  1. I'm sure if you do a search of the forums a lot of these questions will have been answered before. LSD and coil overs as you mentioned are obvious, but there are a lot of other reasonably cheap enhancements (particularly if you install yourself and buy second hand) that will greatly enhance the cars driftability. Look at upgrading clutch, cooling, seats (the stock R32 GTST seats are useless for any sort of track work, IMO), kill HICAS, strut braces, sway bars, decent wheel and tyre package (if only on the front), etc.
  2. I never really empty the tank, so I dunno about the total range for the tank. The last few tanks I worked out fuel consumption to be 10.5 litres/100km, 11.5 litres/100km and 10.7 litres/100km.
  3. ^^^^ BUG is left hook only, so cannot be registered anyways ^^^^
  4. I think everyone expected it to be explosive in a straight line, but every review I've seen has commented about how unexpectedly brilliant the car is in the bends. I can't wait to drive one myself, but unfortunately I fear the wait may be eternal
  5. Simple, the better driver would win! Oh, and I'm pretty sure that the GTS4 turbo was actually slower than the GTST due to having the same power and more weight, despite the added traction off the line of 4WD.
  6. Of the two, I would say go the R32 turbo over the R33 na. The cost of putting a turbo engine in the non turbo R33 would give less bang for you buck than putting the same money towards mods for the turbo R32. Plus you miss out on features the turbo R33 gets over the non turbo models (such as brakes, maybe LSD etc). Remember though that R33 turbos can be picked up almost as cheaply as R32 turbos if you look around, so don't rule them out completetly! I think the extra low down torque of the RB25 would be more suited to the extra weight of the 4WD system than the RB20 - save the 2 litre motor for the RWD models I reckon. Cheap R33 GTS4 Turbo Example
  7. Even considering the time saved by avoiding the 1-2 shift, you'd need a damn good launch to compensate for the lack of early acceleration (compared to first gear). Although I have heard of other cars acheiving their best acceleration starting in 2nd gear, including a lightly modified EL Falcon which simply toasted the rear tyres in 1st gear
  8. You cannot possibly compare an R32 to the VN Commodore. The VNs revolutionary styling was a design so far ahead of its time that you can only compare it to the most modern vehicle designs of today. Its style is only comparable to the newest and most stylistic concept cars such as... ...the low, sleek and curvaceous Mitsubishi Concept D5, a true modern super car... ...and the swooping retro-modern looks of the Nissan Pivo Concept, which was designed with strong aerodynamic considerations in mind, and high focus on top end performance. It's incredible interior versitility is better than most modern people carriers, and is only beaten by the recent Honda Wonderful Openhearted Wagon concept due to it having a dedicated dog storage compartment, a feature clearly lacking in the VN Commodore and the designers have regretted the omission since its launch in the late 1980's. Honda WOW Dog Storage Compartment The concept cars could never match the VN Commodores incredible performance from its powerhouse V8, which is comparable to modern hyper cars such as the Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg CCR, and the pushrod V6 offered fuel economy in the same league as the Toyota Prius, Honda Insight and Volkswagen Lupo 3L TDi. Please think more carefully before making such comparisons. You don't know who might be offended by your careless comments. So yeah the R32 is clearly bland
  9. Well I clicked on S14a on the survey coz in general I like them more, but I think of those two specifically I like the R33 more, so subract one vote from S14a and add one vote for R33. Yeah, strange that a Skyline forum members would like a Skyline, where as a Silvia forum member would like a Silvia! That is just bizzare!!! Who'd of thunk it?!?!?!?!?!
  10. Stock for Stock S14a wins in looks easily. But that 33 in the pics is hot!
  11. Gotta love the number plates on the silver cressida!
  12. The AU Lexus GS300 and JP Toyota Aristo were both released in 1997, so only the old models can be imported.
  13. Fair comments, it was VERY fast around the track, but at the same time I cannot imagine many people would be willing to pay 235,000 pounds for it when it has "only" 500hp and understated looks, despite Carbon Fibre and quick lap times. Supercar owners like to have the biggest and baddest. A Lambo Murcielago makes far more power and has far more road presence for less cost. If it's track times your after, get an Arial Atom for 30,000 pounds. You could then get a 130,000 pound Ferrari F430 Spyder for posing for crowds, and you'd still have enough change to buy a BMW M5 for every day use (which at over 500hp has more power than both the Ferrari and the Ascari ). Better yet, buy an R32 GTR and a house. Maybe I am being too practical when thinking of these supercars?
