  1. Thanks Buddy!
  2. Went past Paul's today, the brew is coming along nicely. Smells so sweet and juicy, i think it will go down too easily and before you know it, you'll be on your ass pissed off your head .
  3. I was going to be at Sandown and Dandenong, but between Father's Day and being "on-call" i don't think i have a chance to make it .
  4. I know, that is why i am SOOOO disappointed that my car is not ready On a brighter note: My mechanic finally started assembling the bottom end, but still a LLLLLONG way to go.
  5. I bought my turbo through SLIDING PERFORMANCE (Slide; on these forums)
  6. Any dyno graphs? I am using this turbo on my RB30DET build and wouldn't mind comparing it to an rb25det. My engine will have the following parts: GReddy plenum, q45 throttle body, 550cc SARD inj, Tomei Poncams, Extensive Head Porting, Tomei Valve springs, High mount ext manifold (Extreme Turbo Manifolds), Forged internals, GTR race bearings, ATI balancer, etc..... All tuned via a Wolf3D V500 I was hoping for anything between 270-300rwkw; but after reading your post i am looking at about 320-340rwkw@20psi

    Which Workshop?

Depends where the car is located Eastside/southside any of the above, but i wouldn't take it to racv. Yes RACV can spot the obvious (to a trained eye) but will they do a leakdown or compression test? Do they know how a good GTR handles and preforms? Northern/Western suburbs i would take it to EAS Performance; refer to my sig below
  8. Paul i'll pick up my stuff in 2 days
  9. Of course his car will burn less petrol: Do you think it may be because it is not a "performance car", thus is more geared to be a daily commuter, which is labeled as a "Sports car"? There is a huge difference between the two. You need to compare apples with apples. With regards to spending money, you only need to spend as much as you WANT to mod. I have spent a shit load on my car, only because i wanted to. Some of my mates have only done basic mods and have had the car like that for the last 4yrs, the only costs are servicing, etc.
  10. I know, i saw the thread. Can't help it if you bought a previously thrashed lemon. Pays to be patient, do all the right checks and get it at the right price. 7yrs ago, it took me 6 months to find my 33 gtst. I first did the inspection (with a mate), then another mate, who is a mechanic/panel beater/spay painter, drove 1.5hrs to have a look at the car for me, then we took it through it's paces on the test run. The purchase price was $18,500, not bad considering the prices in 2000. After 7yrs the only thing that has failed has been the std bottom end, in March this year. That's after it's been making 270rwkw, has seen numerous track days, drag days, motorkhana days, and countless spirited cruises and dyno runs/tunes. **not including wearable items like: Clutch, brakes, etc** So you think the MR-S (with basic mods) is faster than a 33gtst (with basic mods)?
  11. Agreed a R33 is probably 10yrs older than your MR-S. But if you were to drive the MR-S, like most people drive their Skylines, lets see how long that car lasts, or which one would fail first . I'd like to see you pump 200wkw out of the MR-S, with stock internals, like so many SR20's do, and see how many problems the MR-S will develop . Please don't come on a performance forum and bag the most popular/common model (and there is a reason for this) when you own a "hairdressers car".
  12. Needs a side pic Greg. Those rims are awesome!

    Deca Wrap Up

    You definitely should have Berin
  14. Very nice cage. But my first thought was: That looks like a prick to get in and out of
  15. SO SOON!! I was hoping it would be a little later (like late November), for the slim chance that my car would be ready. Oh well, i guess i'll have to wait till next year
  16. Yeah, but they are hauling almost 2 tonne of body. Still alot of power in my books; nothing to make a name with though.
  17. coming from a guy with a MR-S Are you sure you weren't suppose to put an "a" instead on an "i" in your username; log off buddy, you'll stop embarrassing yourself As i said i wouldn't sell my Gtst for a GTR. That's not to say that, if i had the money and space i wouldn't have both
  18. Oh, i missed the part where you said "rb25/30". With a GT35R this would be nice to drive and will not be laggy, probably equivalent to a GT-RS on a RB25det. A 700hp turbo would definately see 400rwkw, with all the right mods, but once again, clutch, drivabilty, etc will be compromised If you plan to sell/upgrade don't spend this much money, as you are honestly looking at $25,000+ to go from a std rb25neo, to a 400rwkw rb30det. Factor in: cams, plenum, manifold, forgies, machining, bearing, fabrication, labour, etc..........
  19. I may be wrong, but sounds like a GT35, as GT40's i think are 700hp. My thoughts: 400rwkw on a rwd Skyline: Useless and probably annoying. Have you seen the green 33 gtst "GHOST" at the Autosalon or in HPI. Great car, making 485rwkw, but it's a bitch to drive (owner hates the clutch), the car blew it's gearbox after Autosalon and the owner still hasn't bothered to fix it, which tells me he may have already had enough. I took him for a drive in my car (with the GTRS fitted) and he spun out. I was barely making 270rwkw, but he loved the acceleration and mid range torque. His car would take ages to spool up (4800 or 5200rpm) then when it did he had to change gears, even at the street tuned 360rwkw. I honestly think you'll eventually hate driving the car, because the majority of the time you're city driving and you'll not hit boost. Then there is the cops, epa, breakages, fuel, insurance, ect. My GT30R is being bolted to a fully built rb30det, with cams, plenum, manifold, etc. Car is a weekend driver (if that), as i have a company car. The combination should see me have 20psi by about 3200rpm and making fat power to the 8000rpm redline. This combo will be more responsive than my current HKS GT-RS turbo on my rb25det, hell i think it will be more responsive than a std hi-flow turbo . Before you ask....... YES it is alot of money, but i have already had the car for 7yrs, and have no ambition to get rid of it or to get a GTR. I love how my car handles and love how the ass end flicks out when i want it to.
  20. Not really. By the time you spool up, regain traction, then start to catch up, he'll be almost at the finish line. Some basic mods could see the GTR doing high 11's / flat 12's, on street legal tyres, with the std turbos. Try to do that with any rwd Skyline. It can be done but is not at easy and cheap as you may think.
  21. I could think of about more than ten 300+rwkw, non have a "name for themselves" Reading you last few post sounds like you have no idea what a 300+rwkw car is . Even though the number is a great thing to pluck out of the air, there is more than just a turbo that is required to make and support the power. Then there are the compromises that come with big power cars, ie: bittier clutch, LAG, drivability, etc. Are you sure the GT30 is a 600hp turbo? My GT30R is rated at 500hp, which may see me at just over 300rwkw@20psi, once the motor is finished and tuned.
  22. That is pure GOLD!! 350+rwkw cars are not rare and can be found very easily. So if you think this power figure will be something special "to make a name out of it" you're deluding yourself. If you have any future plans/thoughts to sell this car and move on to a GTR or something else, don't waste your money on power gains. If you plan to keep it for a LONG time then by all means............. But as you have already posted this thread, this means you are having thoughts on getting a GTR, so don't waste your money.
  23. "Gate" refers to the sound made as the wastegate opens to control boost at the desired boost level. The unwanted exhaust gases are dumped into atmo., effectively making the car sound like it has no exhaust system.

    Deca Wrap Up

Yet another GREAT DECA weekend!! Had a ball. Thanks to all that joined Ryan, David, Evan and I celebrate our b'days over the weekend. The event was another successful day. I took alot of photos of the first group, in the morning, on the skid pan, but was happy to help run the pan for the rest of the day, so the camera was put away. Big thanks to Paul for driving me there and back; especially when i fell asleep for at least 1hr45min on the way back home. Photos to come when i could be bothered uploading them
