  1. Haha, yes........ show pony........ thats me Will have to catch you soon, can't wait to see the finished product.
  2. I will prolly get mine after Xmas sometime. Pretty busy from here on in, oh I love Xmas. . . . Thanks for your efforts Mud!
  3. Judging by the amount of oil that sprayed out when I couldn't get the T-peice to seal off, I can't imagine a little oil dribbling down from can could effect it much at all. If it behaves anything like a stormwater line, then the oil from the can would just back up until pressure from the turbo return subsided, not the other way around??? All it does it join into the oil return from the turbo which then goes straight into the sump. Can't see how it could have any effect on the oil going into the turbo. And wouldn't most (if not all) of the pressure be released as gas back into the intake, which would be an area of much lower pressure, leaving the oil to just dribble down the oil return. That is how I thought it would all work anyway.
  4. Nice looking car. I prolly would have gone a little different with the interior but it one nice looking 31. Good work.
  5. Yeah, I am always copping heaps about the cost, but I am the one who is laughing when between sprint sessions I am kicking back drinking a coke and they are stuffing around emptying there catch cans. Got it from Nengun http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/product/314 I was going to go an ARC one (or copy) but I am not a big fan on the one or two breather pipes going the full ength of the engine bay even though that seems to be the most popular. It just looks untidy IMHO.
  6. Yeah, I have a few mates fill up their catch cans, usually takes about 10-12 laps for them. The Nismo item is the one out of the Z-tune catalogue, same item for 33 and 34. It has a little baffle between the inlet hose (bottom) and the outlet (to intake) or top hose. The oil return goes straight out the bottom of the can and joins the oil return line for the rear turbo. The 90 bend out of the turbo gets replaced with a new T piece. The only problem encountered was the new T piece needed a spacer made up as it wasn't long enough to clear the housing on the turbo. I thought buying nismo would have mean't perfect fitment???? I guess not. . . . The thing I do like about it though is it looks very factory and I don't have big long breather pipes going right across the engine bay. For those who like to look as stock as possible
  7. I ran a few track days without the baffles, just overfilling a bit. It seemed to be ok, but I did get a lot of oil pissing out the dipstick and a lot of blow by through the breather pipes. I now have the Trust sump extension/with baffle and extended pickup, with an N1 oil pump and Trust 16 row oil cooler and relocation kit. Man does it take some oil now!! I over filled the 1st time at the track with this and had the same messy oil probem and since have only filled to the high mark with no messy oil dramas. Do the rest of you overfillers have the same problem? I tried fixing it by putting an extra o-ring on the dipstick which helped a little but it still forced some out. I also have since fitted a Nismo air/oil separator to keep to oil out of the intake.
  8. It does look like it has had a wash. Nice looking car mate. If you need a stock 33 GTR exhaust for compliance I have one here in my garage.
  9. Yeah, I asked about the track day thing about two weeks ago. It was a no unfortunatey. Only driver training at recognised locations run by recognised instructors. The Mt Cotton venue for instance up here in Brisbane would be ok. I have had both the GTR and mini with Shannon's for the last few years. They are great to deal with.
  10. Correct, thats why I posted the circuit layouts above. As much as I would like to claim a 1:03 for the full circuit sadly its is only on the clubman layout. . .
  11. Sounds like I am in for some "fun" then. . . . . I am tempted just to get the mechanic to do it to save the headache too, but it would probably be more rewarding if I did it myself, and I would much prefer to spend those dollars on a pfc. Its the bolts under the plenum which are really bothering me. I figure if they are hard to take off they will be even harder to put back on. The oil filter relocation kit isn't helping either. . . . .
  12. What are these not so positive experiences you speak of? Remembering that is the recommended rating for a car built to be used in Japan and Japan only. Climate is a little different here to over there. . . . The added extra heat (especially up here in QLD) would usually mean using a slightly heavier oil. I use 15-50 Motul 300V but my car only comes out for fun these days, no daily driving duties any more. Before I was using Motul 4100 10-40, Castrol 10-60 sound fine for a car that gets used for general duties as well as some possible fun.
  13. Redline is the ony gearbox oil to use. Although it does look rather funky My car was crunching 3rd to 4th almost regardless of speed. It would do it putting along at 60km/h. Changed the oil to Redline and it hasn't crunched since, even at track days. . . . .
  14. I have an air leak at the rear of the plenum. Hard to say at this stage where exactly it is but it is definately audible using a little piece of tube shoved down there. At this stage I am thinking one of the gaskets on the rear throttle body or intake manifold has blown out. Anyway seeing as I have some time off over Xmas I was going to tackle this problem myself, I have the trusty R32 GTR workshop manual here and although on paper it doesn't look that difficult upon serious inspection I am a bit bothered by the lack of access to some of the bolts. Might just bite the bullet and pay someone to do it, I just got scared off by the "allow at least 10-12hrs labour" quote. Has any one here performed this task? If so is there anything I should look out for, any problems you encountered? Thanks in advance Jason
  15. Haha, the lip stays. I was actually told by the compliance guy that the fog light/indicator assembly had to be changed to the coupe version as the sedan ones weren't ADR approved Didn't really need the extra $450 cost at the time but in the end I am glad they were changed too.
  16. And the series 2 Sedan Auction pics, Grade 3.5, on a tight budjet this time was a little worried about the quality of the car. And its pretty difficult to find a turbo sedan in manual. Off the boat, just delivered to the RAWS workshop At home swapping my good bits across After the first trip to my mates panel shop And the finished product, took a little more work as the body needed some little cosmetics, but interior is perfect and mechanically it was also perfect just the paint was a little average. Very happy with the result
  17. This is a good idea! I imported 2 cars (GTR 1st then sedan 2nd) a little while ago now but still have all the pics. Phil from Direct Imported found both of my cars for me and was very happy with his work. Both my cars came in through Brisbane ports without a drama, nothing went missing. Anyway the GTR 1st Auction pics, Grade 4.5 Pics in Japan waiting to board the ship Just off the boat and delivered to the RAWS workshop Just drove the car home and parked it in the garage, couldn't wait to change the wheels And the car now 1yr 9months later and I still can't wipe the smile off my face
  18. I imported my R33 GTR. Like most things a TRUE bargain is hard to come by. I believe you have a better chance of picking up a good car at a good price locally, when I was looking there wasn't much to look at locally at all. Now there seems to be very good cars coming up almost weekly at very good prices. When I was looking I had much better choice in Japan. Just remember if your workshop does the right thing you won't get any of your mods back it will be returned to stock. Mine was one of the 1st to go through the RAWS deal so mine was definately done by the book, completely stock, and I paid a premium price. Having said that I have yet to see a cleaner example, with nothing missing and everything as is should be. . . I am a happy GTR owner and after nearly 2yrs of ownership and 30000kms still happy
