I got my 32 GTS-T with 130kkms for $9000 back in March. Mine lacked the recaros, clutch and quickshift compared to yours, but came with GTR alloys. I really think that price is at least a few thousand high given the current market. It's not worth $15k - you can get a nice R33 gts-t plus change for that.

For anyone that is interested, I ran my R32 GTS-T on the dyno today and it returned 177.6 hp at 6200 rpm. Car is stock other than pod filter & cat back.

Hydrogen Generating Module -> H2n-gen
Big Rizza replied to Zahos's topic in General Automotive Discussion
That is indeed interesting. My initial thought was that it couldn't work because of the energy required to change the water into hydrogen, but if the phenominal gains in burn efficiency claimed are realised then the increased efficiency will more than counter the inefficiency of seperating hydrogen from water. Combine technology like that with the latest in Hybrid and Deisel technology and you could be looking at very substantial fuel savings. I'm going to forward this article to some members of the West Australian transport (truckies etc) industry and see their opinions. -
2.0sec @ 1,000,000 mph

#1: Mine is the other way up - I think yours is upside down #2: Got that too, mines stock so it isnt from an AM BOV...

Probably best looking up some generic drift video compilations or something and hoping for some luck. Not many people make videos dedicated to the GTST.

There is a reasonable difference between the two. For the current 2.0 litre models, the STi gets, amoungth other things: Bigger (laggier) Turbo Power uprated from 168kw to 195kw Torque uprated from 300Nm (@3600rpm) to 343Nm (@4000rpm) Higher Redline (8000rpm vs 7000rpm I think...) Stronger 6 speed manual (vs. WRX 5 speed) Bigger Brakes 5mm Wider wheelbase Front 15mm Wider wheelbase Rear 15mm Longer wheelbase Lower, stiffer suspension Active Centre Differential (like the Lancer Evo) Limited Slip Front Differential Sticky Tyres I also heard that the engine internals are stronger in the STi than the standard WRX, and can take more power, which would make sense given the higher redline. I got this information out of Motor magazine, so don't hold me responsible if it's wrong! Corrections welcome.

Finally the Subaru STi will get the low end torque it has desperately needed for so long.

Asking a Skyline forum whether you should buy a skyline or something else usually ends in the same conclusion - 95% of the time the skyline will be overwhelmingly recommended over the competition. I reckon you should test drive both and get whichever feels right for you. Having said that, GET THE VSPEC!!!
-
There was another "first car" thread not long ago which recommened waiting before getting a skyline, and get an econobox shopping trolley first. I stand by that recommendation. I drove a hyundai for 2 years before getting my skyline, and I think I appreciate the skyline more because of it. And does anyone else reckon the twin cam corollas are overrated? Great first car but some people REALLY love them and reckon they've got a rocket or something. A friend of mine claimed his stocker did 0-100km/h in "about 5 seconds" and that he "beats VLs 'n shit". Dunno why he was so blown away with my stock GTS-T's performance then... But seriously go for an N/A 4cyl to start with, learn to drive, then you can get a skyline and fully enjoy the performance and handling. Plus with the money you save you might be able to get an R32 GTR in a couple of years!

Link for all skyline model specifications: Skyline Specifications I personally like the R32 more than the R33 ( hence why I bought one!)

Some Low Life Peice Of Shit Backed Into My Car
Big Rizza replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Came home today to find out my younger brother's Hyundai got hit in the rear door in a car park while he was at uni. Big dent, no note. Even though the car is a shit heap, it still pisses me off. If they left a note, we may not have even made them pay for it - the car just isnt worth the $$$ to fix it. Instead they have left us all with immense rage... -
Also see http://www.jwhubbers.nl/ for some more information on cars around the Nurburgring. The website also includes a lot of other Nurburgring information based on his own experiences racing through the Green Hell, including a video from the passenger seat of the Ring Taxi driven by Sabine Schmitz here for those of you who are in love with her (it seems many car nuts on the internet do...). Also, I found this television commercial for the R33 Skyline during my search for Nurburgring stuff if anyone is interested. Off topic a bit, but interesting. R33 Skyline TV Ad

The website http://english.auto.vl.ru/ has a very small amount of information here for the original R34 models (1998-2000) and also here for the updated R34 models (2000-2001). I'm not sure what kind of information you are after so this may not be of any use.

