  1. hahaha nice im hoping to be at the VIC round in my shitter 33 with some of the other WA guys, well im moving to vic, its just a matter of money for me to get to the dutton
  2. given its a what if ill throw in my what if solution.. forget 6 t25's or the like, ideally what you'd be better of looking at is something like the turbos found on either starlets, or more preferably, the 600cc k cars out of japan, something really small... a few reasons for this size, the physical turbo's themsleves are not big, and ideally, with smart plumbing, you could possibly pull it off, without having to chop apart the firewall/strut towers to get them all in, probably involve some careateive manifold runners and a careful think through response, given the 600cc jobs are driven by very little, ideally, with 2.4l of capacity, you'd still end up with a car that actually had boost below 6k tuning it would be mighty interesting but itd be fairly exciting to pull off.. if i had wads of cash laying around and was bored id go do it for a giggle myself
  3. impul, this is what hes trying to do, unfortunately nissan aus and world wide, are out of cranks, and don't know whent hey will have anymore.. i luckily scored one late last year for my car from a private seller in the east still in the box, so that may be one option, get some adds intot he for sale sections.. otherwise, get your old crank checked for straightness and if it needs a polish/grind and re-use it, if its not cracked it will be fine to use.. and get the jun collar installed if you have an early model 32 crank
  4. Keep an eye on the Evo driven by matt cherry and kim ledger, its one seriously fast and well sorted car, makes a dab under 400 at the treads on 98, 8 pot bembo's up front and they can both fairly peddle, around the track it'll be brutally quick, notarus and authur will probably flog everyone on the motorkhana stuff, damn those guys can hook a car around a khana
  5. Yes, hes being very gready, and not sharing with the others.. Happy getting older day Lauren!
  6. What are you using to monitor the temps with?, and what model of car do you have, your info says an S13, its possible if you have done a engine conversion, and have used the rb26 dash temp sender, instead of the one meant for your model of car, it's reading different, just went through this myself, at 90 degree's, the needle in my 33 with a 26 sender was off the top of the dial, witht he 25 sender its down at mid way where it should be..
  7. sgio are controlled by the NRMA, when i had my rex's a mate told me to try them out, being 21 with a rex wasn't getting me any favours anywhere till i rang them, $660 odd a year, perfect.. sold that car, got another, went straight back, couple years later, another new car, $700something bucks a yr no worries, second yr of owning that car, it DOUBLES, no a mild increase, it doubled.. furious i rang them and demanded an explanation, to which i got "oh no sir, your policy won't have doubled", until he looked it up on the computer, and realised i was right, he looked into it and came back with "the wrx is a high theft risk veichle, they don't have an imobalizer", explaining to him that anything after 97 had factory imobilizers built in, and the only way you can steal them now was to get the keys off the owner, or flat bed them didn't change anything.. finally he explained NRMA had taken over and that the price rise was due to the policy they have on the car.. they're a pack of wankers.
  8. Actually, thats a load of rubbish.. i worked this out the other day, the yanks pay about 70-80 CPL AUS compared to us paying nearly double that.. we're on par with the price of fuel in the uk, but they pay more to avoid the cars on the road, but they also have a very well sorted public transport system, compared to our crap ones.. i think bitching about the fuel price is fair, i fail to under stand how it takes some 8 years to go from 50-60cpl, to about 80-90 cpl, then SUDDENLY, in a two years period, go from 89-90 cpl to nearly a buck 50.. its a load of shit, oil costs have gone up yes, but lets face it, they've stayed much the same, production costs are less due to better refinement techniques, yet fuel companys post monsterous proffits, as do the goverments.. its a load of crap, its nothing but proifteering on the side of the fuel companies, and the aus goverment, the goverment won't reduce tax either, because they'd suddenly loose the neat little cash cow they've built up over the past couple of yrs, fueling it with fear and speculation of war as a reason to up the prices further..
  9. Can you tell me what you have done with the air bleeding setup to the header tank?, ity looks interesting, and im curious to what you have done
  10. So, do you think that statement is still true now?..
  11. Permits don't do squat 99% of the time, most cops don't believe in them and just ignore the fact you have gone to the effort to do things by the book.. ivew also had friends have permit paperwork torn up in front of them by police when pulled over, and shown them the permits for everything..
  12. *giggle* your funny hope you have your permits laminated to save them tearing them up in front of you.. they also tend to not pay attention to permit regardless and still sticker you..
  13. $5 to watch a track day thats not a race meet or drifting? bit rude don't you think..
