  1. ARGH! MY EYES!
  2. I heard them in floreat last night too.. however i think i hold the answer there was a festivle of perth finale thing down near the bell tower, was on last night and tomorrow, i think thats the bastard who had me wondering if they where practice bombing at cottesloe..
  3. its about 15-20 minutes to bolt the car in, do the run and put its wheels back on, it might sounds time consuming but its far from the truth, once going its quite quick to do the attaching.. it takes just as long to properly strap a car to the dyno..
  4. I did, there $500 a year more to insure with :-
  5. Cause not many insurance companies are cool with roll cages, and id prefer to decalre all my mods than be shafted should the worst happen...
  6. Turbo for drifting isn't what i consider practical, given the other spritner came on boost after 4k, and the ae86 we have to beat up on is perfect for the application, bigger boost pulley, giving around 10-11 psi over the stock 6-7, and nice progressive delivery which is perfect for control of smoking ass end.. well i would have been smoking tyres if the bastard didn't melt the dizzy cap while tuning it on the dyno this afternoon, could probally pick up a new 4ag cap without a hassle from marlows en-route but with tuning only done to 4000rpm, its isn't worth the hassle.. always next time, in the new inproved version... and we had 8 sets of tyres for the day *sigh*
  7. erm, thats the eastern states, i pay 1200 per year for my rex with wesfarmers, while over east its around 5k, and you need a quick track alarm system.. the east is much much more expensive compared to WA, for any car. and with any company..
  8. you can get a tempory cams for the day.. theres a couple of us heading down, we managed to get our drifting ae86 fired up tonight, so it will be down there, along with a large stash of tyres, another s13, and maybe a second sprinter, if he can fix his now busted ass diff, could be a supercharged versus turbo sprinter battle happening..
  9. Im going through this saga at the moment.. I've found one company, justcar, that will cover everyhting, even a roll cage, no hassles, the only problem is they are underwritten by aami, which don't have a setup in WA... and justcar don't know when they will, and its driving them up the wall, i rang back the other day to see if they will be here anytime soon, and the woman told me that the amount fo calls a day she gets from people in WA is massive, and the amount of potential business they are loosing is huge.. maybe we need to hassle ammi to get there act together..
  10. No tyres deflection, no hassles with high or low pressures giving odd readings.. theres a whole bunch of variables that instantly get dealt with by direct boling the dyno to the hub, not to mention that if it ever did come free of the packs the car would drop straight ot the ground and thats about as far as it would move..
  11. yeah that was a fun day me:'you gunna tie this thing down?' them: 'nah mate we've had over 600 horse on this dyno before no worries' me: 'you've nevr had a car like this on here im sure, would you tie it down' 'them: 'nah she'll be right' i then got 4 of the fatest bastards there to sit in the 4 passenger seats to try and keep it in a bit better, and for added effort to stop it lifting out of the rollers, they had one of the mechanics put his foot on the wheel chock to hold it in place incase it slipped out.. oh and they even turned on the air fan which they hadn't bothered with for everyone else.. while on the run i watched the wheel sit right on the top of the roller towards redline and cringed waiting for it to roll forward of the top and onto the waiting floor.. just what i wanted to happen with a car that wasn't mine.. id love to see work safes response if they saw that..
  12. One thing you'll find in most v8 shops as a learning point for others is trouble shooting, the amount of wierd issues the average trev repair shop would have sorted over its time and most of them have been around for a bloody long time could potentially fix that ailing bug you just can't sort out, and it will only take a few minutes of explaining the problem to them and they will generally be able to point you in the right direction, modern day car or not..
  13. The same brand of callipers can be found on subaru's, except the new sti's with the brembo's, toyota landcruiser and hilux's, the 200sx range, and pretty much any manufacturer who realeases a car with 4 pots as standard, sumitomo do a lot of OEM supplies..
  14. saddy im a RB member to, an early member number 45 or something *sighs* its been the most tormenting experience of my life, and still goes on to this day, i see a quack almost daily and can't afford mods to the car because of it.. that said im one of the few who can claim to have kicked kens ass at anything involving wheels.. *flame suit on about subaru gearboxes*
  15. Anyone know what the cpaer was with the two commies the cops tried to take outside carosel for getting a bit tail happy, i was told they got one guy in a white sedan but the green ute did a runner, so much of a runner he almost ploughed into me on leach highway then buggered off down the manning road exit when he got clear of us all..
  16. Congradulations you know my full name, for the other forums, just so people can see why ive been bagging you, check http://www.wascc.com.au its a mighty good laugh.. As for my opinion, i base my own opinion, myself, on work i have seen done, i know a lot of people steve, i do a lot of motorsport, i am a member of numerous car clubs, i have been involved with cars for as long as ive been able to lift a spanner, AJ doesn't influence my decision of the quality of your work, ive seen enough of it, and spoken to people first hand who have dealt with you and told me of the work you've done for them to base my own thoughts on this.. Which lap records exactly do you hold steve?.. i mean you personally, a customer car getting a record doesn't make it your record, unless you where driving at the time, then fire away with them.. When they came to you as kids, carbies and webbers where around, not efi, not exactly hard to tune a carb, im sure you had a fine selection of screw drivers for the task..

