in camera died, so is now recharging. If i am unable to add other parts in this first post i will just start a new thread.

I have used that style of cai in my car for the last 7yrs and never had an issue. With the way things have been going recently such holes/modification are illegal and can be defected. As Bennett stated; "Just luck who you get".

3076r On 26/30 Dyno Results And Possible Issues
Al replied to unique1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Going up a hill is putting a big load on the engine, thus resulting in a faster spool rate. How is it on a flat road? -

3076r On 26/30 Dyno Results And Possible Issues
Al replied to unique1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
An sr20 turbo will have a smaller rear housing, so it may spool a little faster, even though the engine is only a 4cyl. I wouldn't believe anyone that claims they achieved 19psi by 3800rpm, on a mild rb25, using that turbo. -
I am yet to see a sleeper in this thread. A sleeper is car car that looks stock on the outside (ie: NO EXTERNAL/COSMETIC MODIFICATIONS) but fully worked under the skin. So all you guys with your aftermarket cannon exhausts, lowered cars, oversized rims, and fmic's, posting your car as a "sleeper" need to WAKE UP! What the engine bay looks like has nothing to do with it, unless you drive around without a bonnet.

That's what i did with my Pioneer unit. Wired the antenna to the amp trigger wire and then put an override switch, so that i could manually put the antenna up if i am listening to the radio.
