In my 33 I find that 3000rpm and not dropping the clutch just letting it out works best for me. My 60ft times are ok considering I am using road tyres with 36psi. Can't bring myself to let them down yet.

Micheal - New sway bar and new tyres, very impressive, not to mention the full service. What rubber did you end up going for? Don't know about this weekend, I have an assignment due Monday which I still haven't started, and Saturday is already a write off. There is a road, I can't quite remember, out past Woodforde that cuts back through Mt Mee and ends up near Samford I think. It was very tight. Dad used to take me up there in the mini when I was learning to drive. Gotta love dad's style, learning to drive mountain run style! I probably have been up to Mt Glorious, in fact I am sure of it, it just so long ago I can't remember the road. Grandparent live in Lismore, there used to be lots of great mountain runs around there but most of those roads have been upgraded since then with all of those bypasses and stuff.

I was just comparing terminal speeds with the temperature and it show some interesting things ie; Temperature (deg C).............Terminal Speed (mph) 17.......................................96.32 16.......................................96.67 16.......................................97.28 15.......................................97.11 14.......................................97.30 13.......................................98.08 I wonder what the KW increase is for every 1 degree drop in temperature?

Another great night. Managed to slice .35 sec of my previous best to get a 14.181 @ 96.67 with a 2.162 6ft. Quite happy with that considering I was still running 36psi in the tyres, can't bring myself to let them down yet. Alot of familar faces out there too. Can't wait till the next Wed test'n'tune!

Went for a bit of a Mountain Run on Mt Nebo with 46n2 last night. Not a bad stretch of road, some nice challenging sections, might have to make an appearance at the next Mad mountain run. Looks like heaps of fun. Any other recommendations for places for a good mountain run?

I will be there in November

suspension, what to go for if i do it?
jlnewton replied to DJ_L3ThAL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sound like a excellent kit. Your car will feel totally different when it is all done. If you are like me you will just go for the lot, then spend the next 12 months paying it off while crying poor! Car will drive really nice though. -
The Whiteline bushes probably represent best value if you require these adjustable bits. They are adjustable bushes. I have the whiteline adjustable camber bush at the front and works quite well and was easy to fit. Just a bit of a bastard to adjust during the alignment process. I put Cusco Adj caster rods at the front and the Cusco Adj camber upper arms for the rear as these offered greater adjustment range. Besides this, they look cool! The prices for the Whiteline stuff can be found on their page. Cusco or JIC bits are best priced from Takas, I think Greenline and Nengun could do these aswell. Cusco and JIC are quite $$$ though, but very high quality.

That's insane!, I did my renewal last month and it was $683. I cannot believe how much it goes up every year. The CTP would be included in the $722. Why can't we register the same way as NSW, by weight, would be much more fair.

Just wondering if there was an update Dave. I was talking to Steve today, just checked if he knew anything and he said it had all been agreed too, just awaiting confirmation. Still waiting for confirmation from the police Dave? Cheers Jason

Project 12sec R33 GTST Daily Driver
jlnewton replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
4doorz from Queensland just ran a 12 in his black 4dr R33. It was a [email protected] with a 2.045 60ft time. Quite impressive considering the limited mods. Mods include FMIC, full 3in exhaust, Power FC, Pod filter with cold air box, 235/40 R18 Federal tyres at 25psi, DIY boost controller, Heavy Duty clutch. The rest is reportedly stock. Not a bad effort. I saw him run a 13.2 on the Wed night test and tune at Willowbank, then on the Saturday Test'n'Tune broke into the 12s. Not a bad effort. Not sure what boost he was running, he did tell me just can't remember. Also ran [email protected], 1.988 60ft on the Saturday aswell. I think a good result on such limited mods. -
Federals are good in the DRY. In the wet it is like driving on ice! Pretty impressive times there, so you did crack the 12, very nice. In fact that is very impressive considering the limited mods. Might have to invest in a full exhaust and a PFC I think.

