  1. Did those rotors come slotted or are they just the 4000 series with no slots?
  2. Yeah, we usually take little 2 way radios each, they are pretty good value.
  3. I am pretty keen, can't beat a cruise for a good cause through Nebo. Is anyone else a definate yet. If so are you guys keen on meeting up somewhere first or all just go staight there, I am thinking there is going to be a "few" cars there.
  4. I thought I was going to be away that weekend, but I have had a change of plans. I am certainly interested in a cruise for a good cause.
  5. Yeah, Carbies are outdated technology, but I could say with confidence, the old man has twin webbers on his car and it would take apart alot of the cars on this forum. Its old but tasty! Besides on WOT there is little difference between carby cars and injected cars, injection provides a better overall tune throughout the rev range and throttle position (when tuned correctly) therefore better power/torque curve and, more importantly for new cars, better fuel economy.
  6. How did the weekend shopping go?
  7. It should get quite warm, especially after a "spirited" drive. Even the oil cooler on the mini gets pretty warm after a short drive. Does your oil cooler setup have a thermostat? If it does, maybe that isn't working properly????
  8. Nice work, let us know how you go with the bank. Where did you find it?
  9. I am always in for a cruise, I was a regular at the Wed night test'n'tunes and QLD sprint days but have given that away during the warmer months. There were some good turnouts at the test'n'tunes and sprint days and the last gt run was huge. I am not real big for situations that attract unwanted attention (haven't lost any points for over three years and want to keep it that way) but a local meetup place(s) is a good idea. Once the temperature starts to fall I will be a regular at the track again so if there is a regular group that wants to meet for cruises out there would be good or just meet up out there.
  10. Unfortunately I chickened out as it was so hot, looks like I should have come out. Oh well there is always next time. Pics look good.
  11. Manual or Auto?
  12. Saw a white 33 GTR on the Centenary Hwy on Saturday about 2ish in the arvo. It was hot! Had a vented carbon bonnet with some very serious looking pins, white wheels (couldn't tell what type on the move), very low, dark tint, NSW plates, a piece of alloy or stainless above the exhaust on the rear bar, a couple of pillar pods. Thats about all I could pick, looked and sounded very serious, never seen it before, anyone from here?
  13. I could probably be talked into that, I had better check that I have nothing else on first though.
  14. I had a good look around Brisbane and there really wasn't much to look at. Well during the 6 months that I was looking around, especially in that price bracket. You definately will not find any in yards for that price they are all $40+K. In that price range make sure you really look the car over, as you are in accident repair area, unless you are lucky enough to find a good cheapie. This one is worth a look if you can get to it before he trades it in definately no accident damage here. It pretty much fits your criteria and I have driven this one myself, very nice. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=24847 Might be worth sending supahiro27 a PM I think he has one (or two) for sale at the moment. This one may also be worth a look although it doesn't really fit your requirements. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...6&highlight=GTR
  15. Yeah slip, that is the plan. It won't be quite that simple though as the BBS rims are a larger diameter than the stock GTR rims but I think I have the solution. I definately wanted two sets of rims this time, one for road one for track, as the last tyres on the GTST only lasted 10months and that was only 2 trips to the track. NOT COOL.
  16. I will be a definate. The last skidpan was great, have been hanging for the next one.
  17. Well, the wait continues. My car somehow managed to miss its ship. It should leave on the 30th of Jan now and arrive in Oz on the 12th Feb. Not too happy about that situation but what can you do. It almost seems like it will never turn up. On a brighter note, my 18"x9.5" BBS rims turned up today. I am hoping they will look the goods on the GTR, what do you guys think? I original plan was to get a set of Bronze Volk TE37s but these came up at a good price so I bit the bullet and got them. Certainly cost me less then a new set of Volks! edit: plus a pic of some other goodies I have collected over the last couple of months. The car better turn up soon, the wait is sending me broke!
  18. A couple of my mates used to live on the Gold Coast Hwy at Palm beach. One had a 2001 lancer which he bought new while living their. He had it rustproofed as part of the deal when he bought it and till now hasn't had a problem. The other guy had a blue bird which was is in ok condition but when he moved to the coast turned into a rust bucket in about 2 years. He also bought a lancer in 2001, a 94 model 4dr and again within 2 yrs there was huge amounts of rust coming through the roof and other panels. When you live that close to the coast any extra protection against rust is a good thing I think.
  19. All done, looks pretty tidy. Everything fits beautifully, the only thing I think that could improve this is a 90 deg bend to come off the rocker cover, either a hydraulic type metal bend or a pre-bent pipe like I ended up using. Its a peice of Gemini heater hose would you believe (I knew that would come in handy one day!). Just enables you to keep the pipes going where you want them to go and therefore looking tidier. Here is a pic on a R33 GTST for those who want to know.
  20. From the album: jlnewton's Gallery

The kit is from GT-spec15 in the for-sale section, very nice bit of kit.
  21. Jay beat me again. Nice bit of kit, just contemplating to best route for the pipes at the moment. Again nice bit of gear, don't forget when the R33 GTR kit is ready let me know.
  22. I have the same brake setup as you with the dba 4000 slotted rotors fr&r and the ultimate pads. I have yet to notice any real fade yet at the track up at Queensland Raceway. The 7 lap sprints we do have yet to show fade so I am happy with that. I am not pushing as much power as you. I am sure if you go to the track as, Roy said, you would take longer to notice fade with all the high speed stuff in between, but I am sure after 20 laps they would be feeling the strain.
  23. mmmm, just found this thread, Merli you are a classic. There are a lot a conflicting views here, and although glad to here know one was hurt, anyone who says they couldn't see that coming is kidding themselves. I agree, I have done my fair share of stupid stuff but when I was it was in a 998cc mini which took about 1/2 an hour to get to 100k. Driving a car as powerful as a GTR takes a hell of a lot more responsibility and if you don't have it you shouldn't drive one, as you can see the results. Besides you have to expect to be flamed a little when you have stirred as many people as you have with some of your posts.
  24. You must have sent yours exactly the same time as I sent mine Jay! I also expect mine on Monday, Tuesday. I will post some pics when I get it in for those interested in how it looks on a 33.
  25. I agree here, I went to change the water pump on mine the other day, took one look at the radiator and put into the "I will do that tomorrow basket". I have seen a couple with the suzuki 1.3 engine out of the GTi, even without a turbo it was good for flat 14s, high 13s. Or there is that twin cam 16 valve head form the UK by "KAD engineering??", that a pretty nice conversion if you have the $$$ and are happy with the A-series bottom end from the 50s! Keep us updated, interested to see what combination you end up with and how you go about it, and the results of course!
