  1. STI gearset is the same as a normal rex, just a higher ratio which gives it the close ratio effect.. probally a little kinder on things to as you can get more power down in a hurry so it'll generally means the wheels spin before the box gets into a big load sitation..
  2. mmmhmmm, the 99/00 onwards boxes are ok in the scale of taking a beating, pre 98 they wern't so flash, the introduction of double syncro's on first second and third made things a little better, but the 94/95 boxes are fairly weak and will pop are a little beating..
  3. no $ for that either, im aiming for the classic rally with that myself, hopefully with a box considerbly better than standard..
  4. soon isn't really a posability, ivan hasn't got the spare funds to find a new shell, or fix the current one, options are being looked at and weighed up tho.. see what happens.. classic rally is his aim to have it sorted out and back on the road..
  5. Read in the events forum someone wanted to see pics of ivans corolla, after its offroad excursion.. http://www.arach.net.au/~creative/Ivan/ Ivan is fairly ok, he suffered some bruising from the harness and a couple of bruised ribs, but otherwise walked away unscatched from what was a big off.. in short it left the road sideways at about 130-150kph we estimate, and the front left of the car hit a tree on the side, after that he can't remember and we didn't get a chance to ask the official who did see it all happen what did happen, but it ended up on its side front end facing up the hill, by looks of things it did a bit of a prioette in the air judging by the gouges it left in the road and the bitumen you can make out in one of those pics stuck in the guard.. hes somewhat thankful of the money he spent on a really good pair of harness's and the seats in the car..
  6. Ive had peter garden do a couple of my cars, hes out in ballajura, does the 95% dark as hell tint, wierdly i never got a sticker ofr it on either car, got pulled over a couple of times but thtye never questioned it.. you can find him in the phone book..
  7. a GT-R maybe, not a gts-t, thats the povo pack
  8. hmm where do i beging.. the silver 34 for a start.. after that a few personal creations ive been dreaming of for a while, zb fairlane, fullhouse 429, big pair of turbos, and around 1500hp.. mmm wheel spin in all gear.. in the world of exotics, TVR, everyone wants a ferarri, TVR's are all class.. mk5 cossie anyone?..
  9. the average skyline does handle like a boat
  10. ive got 9 left, i usually get done for a 1 pointer each year, when i first had my licence i got down to 1 point, and had to life on that for 18 months.. that said, ive never lost my licence *knocks on wood*
  11. you can get a harness for the likes of plugging a fcon etc into the normal harness loom and retain the original ECU, think HKS make them, guys down at speedworks can source them in for you..
  12. you'll need a l2, well if you want to be a semi regular at this sort of thing..
  13. Ken got the chop chop by a rex last hill climb ps, steve you'll need better bait than that, im 5'10" for reference, im just a stick figure, no high chair needed in previous R driving efforts either..
  14. Mmm one day, when i have my own R to tinker with..
  15. Baz at speedworks, has put countless RB's together, 9242 8888
  16. hmm the yellow rs2k shape escort, i think..
  17. paul yeah, progressive power, it acelerates damm nice, aj let me take for a quick blat up the street and back last night, it comes on power very very nicely, im hanging to have a fang of it around the track once its all sorted, the dog box is so damm sweet to change to, i must have one..
  18. yah i know, he probally could have gone quicker if he had more time in the car, but hadn't so he was *****ing it around and just trying to keep it clean while in his first race
  19. for reasons unknown he wants me to drive it again, im second in class, and everyone else has one more event than i do under there belt, so taking out the class win wouldn't be that un-achievable if i do the rest of the series..
  20. its at the pannel shop atm, sourcing bits and peices to sort it out..
  21. we'll be down at albany, hopefully, planning to anyway, once the mighty corolla in un-armco'd
  22. hopefully, as someone said to me the other day, it will be something stupid that ends the day, while getting to hot isn't that un normal a thing on a new car that requires sorting and teething probs resolved, a brand new pivot starter button packing it in was, well, damm anoying.. oh well, thats racing..
  23. 430 odd at 6500, main problem is it was breaking down above 6500, seems to be either stuffed cam angle sensors(we took a spare, well swapped the one in the car on sat night hoping it would resolve the issue, but didn't, we never had time to test), or theres an issue with the motec not feeding it enough voltage, so the top end speed was reduced, as was using each gear to its peak potential.. we didn't make it there saturday as the car only first fired at 6:30 on saturday morning, and a couple of issues brough tuning to a halt early on saturday morning, wit the issues fixed aj tuned it sat night, well, tuned it to 6500 as it had the ignition issue above that, a few of us did a pile more work to it sat night to get it completely ready for sunday.. race one, the pivot starter switch jammed on, so after half a lap, rather than trash the os geiken flywheel and starter motor he pulled off and had it pulled back to the pits, replaced pivot switch with a normal push button switch found at the local dickies, fixed that problem, second race it had heat issues and rather than risk anything he pulled out, no need to push it, we wouldn't have won anything, and lost everything.. on its first ever lap it cut a 67 second lap, which is about 3 seconds off the front runners, not bad for a brand new car the owner hadn't driven more than 200 meters.. we'll be back at the next race with the issues addressed, and will hopefully be able to show the full potential of the car, it managed a 66 in race pace with traffic and was quickly catching the rx7 of kim ledger so we're happy, and the car looks and sounds awesome..
  24. Yah, when we get a copy of them, sometime in the next few days, waited around for results, saw we wouldn't get a trophy and buggered off, i could only manage a best of 4th in class, along with denting ivans car i dented my confidence for the day, oh well thats racing, ivan came in 5th, jaffey was second in class and second outright according to the results i had, will be ont he net in the next few days no doubt at www.racetime.com.au
  25. The set of black one you left on the last run where nice handy work i must say.. cheers for use of the ratchet strap again, i think we'll be puirchasing one shortly, should the armco and any of us meet erm again.. atleast i wasn't the only one to kiss it..