  18. Rev has basically hit the nail on the head, the trick is to read up about what you want done, you don't have to spend hours researching if you don't want to or have the time but atleast get a good grasp of the facts.. in the case of windind up the boost and timing a few simple things like.. how much boost is safe will the turbo(s) handle the extra boost over a prolonged period of time what sort of gains should be expected and if it comes in way over or under the expected figures why will the fuel system cope how much timing is really needed do i have a good enough intercooler setup to cope with it if you arm yourself with questions like that, look for the answers and feel that in your mind you have a good idea of whats required you can go shopping, if you hear answer that seem right of left field when it comes to what you have written down, your not at the right shop.. and sorry to anyone if i have offended them by naming there favorite workshop as somewhere not to go, im not trying to put anyone out of business, i just hate it when people who know that questionable work has occured and has dealt with them or seen the results of work that wasn't done as expected or it all goes bang in a big way don't actually say it, and just instead recomend them as someone to go see, i say what i say so when people ask me for an hounest opinion, they get one, as like most people here, im not cashed up to my eye balls and i hate to see people who don't have a pile of cash to begin with, suddenly need to rebuild a motor because a tuner wound up the boost, added some timing and took out some fuel.. and some of the work ive seen done to cars that have gone to another workshop to be sorted would make people cringe..
  19. The inside of the R was coated to, i can assure you of that, as for the zed, that franz, nearly every time hes been to collie he manages to loose it at the same point and coat the outside, and inside of the car in dust, he even said on sat he was going to leave the windows up for fear of it happening again, one time he didn't put them up he comes off, all on video to! http://www.hotperthcars.net/Franz/2003-01-...ollie/FranzLose(low).mpg
  20. Theres some more pics up of the Day.. http://www.franzonline.net/private/collie/ saddly, no memorial shot of the twisties.. and some more here http://www.l33t.net/russ_collie_silviawa/
  21. Im not telling rumours, these are real experiences, maybe not of myself, but of people i speak to, or work i have seen after it was completed.. theres good and bad, why can't we say both..
  22. As i keep saying, i have seen the results fo work performed by these companies, had friends deal with these companies, or spoken to these companies.. Now, if you can't understand that someone else sharing this information might save someone, money, time or for example a motor, then really you need to sit down and have a think about it, because if i was asking for peoples hounest opinion id want them, not someone bagging out others for sharing that opinion.. its called free speech, its my personal opinion, i have no financial interest in any of the companies i mentioned that he should go see, im not employed by anyone, so this comes from my personal thoughts, experiences, and what ive seen and what people who have been customers have told me.. if i wanted to sledge them i could, but i won't, im just giving my opinion of who i would go see, and who i wouldn't if i was to spend my hard earned on some work thats not sledging, sledging would be adding names to my story of ECU choice earlier..
  23. I don't wish to try them, as ive seen the results of some of there work, and given your reply ill just asume you have absolutely no idea.. i never once claimed to be an expert, however, i certainly know im clued in a lot more than a large portion of general car enthusiast who come to these forums to ask advice, and i don't mind sharing my knowledge with them.. as for my selection of cars, big deal, you chose a gts-t youd think theres no need to modify one of them either would you, horses for courses.. No actually.. The r34 was together for several months and made several trips to the track, infact i drove it one night, and made an 11.2 pass, and then backed it up with an 11.13, that makes it the fastest GT-R in west aus, the fastest skyline, and the fastest 4wd, and inside the top ten in australia(someone correct me if im wrong), a week later it made 590 hp at PAS and took out the dyno comp over all. the motor DID NOT cost 100 grand, the bottom end stroker kit, can be bought for 17k, RRP, thats crank, pistons and rods, the engine failure it has had is due to poor quality machining, of which is being repaired at no cost to the owner, and the cause being chased up with the machinist who did the work.. id sugest you actually research some more before listening to hear say, which given your comments i would have a guess came from the company your supporting so happily.. No im not an employee at speedworks, however i help out there a lot, im not an expert but i sure as hell know what im on about, so when i give advice, it truthful and hounest comment.. As i said earlier, i tell people to go to workshops based on what people tell me they have experience, what they thought of the service and products they got, and if they feel they got what they wanted, or they got a load of lies and nothing like they expected.. ps, ive been there and done it more times than you could imagine..
  24. I could list a ton of reasons why i feel it should be avoided, but basically, its a matter of who you feel is telling the truth, and who isn't, and what gear there going to be using to do the job on your car, and what gear they recomend you to buy for how much you want to spend.. or if you go in there asking for something you know is a quality product to be told its a hunk of shit and to buy something else.. ive never used any of the workshops listed, aside from speedworks, and another i didn't list maximum motorsport, because i do 99% of the work on my car, myself as there is so few people out there that i personally trust, and if i did have to it would only be race torque or speedworks, yes it costs more, however as with the computer industry, you pay more, you get a better product.. and yes granted nearly everyone will tell a porkie pie, its just a matter of how big, eg a Uni Chip is not a superior product over a motec, as someone once told me when they where putting my car onto a dyno.. he didn't take to kindly to me informing them he mustn't know how to tune a motec after he goes 'nah there shit mate' speedwork are in ossie park http://www.speedworks.com.au
  25. Theres more than just barry around who know what to do, its just a matter of dealing with the people you feel are telling you the truth.. My recomendations for what you want, go and see the following Race torque tim slako speedworks BRE C-red/lumpy Avoid ###### ###### ###### the 3 avoid's are there because anytime you hear from them the bullshit-o-meter goes straight into redline.. Mod note: Please pm XRW for names of company.