  14. This is up at the Kobe auction this weekend. That is pimpin  EDIT: for the record, no sir, I don't like it.
  15. haha yeah that was a bit of a joke  . 1JZ is awesome, better than a Nissan equivalent RB25DET I reckon! But 2JZ beats it in every way . The 2JZGTE is a better engine than the RB26DETT stock for stock i reckon. Modified they are about equal. I'm sure many will disagree but that's just my opinion! And I don't think a lack of manual is too much of a problem in this case. It is a luxury car through and through, and makes no attempts to be a sports car! If you want manual, go and buy a Supra!
  16. The newer shape Toyota Aristo will likely be deemed too similar to the local Lexus GS300, which were sold here new, so compliance is highly unlikely IMO. Whilst you cannot get the Jspec models here, the Australian spec GS300 is available from about $25k for a second hand non-turbo 1997 model, which I think is a good price considering these cars cost nearly $100,000 brand new. Australia never saw the twin turbo unfortunately
  17. If you are worried then don't drive an illegally modified car
  18. I reckon you should give it a run at the drags and find out! If you are too timid to drive it yourself (don't feel bad - that is a serious machine you have on your hands!) I'm sure there are plenty of friendly SAU members that would be willing to donate their time and run your car into the 11's for you
  19. The would not be lack of traction at the rear, but the large speed differential between the rotating rear wheels and stationary front wheels would make the ATTESSA system think there is a lack of traction and redistribute the power accordingly. Does that make any sense?
  20. I emailed Geoff and he said that yes, this one is particularly cheap. Typically the Aristos start at around $13k, which is still a bargain in my mind! You say that like it's a bad thing! Surely advertising cheap cars on the Prestige website should be encouraged not looked down upon I got some additional information: Twin turbo JZS147 2JZ-GTE 3lt 206KW/1680kg IL6 Engine -122kw/tonne. Non turbo JZS147 2JZ-GE 3lt 169kW/1580kg IL6 Engine - 107kw/tonne. 4WD UZS143 1UZ-FE4ltr 191 kW/1740kg V8 Engine -109kw/tonne Sunroof and Leather are uncommon options, and ALL were sold as automatics. The only manuals are aftermarket jobbies.
  21. 100 octane fuel - that's awesome! Finally we get the good stuff! Anyone know how long before it will be available in WA? Not sure there will be enough market here for speedy distrobution . Even now I can only find 98 octane at BP's - no shell, caltex or mobil in my area sell higher than 95.
  22. I think the Ascari is sensational, BUT (and it's a big one), BUT it is waaaaaaaay overpriced. At 500hp, it should be priced to compete with the 490hp Ferrari F430, 500hp Lamborghini Gallardo, and 450hp Porsche 911 Turbo in the 90,000-110,000 pound bracket. Instead it comes in at 235,000 pounds! More than a Murcielago! That is over double what I would expect to pay for it.
  23. Hey all, I was cruising throught the Prestige Motorsport stock and came up with thisToyota Aristo. They run a twin turbo six, but not the wimpy 1JZ like the chaser - they get the full 2JZGTE treatment! *Insert Fast n Furious quotes about engine here* Compliance is still about 8 months away apparently, but I think 4-Door Skyline and Stagea owners better look out - family man in a hurry has a new weapon! The crazy part is that one on Prestige is for sale for LESS THAN $11,000!!!! Maybe I should upgrade my R32 4-door for one. I was considering the UZZ31 Toyota Soarer and R34 Nissan Skyline Sedan as an upgrade, but I think the Aristo has joined the list! What do people reckon?
  24. Another strong result for the French in this years Top Gear motoring survey! 10 of the bottom 13 cars are french! And it's no suprise to see Toyota and Honda at the pointy end.
  25. I think a great stealth car would be a lancer coupe with neons, spoilers, body kit, rediculous spoilers, oversized rims etc. I always see these and laugh because they are slow as hell, and I'm sure many other skyline owners have had similar experience. Drop a 400hp Evo engine in there. People will see you coming and think you are a try-hard ricer, and that your car is shit and slow. Then you smoke them and they cry . Although making a Lancer coupe fast would cost a small fortune and therefore not qualify as a "cheap" stealth car. Plus just because every motoring enthusiast thinks your car is slow, it won't stop the police attention. Maybe that wasnt a good idea afterall!
