  1. If it had an intercooler before, you can replace the intercooler with a more efficient one without any problems.
  2. They have to have reason to suspect you of being drunk and breaking the law, so then they arrest you and take you in for a test. Is refusing a breath test enough to suspect you of being drunk? Can you then complain they arrested you falsely say if you have a zero reading? Is there a law which says following police directions is required? I AM entiltled to mind my own business and I am required to assist police, however I am asking am I required to assist police to do a breath test? Anyone a lawyer? edit.. actually isn't it that you are required to assist police only once arrested? edit edit.. I just realised I can answer part of my own question. No you can't complain because the police have random breath test laws which allow them procedure to do this. so the only question I have is the one about having to follow police direction in other than a traffic management role such as "MOVE ON" when you see a friend get in a car accident?
  3. The series 2 version has now been sold and posted out. The R33 Series 1 version on the left is still for sale.
  4. I can vouch for that. Very nice car. The Mazda 3 Maxx Sport never gets under 600k out of a tank, typically I get more than 660k per fill. They drive with mercedes like handling, and have enough power in the 2.0L petrol variant for driving to make it satisfying to drive without planting the accelerator. And most impressive of all they are quiet, and stay quiet after a few years too! The car is very handy with the roof racks on full time, still very quiet, and tow bar too. The ONLY SINGLE fault and enough to make me rant about it that I can make of this vehicle is the air conditioning, which I have been told needs to be changed to a custom aftermarket solution for the condensor panel to make it blow hard and cold. It is cold enough to maintain a comfortable temperature just not strong enough to do something like bring it down to sub 20 degrees celcius on a 38 degrees celcius day. A typical summer day like that and it will sit at a constant 23-26 degrees on the freeway regardless of the a/c fan speed setting. I need an air conditioner to go to at below 20 degrees no matter how hot it is outside. This is because after exercising running around and run back to the car, I feel sweaty and need to cool down to get rid of the humid feeling. I guess this car was made for Japan with the expectation that you will park your car in an undercover car park during the day at the office, not for active Australians, who have to leave their car in the sun, and who after doing so and driving for 2 hours will expect to eventually cool down in the car, which will never happen in this car.
  5. 270cca will start the car just fine!!! The battery weighs a lot less and costs a lot less too, cheap enough to replace from bigw if it does go bad. Also fits the spot with standard bracket too. After I installed a $3500 stereo system and wanting to be able to play it for hours without charging the car led to the following experience with batteries... I've been down the route of trying first 950cca 850 standard ca then yellow top then red top sealed 550cca and beack to a cheap 270cca. It cost a fortune (almost $2000 for this experience) and in the end if you are having trouble starting it is probably corroding factory wiring. The real reason batteries are in the boot is to keep the temperature down...They will all die in the end if its heat in the engine bay causing it (the temp under the bonnet with the turbo can easily cook batteries). I have a R33 sedan series2 with the battery in the front and I even installed vents on the bonnet to keep the battery cool (it worked or I'd have moved it to the boot already). If you really want to spend big $$$$ get a lithium-ion version (special effort on your part) which will last longer - put it in the boot to keep the heat down to preserve battery life and it will last 10 years and be light weight. If you are looking for performance do not forget lighter is better! Power to weight ratio is important, and save yourself a lot of money on batteries, just buy a nice light weight cheapie (try to keep it cool to preserve its life) and replace it with a new one if it breaks. I hope this saves fellow skyline enthusiasts some money. Another tip - batteries sulfate if they are allowed to go flat, so make sure it gets charges no less than once a fortnight. If you let a red top go flat 2 times it will only have 6 months of life left in it.
  6. Location: Sydney Contact: pm me Comments: I have two of these available, series1 smooth finish version (left side in photo) and the other is series2 with textured finish (right side). $50 for either one. update - series 2 version sold series 1 version still available
  7. frozenwaffles maybe the drift concerns were due to the truck being on the track? I wasn't given any special instructions before I went on, just told the truck had just come off. Just noticed lots of large lumps of rubber picked up from the track seem to have melted onto my tyres. The surface of the tyres look like they melted too. Hope it doesn't ruin them with temp cycling for next time. TUESDAY 25th IS NEXT TRACK DAY I'll be there if I can get the clamp and the missing is fixed. I'm ready to do the brake fluid Monday morning.
  8. I just got back from the track, fun fun. My first time! 6-8 times round track - from memory corner speeds end straight 60 70 70 130 70 80 120 ? 100 100 then last corner 70 onto straight -- only from memory which is shaky as I had an hour and a half of trouble on the way home. make 190-200kph on straight. then boiled my brake fluid The nut on the bolt holding the clamp for the lower radiator hose onto the radiator fell off and only discovered it coming off the freeway on the way back when it stalled and there was abit of smoke. I will need to pop by nissan spares when they open. At the moment though with the cap off and the pipe just lossely conencted by hand seems like in 3rd gear something might have been damaged as the engine is haveing spark breakdown a bit over 3000rpm, hope its just a coil pack which got wet from the water spray onto the top of the engine which happened when I was filling the radiator (steam was spewing out as I poured the warter in) and not due to a damaged piston or ring.
  9. Sheng I'm leaving to go there now.

