Its times like this I really hate dial up connection *hits refresh for the 6th time*
-
The wait wasn't bothering me much before, but now that I have seen it I am ready to go! Sorry no names yet, not that I have ever named a car as of yet.
-
Should be 3 weeks if everything goes well. The only possible problem (as most of the work to the car has already been completed just the reams and reams of RAWS paper work to do) is Dotars is doing a random inspection sometime soon and if they find anything wrong at all it could be considerably longer. They have already told him there will be an inspection very soon and have picked the car they are going to inspect. Not mine.

Thought I would include a few pics of the rims after they were machine polished. I am so happy with the results, they came up like brand new. And a couple of pics of other good bits I have managed to pick up along the way.

Because of the weather I didn't work today (its either too hot or too wet lately), which enabled me to get my first glimpse of my car. Even got to drive it from the carpark into the workshop cause it was pissing down. I am definately excited now. Its been a long time now (2months & 2 weeks) but to see it in the flesh definately makes it more real. I have included a few pics that I took while I was there (excuse the bonnet as its not closed). It is very tidy, it needs a good detail as all imports do when they arrive, but other than that it is very near perfect. Apart from the lower lip on the front bar, myself and the compliancer couldn't even pick a scratch. No marks/scratches on the interior, still got the original GTR floor mats in perfect condition. Even the plastics in the boot are unmarked. The underside of the car looks new also with that nice satin black finish on all the suspension bits and the all important active diff bits. All the origainal rims are perfect bar one that has a small scuff on it. I am super keen now!

That is some serious hard luck. I take that it goes without saying the guy going in the other direction didn't stop. Any witnesses? Hope the car comes back to life soon, it was a nice looking machine.

He did actually, just hung back there about 50m or so behind. I wonder if he will tell his mates that story?

Yeah I hate spending money on computers, its a worse investment than cars!

Was talking to Phil today and the GTR is now in compliance!!!! Which means if I can organise myself tomorrow I shall go down the coast for a look. Sweet! Can't wait, its all getting very close now. Its only been 2 months and 2 weeks since I purchased the car, soooo long.

It happens all the time. The good old red light grand prix. I must admit when I first got the line, nearly three years ago now, I never let any of those types of car have any satisfaction, no matter how deluded it may have been, but now I just can't be bothered. I kinda like the fact I haven't had a fine in years, and besides there is no test like taking your car to the track. Whether it be circuit, drag or skidpan thats where the real fun begins. Had a funny one tonight, had a guy pull up beside me in a VN S pack on one of those two lanes at the lights then almost instantly goes to one lane after the intersection. He had to pull out to 'take' me as I was only in a little mini after all. He soon learnt why cooper s minis had such a long racing history, 0-60km/hr, too easy, its no good to get wheel spin I am already gone. Then he tried to take me on the outside of a two lane roundabout, take a mini on a roundabout! Hopefully he learnt just how slow commonwhores are after getting whipped by a little mini, a stocker at that.

I thought I was one of the last trying to hold on to my geforce 3. I've got an Asus V8200 Deluxe and its still holding up, although its starting to show its age in the later games. Bloody thing cost me so much I just can't let go. My computer has a total of 8 fans, noisy as hell but keeps everything nice and cool.
-
Just finished washing the mini and the skyline just so I could spend most of the time standing under the hose. Was good while it lasted, might be a bit of a storm coming though, that might cool it down a bit. Time for another cold shower I think.
-
Nice pics strutto, good to see some were brave enough to go despite the conditions, unlike softies like me.

Just checkd bom.gov.au and Brisbane has hit a high of 40.7 so far. Damn its hot. Where is the nearest place that sells aircon! Fans will have to do.
-
Too hot for me I'm afraid. Look for mid 40s out there.
-
If someone just wants a back window one I have a spare they can have. If I can find it, should be just in the garage.
-
Decided it was too hot to work, although its not much cooler here at home, what to do?
-
Happy Birthday Dave, Looking forward to anonther season of Sprints! I won't be out their though till it drops at least 10 deg, Damn its hot
-
It 6:20 and I am already sweating like a pig. No rain here.
-
Jay, do you experience much dust or squeal with these pads?
-
Not a bad turnout out again, though it was a struggle for me to keep up this time. Although it wasn't all bad being last in the que, got to see Melv let a few nice flames go as he powered up the hwy.
-
I will try to come along, but just picked up some new plans, which I have to prepare to setout tomorrow, if I make good progress I will come out for a short time. I will be in the mini though so no laughing, skyline is garaged at the GF place.
-
Damn its hot! Can't believe I work outdoors, time for a career change I think. Just noticed it has just peaked at 35 deg and I couldn't help but notice they have predicted 41deg for both Saturday and Sunday! Thats just getting silly.

Where To Buy R33 GTR - Heavily Modified
jlnewton replied to IMACUL8's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ph1's car is awsome and worth every cent. Having completed the GTR search and buy thing which took over 6 months I gave up trying to buy local. In the time I was looking to buy everything I looked at wasn't worth the effort. I don't know whether my idea of a good car is different from others but every GTR I looked at under $40K stock or not I wasn't interested in. So I went the import option, spoke to numerous importers about the type of car required and the standard I expected, and not one of then said they could land a series 2+ R33 GTR V-spec for under $43K. That is the usual landed, complied, but add to that figure tyres and rego. As it ended up, my series 2 V-spec Grade 4.5 and Grade A interior landed complied rego and tyres will leave me stuff all out of $50K. Compliance under Raws is a deal more expensive than it used to be. Yes I could have got lower grade, higher mileage cars much cheaper from Japan, but if I am going to spend this money I want it to be a close to perfect as possible, and under RAWS you run the risk of it not being complied if it has accident damage like alot do in that price bracket. Add to this, the cost of the Cusco Caster arms & rear camber arms, whiteline pinapples & front camber bush, BBS rims and tyres, Apexi T-max coil-overs, DBA 4000 series rotors, various nismo "add rice" bits, Race brake pads and I am well on the way to the puchase price of PH1's car with basically no mods compared to his list. If his car had come up when I was looking I would have bought it in a second but as it stands I sure I will still be happy. Just have to pay compliace when its finished and I will have my own V-spec GTR. Can't wait! Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are genuine bargains out there in the price bracket you are talking about but a good rule is you pay for what you get. And since I am rarely lucky enough to stumble across a bargain I will pay the premuim price for a car that I know I will be happy with, even if the price scares me sometimes. -
Not sure whether they will be getting up for a spike????
