    Oil Cooler

Havent posted for a while so I thought I stick my nose in. Just fitted an oil cooler to the beast. Now I know how Nissan built the GTR. They took an oil filter cartridge and an air con unit and then decided to build a car around it. Next job is to put the car back together, I mean literally 40,000 bits to go back on. I also know why the service manual is so important. If you start at step 5 there is no way the thing will fit. You gotta do it by the book. Cheers and Comon Summer. Greg

    Ultimate 98

Filled up at BP Sandy Bay this am and the bloke told me he would have it by end of next week. Got the pump all ready to roll Cheers Bov
  7. Yeh I had the same scare with my 32 GTR when I bought it. I had to transport the car 300 f..ing klm and half way home I noticed no oil pressure sitting on 100kph. So I slowed down and the pressure came up a little. It was all over the place and mostly no pressure. Ended up being a stuffed sender unit. Seems its very common. Cheers

    Ultimate 98

Well thats good news. I was considering the worth of United Petroleum's 98 RON product but that has a 10% ethanol base so Im told. Ultimate 98 will be very welcome. Then I can get my Apexi tuned how it should be. Cheers

    Redline Experience

Bursons in Argyle Street. I think it was a tad over $100.00 for 4 ltrs Dont let that put you off if you have a suss gearbox. Its well worth it. Cheers Read all about it here: http://www.redlineoil.com/
  23. Well they say the proof is in the pudding. I had a lazy syncro in my R32 GTR. On the down shift from 5th to 4th the only way I could engage with out a gear crash was to double clutch and spike the revs to 4000. Anything less than that and "CRUNCH". The change from 3rd to 4th was fine as long as the change was not rushed. Choice - Medication or surgery? Spoke to Stu who pointed me onto the "Redline" product range. Thanks Stu youve saved me a bucket of work and not to mention money. 4 Ltrs of Redline "Lightweight Shockproof" gear oil later and I now have silky smooth box. No kidding this stuff really works. I can't crash the gears if I try now. 3rd to 4th I can jam it through and not a sign of gear clash. Id recommend this product to anyone having similar problems which I understand is a common issue with import R32's. If you are interested in the science behind how it works it quite simple really. Most oils contain friction modifyers. Thats great for the teath of the gears and the roll shafts but does not help a wearing syncro at all. Syncros by nature use friction to work. In a nut shell, if the oil is too slippery the syncros struggle to do their job (Im talking worn parts here). Redline has reduced the friction modifyer content but replaced that with synthetics to improve gear wearing characteristics. Woww great stuff. Cheers