I could never do that with my Skyline. The problem is I am brilliant at disassembling things, but when it comes to the reassembling, not so good. My car would be dismatled into components within 15 minutes but it would never again be a car. Good luck to you though! It's definitely a do-able proposition. A mate of mine built himself a Nissan One-Via from parts and that was a pretty awesome car. He stripped out all the sound deadening etc. while he was at it so it was loud as hell but very light. And 270rwhp meant it was damn quick.

Does this count? Coz it's a Cefiro but it certainly is a 4 door!
-
Don't think it's that bad. No worse than 1/2 the other body kitted cars on the road anyway.

if it was a hand held laser gun thingy, you're safe - they have to pull you over with those.

Cant Enjoy A Decent Cruise Anymore

I dont really rate the Paseo, I just said it reminded me of the Sera. I said I wanted a Sera when I was "young and naive." As performance cars, both are seriously lacking. But the Sera's doors are still awesome!

[video] R32 Ute Drifting

You've heard of European styling, but this is the first time any Japanese car has gone for Australian styling!!! (edited for image link) -
I would get something that you otherwise cannot get into the country, something that is so random people will give you confused stares while you drive down the street, something like the VanDeBrink Carver.
-
Haha! Missed your post the first time looking through, but it gave me a GREAT IDEA for a first car!!! Based on a Paseo (I think), it's economical (same 1.5 litre as Paseo), reliable, won't get you into trouble with big power, BUT you have my personal guarentee that it will turn just as many (if not more) heads than any other car in the $7500-$10000 price range. And the car is.... A TOYOTA SERA!!! Most awesome doors ever put onto an economy car!!! I really wanted one of these for my first car when I was young and naive, but they were pretty pricey a few years back. Since then I almost completely forgot about them! Of course, it will be slower than the standard Paseo (not a rocket) because the doors add weight. I did see one with a full 3SGTE engine conversion though!!! Some great pictures from the original japanese brochure here. Worth a look regardless of whether you want to buy the car or not!
-
Cressida is a good idea, grunty performance but highly comfortable. I reckon you could chop a few pre-VS commodores with that, which would no doubt bring a smile to your face! Parts should be easy enough to come by as well, plus you get Toyota reliability and economy. Could probably get some Supra go-fast bits to fit pretty easily, as I beleive both run 7M engines (albiet turbocharged in the Supra). Maybe even a full engine swap? I've seen some big power out of the 7Ms before I wouldn't recommend an N14 Pulsar SSS. They are so hideously overpriced for what they are. Just had a look on Carsales.com.au and they are all over $7500, and go up nearly $14000 with a few bolt ons, and for that money you may as well get the real deal N14 GTiR rather than an SSS pretending to be one. And those prices are private sales, not dealership sales. Many of the stock standard models are more than what I paid for my R32 GTST!!! The SSS have a reputation of greatness due to having the SR20, which seems to push prices up unreasonable amounts IMO. But with nearly 1200kg to cart around, even the fabled SR20 is only good for 0-100km in the 9 second range. Everyone seems to love them though! Am I insane?!?!!?!?!? NOTE: Redbook put the resale value of a 1992 N14 Nissan SSS Pulsar at $3200 - $5100. That is not accurate in my experience, but if you can find one in that price range then I could give it a much stronger recommendation.

Drive Train Losses - Same At Any Power?
Big Rizza replied to PHATR32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
A major source of power loss on a chassis dyno is through the tyres. I'm guessing that if you are putting out more power, there is more heat being generated by the tyres on the rollers. This heat is energy being dissipated, and that energy is not going towards turning the rollers - i.e the energy is lost. Hence the dyno sees less power. By that, it would make sense that a more powerful car not only has greater power loss on a chassis dyno in raw numbers (eg 20kw vs. 30kw loss), but would also experience a greater % loss (eg 20% vs 30%) But I'm no dyno technician. Just someone who got an A in high school physics. So I could be wrong... (etided for spleling)
