Item: VH45 4.5L Nissan V8 Age: bought 3 months ago Condition:Excellent Price:$3000 or swap for SR/RB package To Fit: Nissan S13/R32 crossmember Location: Canberra Contact: Tai Comments: This engine has been modified to bolt straight into an S13 crossmember which is also the same as the R32 and cefiro. I have done a few modifications to this motor so that it will bolt straight in. I.E custom mounts for starter motor so that it clears the steering shaft, Custom mounts for alternator so that is sits higher and doesn't hit the chassis rails or chassis braces, custom engine mounts. I bought this motor from SSS Automotive about 3 months ago and its still got 4months warranty still on it. The motor is in excellent condition and the only reason why i'm selling it is because i don't have time to finish the project. I have fitted it to my girlfriends S13 and just don't have time to finish it off. all that is left to do is wire it up, get a custom tailshaft, radiator/hoses, thermofan and build an exhaust for it, make a custom bonnet bulge. I just want to swap with an RB or even an SR that i can just bolt it in, buy a bolt on exhaust that only will need minor mods to fit and drive the car.. The engine comes with the auto gearbox, modified crossmember (if you want it), auto computer, engine computer, wiring loom. So $3000 + freight or swap for an SR/RB engine package.

what is the wiring that goes to teh knock sensor supposed to look like? reason i ask is because it seems to be 2 wires that have a single shielded wire that goes to the knock sensor and then an earthed wire that is wraped around that shielded single wire that goes to nothing. its just an earth wire that goes to teh computer... should it go to teh knock sensor too? both wires are the same.

i've put an rb25det into a 180sx and everything is wired up and working. the loom seememd to have a few extra plugs on it that a normal r33 doesn't seem to have and i have no idea what the computer came from, but it all seemed to bolt up with only minor modifications that an auto electrician did. now the problem i'm having is that i can't set the timing correctly. with a timing light set up on the motor and the crank angle sensor retarded as much as possible it still reads +20 degrees timing and the car wont run. to get it to run i have to advance the timing as much as possible on teh CAS which reads way off the dial on the crank so i don't even know what timing it is running. the car runs fine but isn't making any power. its running 14psi and only feels to be making around 150 to 160rwkw. obviously the timing is causing problems. what i want to know is what could be causing the timing to be soo far out. i've checked the belt and timing marks and its all installed correctly, i've checked that the piston is on TDC when the marking on teh crank sais it is and its all perfect. the CAS on the RB25 can only go in one way. the only thing i can think of is that its an automatic computer running the manual and its cuasing problems somewhere, or the only other thing i can think of is that i don't have one of the knock sensors hooked up (the front one is hooked up but the back one isn't).

ok i have this gearbox for sale. from what i know i'm pretty sure it will bolt straigth onto an RB motor or 300zx motor. this is one of nissan's strongest gearbox's. much stronger than teh rb25 box, it is very similar to teh 300zx z32 gearbox, this is out of the z31 so it doesn't have the remote shifter setup like the z32, i think the 350z now uses a 6 speed borg warner gearbox which may be stronger. i'm selling it because i actually have 2 of them, so obviously i don't need one of them. i bought this gearbox from SSS automotive and because it was over a month ago they don't want to return it for credit, i'm trying to get them to reconsider. if they do i'll just send it back but you wont get it again at this price. i paid $1000 for teh gearbox. $800 firm + freight. i also have this for sale on ns.com http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=170572

What Turbo's To Use When Twin Turboing A 3.0l
tai_180sx replied to tai_180sx's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i talked to GCG today and they definately suggested 2 GT3071 turbo's with .63 externally gated turbo's. said they'd be on boost at 3500rpm and will make 450RWKW on 15psi. said they have done this before and know this for a fact. so i think this will be the way to go. anything under 4000rpm is great for lag and can easily make the power i want. what do you guys think about this? -

thanks discopotato been a big help, you obviously know what your talking about...although i don't understand all of it..lol can i just ask one question.. if i go with twin 400HP GT28 style turbo's, what sort of rpm should boost come on and what power would i be able to pull at 20psi?? i realise its not a definate answer, but an educated guess would be fine. -

tai_180sx replied to tai_180sx's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i spose the biggest problem is that i'd prefer to got a bit bigger than a bit smaller if you get what i mean. i don't mide driving cars with big arse turbo's. as long as i don't get lag between gear changes thats all i want. the more power the better, but it's already at the point where i'll have no traction on teh street anyway...lol -
What Turbo's To Use When Twin Turboing A 3.0l
tai_180sx replied to tai_180sx's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i'd like to stick to the garret range of ball bearing turbo's if i can... so the only problem i am seeing is if i go internal or externally wastegated. ok so say i go for two GT2860R turbo's which garret say are good replacement turbo's for the GTR and they are rated at 400HP each. that should mean i would get 800HP worth of air flow, which would make me around 500rwkw at 20 odd psi... right? so this is probably the biggest garret GT28 series turbo before the go into the GT30 range and run the bigger 0.7 front cover. by the way this motor is in an extensively modified 180sx... -
What Turbo's To Use When Twin Turboing A 3.0l
tai_180sx replied to tai_180sx's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
it is not in a 300zx. when i say come on boost at a respectable rpm, i mean anything below 5000rpm. i dont' want lag. i.e no boost on gearchanges. i'm still chucking up the idea of leaving one big single turbo, or twin turbo's... i already have a Garret GT3540 with a .63 exhaust housing which i'm sure will make teh power with 2 of them, but can anyone tell me when boost might hit? if you guy's can say what hp rating the turbo is and when they might hit full boost. thanks guys. -
What Turbo's To Use When Twin Turboing A 3.0l
tai_180sx posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok i have done a search but obviously i can't find anything on this website regarding what i need to know. and this isn't a topic like... what turbo do you think is best. basically i have a VQ30DET motor and i am twin turboing it. i figure the power output would be very similar to an RB26DETT.. basically i want to know what turbo's will work, and come on boost at a respectable rpm and make big power. i'm chasing somewhere aound the 500rwkw mark.. i already have a GT35 garret turbo with a .63 exhaust housing and i was thinking about using 2 of these turbo's but i don't think i will have full boost till after 5,000rpm and when they are rated at about 500HP each turbo then i think it might be a little overkill. so are there any GTR's out there making something around 450 to 500 kw, i'd like to know what turbo's they are using and when they hit boost. the other thing is that the VQ30DET has a rev limit of 6500rpm, i may extend that to 7000rpm but i need to have some useable power. also yes this is a single turbo engine, i am making twin turbo manifolds for it. -
i've been looking into teh VQ30DET motor out of the cima and would like to get as much information on it as possible. as it is a fairly new engine there doesn't seem to be much information out there yet. i'm looking for things like power capabilities on std bottom end, what internals are in the engien, i.e forged crank and rods, rev limit, what sort of modifications can be done to have a more reliable engine, like i've heard the head gaskets are pretty weak, i also don't like the design of the inlet manifold.. are the VG30DETT and VQ30DET internals similar, like can i use VG30DETT forged pistons and a set of cams from a VG30DETT??? basically i'd like to get my hands on as much information as i can, i think this would have to be one of nissan's toughest motors behind teh RB26's... too bad they don't make a manual gearbox to suit the VQ..