  14. there was a lot of fake tickets made, bit out of trafiks control if that happens
  15. Street cars has been given a 10yr extension, for now anyway, the IP people are unhappy, but stiff, theres a lot more street cars than there is IP cars, mine included.. the one really big issue i have with street cars in WA is that they banned 4wd's, and forced them to run under IP rules, this came about after someone spent a wad of money on an evo, and fairly creamed everyone, winning the championship that yr, because the class is running under the sports car rules, all be it a bastardised version of them, they just took the no 4wd's your have to run under IP route and went back to having turbo rotaties up the front.. means that a pile of r's, rex's and evo's who where serious street punters and circut boys, who where considering racingly, suddenly had to slap a restrictor on and slow it down, so they just said stuff it, slightly detramental to the class as i know of several guys who wanted to compete but went elsewhere.. that said, looks like ill be sticking my 33 on the boat to tassie a couple times a year to go play in this class, looks like a barell load of fun, anyone got some rules they can link me too? cheers
  16. anyone got any ideas on this one before i go and do it?
  17. You stuck goo on top of the oil pump gasket?, or didn't use a gasket at all? if you did use a gasket, why goo it?, theres no need to add silicone to a gasket sealed surface..
  18. they did indeed.. LF performance also had a stack of martini fuel available contact them on 9350 6880
  19. curiosity question.. what happens if you where to reverse the end of the rail the reg lives on.. Im looking to do the entry at the front of the rail, and the reg on the back, eg piston 6, so i can mount the reg up on the firewall, and then plumb it directly into the hardline return pipe.. would it then make no 1 the lean piston?, or would it just get around the lean out issues with no6?
  20. Neons are legal, provided you only see the glow/hue of them, if you can see the light source itself when they are on, you need to fix that up.. bov, provided its not too loud should pass tyres are tyres, if they are legal go over the pits with them as for the parcel shelf, provided there has been no steel cut out of it, should be fine, if it has had steel cut out, its a 10k fine for wheoever did it if its a shop, and i think you may be liable for a fine if it was you.. easiest thing to do is run it over the pits and see what they say, 90% of stickers are just time wasters
  21. This is pretty much the conclusion i came too, but ill be adding dash fittings to it, and ive got a sard reg to go with it, main reason im going dash fittings, is its a race car, i want it all to be reliable, dash fittings also look a hell of a lot cleaner than lengths of rubber hose, and a lot easier to remove than trying to break the seal a rubber hose forms to the hardpipe when it comes to removing the motor if need be.. now if only they wern't so stupidly expensive...
  22. Average WA mortgage is $305,000 The average WA mortgage has broken the $300,000 barrier amid predictions that the critical shortage of houses for sale in Perth will drive the median house price to more than $350,000 within months. Research by mortgage broker AFG found that the average WA mortgage hit $305,000 in March – up 26.5%, or $64,000, from a year ago. Only NSW has a higher average mortgage, with WA recently surpassing Victoria and Queensland. The spike has fuelled fears that Perth housing is increasingly out of reach and sparked a call for the State Government to do more to help. AFG executive director Malcolm Watkins said the sharp rise in mortgages sold by AFG – which has 10% of the WA market – has been bigger than the gain in Perth house prices, which rose 18.2% in 2005, according to figures from the Real Estate Institute of WA. Source: The West Australian I fail to see how people will be able to afford a 300+k mortgage when its hard enough to get 200+k for a first home.. either peoples wages are gunna have to go up or people won't be buying house any time soon
  23. went through this myself, heres how i got around it.. poured 7-8 litres of oil into the motor jacked the back of the car up as high as it will go removed the oil pressure sender from the filter mount and fed oil into it using an oil can and a length of hose reverse cranked the motor by hand, in an effort to suck the oil backwards from the oil filter/mount it then built up pressue, a number of things like filling the filter mount and revserve cranking didn't proove fruitful, but this combination of things did.. before you fire it up once you have pressure, be sure to drain any excess oil out, i just removed my turbo feed line and cranked it over until id taken the excess out... took me about an hour to resolve it, and i can assure you, it was a long hour, that'll learn me for not packing the oil pump with vasoline.. that said, another friend kicked his rebuilt 26 over not long after and same thing, it got oil pressure when he fired it tho after a couple of seconds, so im guessing the vacum created by the pump when running was enough to suck the oil up..
  24. I dealt with him recently on an engine rebuild i performed for my car, he was most happy to answer my questions and info seeking, something ive found hard to acomplish with 99% of performance shops as people don't want to give out what they think are secrets, even with shops run by friends.. refreshing change to actually deal with someone who doesn't play secret squirell and gives a straight up, forward answer.. my cars better for it, if all shops behaved like he did, the world would be a better place, especially if they knew as much as he does..
  25. be easy as pie to smash a socket onto that thing, take you all of 5 minutes, get cracking if you haven't got the key for it you need to turf it anyway especially if your other wheels have the same locknut