I will be at the next one for sure. Need practice to get consistant launches. Ignoring the last run where I gave it way too much off the line, I was getting about 2.3 60ft times which can be improved on I think. I didn't let any pressure out of the tyres though, so running 36psi probably doesn't help. Judging by my best terminal speed of 96.8 mph not sure I can improve my time by too much though. Time for some HP mods me thinks. Check here for some info on RNS11Z s car http://www.rigoliracing.com.au/r33gts-t.html Bit of a unit you got there mate!

I'm officially hooked. So busy tonight. I think I shall make that a regular occurance, lots of fun, even if I was one of the slowest amongst the skylines. At least I beat a rex. Gotta work on those launches. Cyas all there next time!

I saw a white 33 with 400R front bar and carbon fibre bonnet on the big roundabout around the Ford dealership on Moggil Rd at about 12:30pm. Very nice, wanted to get a closer look at that bonnet. Anyone from here own that.

GTR Guards and Quarter on a GTS-25t
jlnewton replied to DESCR8's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I am certain the front guards are a bolt on affair, or at least very easy, but the rear guards require alot of work to fit. Alot of cutting, welding and bogging from what I hear. And is quite hard to get a flawless finish. Checkout the JMS 33, it had had this work done to it. Maybe you could email them for a bit of info. Or Skyline Imports up here in QLD does this type of work a bit, you could ask them. They have recently finished a replica 4 door skyline GTR. -
I should be there, I am prepaid from last time when it got rained out.

Hey CYA34, Saw you cruising the esplanade at about 2:10pm. Not too many 34 s getting around with a wild vented bonnet like that. I was heading the other way in my white 33 and gave you guys the thumbs up. Would have come out for a cruise but I had a going away BBQ for a friend to attend at that time. Plenty of cars about though, with a good % of lines. See ya round.

suspension, what to go for if i do it?
jlnewton replied to DJ_L3ThAL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Never priced koni s, but you can get the Bilsteins for under a grand front and rear which leaves the springs which are about 300 ish. The Koni shocks do have the advantage of being adjustable if you are that way inclined. You could buy a spring compresser from Repco for $45 and do it yourself. Then you only have to pay for the wheel alignment afterwards. Its pretty easy, just a little time consuming which is why labour costs can be a little rich. -
suspension, what to go for if i do it?
jlnewton replied to DJ_L3ThAL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Go for a quality set of shocks like Bilstein or Koni, and some nice lowered springs like king springs or Whiteline and it will ride nice and handle well. Should set you back $1200-$1300ish. Not sure how low you can go, I would probably settle for 30mm lower. Check the Whiteline site for different options and prices. -
I am keen this time around, if there is going to be enough spots available that is!
-
Bilsteins are an excellent shock. You will get an improvement in handling with these shocks and standard springs but eventually I would get some decent springs to match, eg whiteline springs or king springs.

Nolathane Bushes
jlnewton replied to nismoman18's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If they are at the front, they sound like nolathane caster bushes, a good replacement for the OEM ones that are soft and tend to leak. Alot do have adjustment and they are easy to adjust but I wouldn't. Just take it to a good wheel alignment guy and tell him what you want to do, any alteration to suspension geometry will affect another part and you don't want to scub out your tyres. I doubt it its camber adjustment, if it is you will see above the wheel on the top/outer wishbone joint thingy. Mine is a yellow bush with a weird nut bolt assembly, which is the adjustment. The adjustable caster bush should look like the pic, the colour of the bush might be different.http://www.uniqueautosports.com/Images%202...2/rad%20rod.jpg -
Yeah I tried to use white t-cut on a couple of little scratches on my line and it did nothing. Don't waste your money. I bought an electric buffer a few weeks ago and they are magic. Doesn't do it any quicker but it definately takes all the hard work out of it. Still need to do the tricky areas by hand though. I used the 3 step Meguires stuff, a bit dear but very good. Hell, it even managed to put a shine on my Gemini Panelvan!
