Could be a tune issue, if using an aftermarket ecu. If you started the car straight away, the turbo should be fine.
-
When i had my high flow it came on like a light switch. If i was in 2nd gear (manual), cruising at 40km/h, then stabbed the throttle, ass end would instantly light up and shift left. Also felt laggy for such a small turbo, but made 270rwkw@16psi with Poncams and headporting. Thinking the high flow was a bad turbo combo, purchased 2nd hand, i bought a new HKS GTRS; made 268rwkw@18psi, response was a little better, but still not what people were talking about. After a few months i decide to put my mate's exhaust on my car and the results were instant. The results were so good that the tune jumped to a different load band on the ecu. So the exhaust was the cause of my turbos acting like big hp units (lag, lag, lag, switch, instant power). Even though it flowed up top, for some reason it was restrictive below 3000rpm. I now have a feeling that my so called "performance" cat was mainly to blame, so i'll be doing another comparison, at a later stage. Comparison Below: Blue = New Exhaust system (Apexi) Red = Custom Exhaust (Possibly restrictive due to the CAT)

That's why i booked it 2 months in advance, the day before the Show n' Shine But the car will not be ready in time ANYWAY, BOOKING ALREADY TAKEN BY ANOTHER SAU MEMBER.
-
There should already be a hole under the spare wheel, that has a removable grommet. (R33)

Should be fun! With the luck i'm having recently, my car should be ready before Christmas... 2008

My car will officially not be ready Mav you have a chance this year , But there are alot of new cars in the club this year that look awesome!! On the other hand i have a booking for a level 2 or 3 car detail with FINAL INSPECTION for the 7/12/07 (the Friday before the BBQ), as my car will probably still not have an engine. I am offering this booking to anyone that wants to take my place, otherwise i will simply just call and cancel. The swap will require Damein's (Final Inspection) approval, but i can not see this as a problem. Let me know ASAP, as i do not want to fark Damein around.. My mobile: 0427 076490.

OK i'm going to sound like an a'hole but it must be said. The amount of money/mods on that car is very minimal (if any), also that audio gear does not appear to be a "custom install", so you'll be able to pull it out and transfer it to another car within minutes. It appears to be a clean car, but if you paid too much for it, it doesn't mean it's in the best conditioned R33 in VIC. I have seen ALOT of 33's in my time, ranging from clean to rough and each category have their own ranges in prices. Look hard enough, and you'll find a clean GTST for a reasonable price; time is your friend. Have you thought of the legalities of turboing your car? If a cop pulls you over and knows a bit about imports (there are a few out there) then you're farked, as you'll need to get the mods engineered, which will involve fitting all the factory GTST parts and alot more $$$$$$'s. You also commented: "for the time being... i jst want the extra power and dont want huge amount of power so i think i will stick to the 8-10 Psi if i get it turboed.." So what happens when you want a little more power? You can't increase boost; comp too high. Will you throw all that money away and then get a GTST and start again? Will you do a dodgey and fit a metal head gasket in an attempt to lower compression? At this stage GTS's are holding their value pretty well, due to the new P-plate laws, and GTST's have already come down in price alot. Look at the long term gain and assess your objectives. You want more power now, what about in another year? Allow yourself to upgrade further, rather than being stuck with 8psi max. Also; if you turbo the car and decided to sell it, at a later stage, most people would not even touch an NA car with a turbo slap job. You'll also probably get hassled when try to get a RWC. Just trying to show you other problems that may arise from such a "simple" upgrade.
-
Mainly brakes, GTS only have 2-pot calipers, where GTST have 4-pots; at the front.
-
Clearance on a low mount is not the only problem, you also have to consider accessibility of the bolts/nuts/hoses/etc for installation/fitment. I really wanted a low mount manifold, but once i starting thinking about installation, etc. i decided to go high mount. Most high mount manifolds (if built properly) would have the turbo sitting below the level of the cam covers, so i don't think clearance is an issue; unless you're fitting a 800+hp turbo.

Hey Buddy, Guys name was Berin. Well hopefully we'll meet up at another event. All the best!
-
I hope you have done a search and know what you're getting yourself into Personally i would suggest you sell the NA GTS and buy a factory turboed GTST. Too many differences between to two models; slapping a turbo on the side will not give you the same power and handling

People Who Know About R32 -> Rb25
Al replied to 7k R32 PLEASE!'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Not sure if the figures below are accurate but: (PM R31Nismoid, he's done alot of research on this issue) I believe if you increase the capacity by over 0.1ltrs or increase the power (from factory spec) by over 20% you legally need an engineer's cert. Alot of people get away with it because the person behind the counter has no idea, you simply got someone that was "switched on" and knows how to do their job. I wouldn't be surprised if the person has now marked your registration as requiring a engineer's cert, so don't bother trying at another depot. I would also ring VICroads and inquire about the status of your registration and whether you can still legally drive it (till you get it engineered); you'd hate to get done for driving an unregistered vehicle . Getting an engineer's for the conversion shouldn't be to hard, as Skylines are generally over engineered from factory, but ensure you have std parts, with only one intake mod. The only problem you may have is the extra $$'s you have not accounted for. -

Once again mate; HAPPY B'DAY!
-
Sounds ace. Very well presented and good luck. Hopefully my rb25/30 will be finished and on the road before Christmas. Just something i noticed: You air pod/filter has a reducer cone, then you have a silicon hose attached to increase the size to match the intake pipe. Wouldn't you be better off to remove the pod reducer cone and fabricate another cone to match the pod diameter and the intake pipe. Just thinking you may be causing some minor restrictions with the current set-up.
-
How could that happen, unless the joiner is before the turbo (intake pipe)?

Rb26 Or 30/25 Conversion Into R32 Gtst
Al replied to lilmissr32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you have an rb26, with a t88, reving to 11,000rpm it will cost you at least $50K to make it somewhat reliable, and it will surely make a shit load more than 350rwkw Just pointing out how ridiculous your comment about "not being concerned about a budget......" was. Everyone has a budget, goal, etc. -
PM'ed.... Will your beast be there?

3.5" is considered overkill, bordering on wank factor I'll let you decide what 4" is considered as

Monkey you funky dummy, the Nurburgring and all the countless other extreme tests are hardly regular use.

Rb26 Or 30/25 Conversion Into R32 Gtst
Al replied to lilmissr32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thinking of a $40-$50k engine budget, i would go with option a/rb26 and hang a T88 off the side, that's built to rev to 11,000rpm safely.
