Yeah exactly, start small (ish) and see how it goes from there. That way we can suss out any issues that would possibly arise from bringing a larger number of people together in one place. And prob gain an idea of what sort of size venue we would need for it, and what sort of things for entertainment instead of standing around like twats for half a day

Good idea in theory...... Personally I'd like to see just a meet up with NSW/ACT people first to see how that pans out. Like we pick a spot, with some kind of decent size and plan the thing. Big BBQ or something similar.

Argh! That post about the GTR shit me to tears! Everytime I tried to read that post, and don't ask me why I kept trying, I came away with a headache and had to walk away from the PC for 10 mins. I get pretty lazy when it comes to proper punctuation because sometimes it's just quicker to not put it in. But usually thats just in SMS's. But, SMS speak..... well that drives me nuts! Especially when older people do it. Like when your Mum messages you or something. Grrrrrrr. ANd I really don't understand the need for it on a forum, as you have an unlimited amount of space in which to type. And if anyone even tries to say that it takes less time I'll take their SMS speak and stick it fair up their........ :kick:

Holy shit! All you lot live up this way??!?!? I was beginning to think every ****ing 'line owner lived in Sydney! j/k  I own the almost stock 33 you see in the avatar over yonder <----- Bought only a few months ago now, and already cracked the front bar!!! Yay me! I'll come into town on Monday if others are gunna be around. Love to meet some of you guys. Faces to names etc etc..... And Dave, where are you getting the FMIC installed at? What sorta price?
-
How big a chunk are we talking Dave? and where abouts on your bar? Cause fibergalssing isn;t that hard, and you can get repair kits that are fairly inexpensive. I've cracked my 400R bar and I'm gunna fix that myself. Well, myself and some of my friends who will rpob just stand around, talk and order the pizza :headspin:

Big in the rear but small in the front end?
monkeykplunk replied to monkeykplunk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah i figured it was mostly bs I mean, the logical way of looking at it is that a wider tyre will give you a bigger area of rubber on the road and therefore improve the way in which the car contacts the road. I spose the crucial thing is that you get a decent tread pattern with regard to water displacement when the tyre is that large, because some may be ineffective in channelling the water away from the centre of a wider tyre. At the moment I'm running Kumho Supra 712's, and they're pretty good at that, but in my travels shopping around I've seen patterns that just wouldn't work on a wide tyre. -
Ok, so I need new tyres as the ones on the rear are pretty much at indicators on the inside of both tyres. At the moment I'm running 255/40 17 on the rear and 235/45 17 on the front. I've gotten some really good prices off people I know, but I thought I'd check em out against prices just over the phone with shops. I got one old bloke who asks me why the hell I would want to run 255's with a 235 on the front. He carried on for a while about how having such a large tyre on the rear will put more pressure on the front of the car and make things like the front suspension work harder and stuff it in the long run. Then he tells me that I won't get any decent mileage out of any tyre anyway, so I may as well just buy cheap ones instead of spending my moeny on expensive things that won't be any better. Whilst I ignored his banter at the time and wondered why he wouldn't just give me a price on what I asked for and take my money instead of talkign me out of something and into something cheaper, he got me thinking..... Is there any truth to what he was saying about the front having to work harder and thus ****ing other things by having larger tyres on the rear? Or was he just full of bullshit?

What speed do you use 5th gear ?
monkeykplunk replied to JeeTeeEss25Tee's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The guy I had driver training with once told me that between 2000-3000 rpm the car is "happy" I re-evaluated that slightly when I got the r33. normally I cruise round town (50-70kmh zones) in 4th, and only use 5th if I'm in a higher speed zone. But I think the car could even handle cruising at 60 in 3rd really. -

Website Ideas and Feature Requests
monkeykplunk replied to PranK's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
Information on SAU sign up (and there various state sign ups) need to be in one place, and possibly linked properly on the main (.com) page. It really helps new users who troll around for a while, like what they see, and then want to contribute. Oh, and having functional links to the .pdf files really helps too. Unlinke the NSW one which wasn't until a few weeks ago. I know I've been wanting to join from the first day I started reading, but it took me ages to 1) find the info cause I thought it would actually be on the front page and 2) find a working link to the .pdf file so that I could actually fill the damn thing out. Thats all I can think of right now. -
Amen to that! Or at least something organised with other import clubs. We could have everything. Drag, drift, circuit, plus dyno, show'n'shine, the works!! Now that'd get the kids in, and I bet everyone would have a ball, no bias at all! Someone get onto it STAT! :headspin:
-
exactly! I've all the people/groups mentioned so far in this thread, I'd heard of none. Obviously if these kind of people got out there and did a little bit of advertising they'd be more likely to have more people turn up. While we're on that, what groups actually run full track days on a semi-regular basis? Days other than drift......
-
HA! My old man did a similar thing a few years back cause he was sick of people breaking into his car at the train station just so they could drive it a street away from thier house at 4 in the morning. It was costing him heaps because they kept breaking the club locks, or in one case bent the steering column because he put it between the wheel and the brake pedal. Anyway, being an electrician, he figured out a way to wire a really loud tweeter up under the dash that would only sound if the power to the other alarm was cut. So basically, if you were good enough to stick your head under there to cut the wire for the siren in the engine bay, then you were gunna end up with one hell of a headache from the tweeter. :headspin: Man, I tell ya though, I'm glad I live in quite ol' Newcastle with you lot suddenly getting every 'line in Sydney broken into.

why doesnt anyone wave in newcastle anymore?
monkeykplunk replied to NZM.031's topic in New South Wales
Hey, just wondering where some of you Newy guys and gals are at? Being new to the 'lines (1 month and loving it!), I've seen quite a few around but there doesn't seem to be that many people on here from up this way. I'm in Rathmines at the moment (until we can find a 4 bed house with a garage that will let us have a dog), and I know I've seen a white 33 around Morisset and a silver 33 around Toronto way. -
http://www.mfx.com.au/ Thye might not have any listed on their site, but talk to em and I reckon they could do something for you.

monkeykplunk replied to NZM.031's topic in New South Wales
ULOOOK, I saw you about two weeks back in Newy on a Thursday night. I was behind you where that dude in the dark green 180 did a massive drift onto Hunter st. Nice car you got there. Anyway, I've only had my 'line for about a month now, and the first thing I noticed from other drivers was the wave. Freaked me out the first time, but now I make sure that if I don't initiate it, I definately respond to it! -