    98 Ron

You can find a number of 98 octane rated fuels around BP Ultimate is 98 Mobil 8000 is 98 Caltex "Vortex98" is 98 Woolworth sometimes sell the Vortex98 as well as standard Vortex96 and you can use the discount vouchers. The caltex stuff seems to make the engine run more power, consistently and doesn't seem to go off as quick so its good for buying on Tuesday low prices. Ultimate I seem to get a bad batch every now and again but when I get a good one its really good. (also exhaust smells nice) Mobil 8000 seems to be a reliable fuel in terms of batch quality but makes exhaust pipe sooty. I used to use the Shell Optimax 98 but now go out of my way to avoid it. If you were tuning with lean mix I used to think Mobil 8000, but seat of my pants feel I now think Vortex 98 is better. Getting a good batch of BP Ultimate after using Mobil 8000 cleans out the exhaust pipe soot, so ultimate is a good choice if you are forced to buy after the refills on Wednesday at the higher price.
  15. somehow i posted in wrong thread
  16. No you only need the blue slip. No need for a pink slip The blue and pink slips are both the same thing: They are both road worthy certificates. You only need the blue one when it was unregistered as then they do extra checks to verify design standards.
  17. Ok I got the blue slip! I'll have to put the price at least half up So now selling for only $1000 including the blue slip.
  18. I just found out it only costs $45 for a blue slip so I will take it down and see about getting it done myself on Thursday. Somehow I thought it cost up to a $1000. So discounted the car by $1000. Will keep you updated.
  19. Hi Sheng...pics added. Should be just spray clean the engine bay.

  21. Whats with the rinse repeat, don't you have to live there as a resident for 12 months not just own the car there for 12 months to qualify for private import? you can get insurance against the ship sinking
  22. evil_weevil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox you working public holidays and on sundays $130 for the practise day. $92 for the licence, you can get a one month temp L2S CAMS licence from a club executive useable right away, then send in the form and the one year licence will be sent to you in the mail. .
  23. Test should only be noise, try asking a compliance workshop thats been around for a while (eg. 60kph constant speed past sensor 3 meters away). Mid muffler is a good idea. Pollution only goes as far as to check for a cat converter. An enclosed pod is absolutely fine for sure, though you could present evidence that the car was complied with the pod the way it is, chat with the people that complied the car originally if you can. Depending on the import/manufacture/compliance date it may have different compliance rules regarding pod filters. A cold air induction box with a coupple of pipes bringing air to the box will improve efficiency and is therefore a good idea though. The cops don't know what mods are legal because different laws apply to different Australian manufacture/compliance dates on the same model car with the same production date in Japan. Apparently you get a fine and then you get it cleared, not sure if you still have to pay the fine if it was complying in the first place? Let us know how this goes, do they charge to do the testing, when I asked workshop they told me it costs about $3,500 to get the testing done and compliance certificate for mods?
  24. 23rd March 2008 is Easter Sunday isn't it! 23rd March grand prix L2S practise day at Oran Park. I'm going and want to see you there! Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. This year is the earliest Easter any of us now alive will ever see. The last time it was this early was in 1913, and the next time it will be this early will be in the year 2228.
