Interstate Rego And Insurance Question.

its actually $4200 coz u've gotta minus the excess fee. k i'll be honest. if there was no such thing as theft, vandals or anything along the same line, i wouldnt even bother with full comp. i'll be happy with 3rd party and pay for my own repairs. like u've said, full comp is around $3500 a yr + excess fees.

Hey guys, im having trouble finding the rite info. so i was wondering if any of u can help me out ? basically i live in 2 different states. i work and do post grad studies in Vic, but my true home is bak in NSW. every holiday i head bak home to NSW and i drive bak to NSW during the long christmas break. now, my car is currently registered in VIC(was regoed in NSW before) and i have a NSW P-plater licence(im one of those old 23yo p-platers). VICROADS told me it was ok to use my NSW licence as i live in 2 different states. im going to buy a new car within 3 months(in NSW), and i know for a fact the new car will be over the power to weight ratio set out by VICROADS. ok here are my questions: 1. will it be ok to continue using my newly purchased car in VIC without having to change my rego and everything ? i know theres a 3months rule. but since im not permanently staying in VIC, i guess its ok to continue driving without having to change rego. 2. since i've got a NSW p-plater licence, the power to rate ratio will not affect me, BUT if i HAVE to register my new car in VIC, does this rule apply to me ? if it did, can i apply for exemption ? 3. k, this is the most important question of them all. Insurance(just car) told me it was ok to drive the car in both states, but since my new car will be over the power to weight ratio, would just car purposely knock me bak when i apply for an at fault claim ?(assuming im in VIC at the time of the accident) they shouldnt coz i've got a NSW p-plater licence. but they may use the "3months rule" and not having a "VIC licence" to try and get out of payin me. 4. lastly, would JustCar give me a premium estimate based on VIC ? or will it be based on NSW ?(i spend equal amounts of time in both states, but my car is predominately in Vic by a month or 2) i'd rather have Vic's premium coz its alot cheaper than NSW, infact by 1grand. i have asked VICRoads, RTA and JUSTCar. their responses varied. nothing was set. . im going to ask again soon, and make sure everything is set. soo if any1 had a similar situation to mine, please leave some feedback. thanks

be honest when asked and u shouldnt have a problem. like ppl have already said, they shouldnt be handing out insurance policies if they know for a fact that its illegal for u to drive the car. also, ask yourself this, is it worth riskin 20grand with 3rd comp ? i know its the cheap way out, but u dunno what the future may hold. what happens if your skyline is stolen the day after u purchased it ? i know it has happened to fellow sau forumers. but yeh, in the end its your choice. hope u make a wise one. good luck !!

Wtf Is It With Business' These Days?
r34_skyline replied to monkeykplunk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i know what u mean, but u got to look at it from their point of view. can u imagine how many emails and phone calls they get a day ? and outta say... 100 phone calls and email enquiries, only 5 or 6 end up placing an order. being human, we get tired of ppl who simply ask question for the hell of it. -
The Official Rta Guide To Modifications
r34_skyline replied to onBOOST247's topic in New South Wales
what ? even alloy wheels which are legal according to RTA's standards ? (2"bigger, 1.5 inch wider). on an another note, do u have to engineer aftermarket sound systems ? -
toyota camry has them (1997-2001). im sure the wreckers will be able to supply them at a reasonable price.

Tiptronic Question !!
r34_skyline replied to r34_skyline's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
cheers mate. nice info. one more question. how do know what gear you're in ? say u're crusing in 4th gear and approach a traffic light(red), do u push the shift stick down 3 times(4-3-2-1) ? or push it up once to get it bak to 1 (4-1) ? thnx every1 else. -
try the top 10 theft locations on the nrma website.

Tiptronic Question !!
r34_skyline replied to r34_skyline's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol thnx guys. i'm thinking about gettin a tiptronic coz of peak hour traffic. but i also want some fun, so a semi manual sounds good. -
hey guys, is there a difference between an actual manual and a tiptronic manual ? besides the obvious(no clutch, shifts up down etc). do they both work just as well ? also, would the gear ratio change when u shift it over to semi-manual ? or will the ratio be exactly the same as if it was crusing in auto ?

premium drops happened like 2 months ago.
-
would RACV or NRMA match competitor's premium ? (not imports, but any car in general).
-
just be nice about it and they'll let u off with a warning. works 80% of the time.
-
now u can use it as a ciggie plug

r34_skyline replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion

Stamp Duty And Rego On Second Hand Cars ?
r34_skyline replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hrmmm, i wish it was that easy, coz i've asked VICROADS(RTA EQV) the same question 3 times and all of their answers varied. some say no, some say yes. so i dont know what to believe. not to mention the countless times i've emailed them. one of my friend who just moved from QLD to VIC told me that he didnt need to pay stamp duty when he re-rego. he said it was just rego and comp third party. so i dunno... -
Stamp Duty And Rego On Second Hand Cars ?
r34_skyline replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
oh ok thnx. one more question !!! if u buy a car from another state, do u have to pay double stamp duty ? by that i mean, 1.stamp duty from the dealer 2. stamp duty when u re-register the car in your own state. e.g. i buy a car from queensland for $45,000. stamp duty is approx 3% of the purchase amount, therefore $1350. when i drive bak to my state (SA) i would need to change my car rego into SA. do i need to pay stamp duty again ? or just the rego fee ? -
