  1. Make sure you get the crossmember too. Hopefully will come with the g/box.
  2. Thanks Abo! So I'm guessing if I leave the rear as is, when the manual box is done, acceleration and cruising speed (at say 100km/hr) should be negligable.
  3. Anyone know the diff ratios for both auto & manual on the R34 GTT. I am getting my gearbox swapped and wondering what kind of effect the change will have on acceleration, speedo, etc. Anyone know? Cheers.
  4. Did anyone either go here or take any pics last weekend?
  5. For the ppl who have tried it... how oes the price compare to Optimax price. I would imagine it may be a couple of cents dearer?
  6. Good marketing, but a bit scammey (ie bullsh!tting about the kini's) We're all stooges to the marketing machine at some point.
  7. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!... My car's at mechanics til next week. The timing is terrible. Maybe I can take the pushie down there??
  8. Interseted to see the vids!
  9. I bought a GME 160 (forgotten exact model, but was a something 160) which seems to work well. It is 0.5Watt. Obviously, the higher the power, the better the range. I used to use Icom IC40's that were 5W. One day we picked up a colleague from 13.5kms in a straight line! Haven't tested the range yet, but used over about 1km, which is prob enough for me. The price in shop was $129 ea, but I got trade discount @ $99.
  10. Oh, and the other thing is... Imagine "Person A" leases a new Commodore (for example - typical fleet car) and does 40,000kms per year Would that same person (let alone an SAU enthusiast) want to be doing 30 or 40 thou kms a year in a Skyline, especially a GTR. It's almost unheard of. Due to this, and the high cost of running the things, is an enthusiasts car like ours worth the nov lease, or would you go the Falcon/Commodore or WRX locally sold car?
  11. My work offers novated leases via a salary sacrifice arrangement. Another thing too is that they lease company charge you $400 per year for using the service (like an account keeping fee). In Ferni's circumstances, if he savedseveral $,000 per year, he would still be in front. I wish mine was novated now as my gearbox needs rebuilding/replacing which is gonna cost big bucks. D'oh!
  12. If could help if my gearbox wasn't rooted!
  13. I also believe that you need to do a minimum of 25,000kms a yr to make the package worthwhile. I wouldn't mind looking into this, but that requires too much brainpower!
  14. Can someone please email me the Doc (hopefully it's in English?) to [email protected] Cheers
  15. I'm with Dave on this one. They were considerably the cheapest around when I was shopping. Although Clayton Beaurepaires ended up matching their price. A long story, but Clayton was more convenient for me.
  16. Good guessing guys. I nursed it down to the local Nissan Dealer around the corner & they hookup the the Consult device to the ECU. ************************** The printout said: DTC RESULTS SHIFT SOLENOID/V A MANUAL MODE SW ENGINE BRAKE C\U ************************** hOPEFULLY IT'S JUST THAT, BUT THERE WAS A NASTY SOUND WHEN i TOOK IT UP THEIR DRIVEWAY Just waiting on a call back this arvo from the service manager with a report.
  17. Hmmm, so you guys reckon the solenoids? I have turned off the car & left it for a couple of hrs, but no change. I will work out how to do a manual ECU reset, but like you say, it's prob the solenoids.
  18. I have edited the title since the mechanic updated me on my BAD situation. Not only are my solenoids shagged, but there's metal chunks sitting in the bottom of the pan casing. sad.gif I need to pick up another gearbox. Could get another auto, or if the price isn't drastically different, might be better to go the manual conversion. Any idea of where to start to get spares in melb, or interstate if cheaper? Thanks, Dave. Hi Guys, Yesterday my car got stuck in third gear & won't move no matter where you shift the auto. (No Park, Reverse, 1st 2nd or 4th) Could this most likely be a result of the ECU going into limp home mode? Can this be reset by removing the battery? I guess it depends on whether this is stored in RAM or ROM. It's just weird that it happened straight away and wasn't a gradual thing. I do respect my car & do really give it a flogging, which I'd like to think is reason for nothing too major to be wrong. Any ideas most appreciated guys!

Any idea of where to start to get spares in melb, or interstate if cheaper? Thanks, Dave. Last night my car got stuck in 3rd & as I couldn't reverse I had to get towed home (d'oh!). No Park, Reverse, 1st, 2nd or 4th. Nothing... nada. A possibility is that the ECU has gone into limp home mode, but I don't have a consult cable. Does anyone know a good mechanic around Burwood/Chaddy area that is honest & reliable? I need to get it checked out soon.
  20. Congrats Andrew & Tara & glad everthing went well! Seeing as you will be a walking zombie for the next 6 months, we may not see as much of you til she starts slleping right thru the night.
  21. Flatout. Have a look on IGN.com for car racing gmaes. If it's not there, the game was never invented!
  22. Anyone play online using FlatoutNet? Quite a bit of fun! Here's a couple of pics of my car mid race.
