Sounds like the Autronics dosen't do a bad job of things... What the point of having big cams if you get similar power from smaller cams?
-
I run 1.3 bar and just found out my cams lift is 10.2
-
OK, here is the update. I rang my tuner, benno. Firstly my biggest problem is the cams at 280 in & Ex with 10.2 lift are way too big. He has explained this to me before thats why I was looking at other options. He seggested the Tomei Poncams 260 in & ex with 10.25 to replaced my cams. He has just finished a car with a similar turbo to my own which is a T04Z & it produced 400awkw. Mine is at the 412awkw mark atm so not too far off. Secondly, no point in installing a O2 sensor as he can get better fuel consumption with this turned off & completly running in open loop. He has got be be a gun tuner for this, as I believe most tuners need closed loop to get good fuel economy. I asked about the twin nossle injectors & they would help but only buy them if you were buying injectors anyway. Makes more sense now. BTW I'm running the Autronic SMC ver 1.92 My only problem is if I change my cams, I will need a re-tune. My tuner is in Melbourne and I'm up here in Sunny Queensland..... Might need a few 20L jerry cans in the boot to make the trip hehehe

Spot on rob82! This is exactly what happens with big cams. Have to find a happy medium
-
Oh, what lift are you runing currently? Not sure what lift I am running.... have to find out. hmmmm, now have to think about cams :wizard:
-
Your not wrong with fuel prices, crazy stuff. Love to try, but as SK as said big cams and runnning lean can stuff your valves. The last thing I want to do is damage something, I would only try if it was safe to do so. BTW, I'm running a built engine, forges and the rest with a Garrett T04Z turbo
-
Thanks SK!! I'II be doing exactly that, talking to my tuner, thanks for the insight. At least now we know why they do these type of things, like not running closed loop as such. I also noticed that my target A/F ratio at light loads are at 14.0. Between my cams (280), the 272 or the 264's - would there be much power differences?
-
Thats awsome pete :uh-huh: 400 - 500km out of a 397rwkw car is fantastic. I wonder if I would cause any damage if I enable the closed loop operation & or open loop lean highway mode on the Autronics? I'II need an O2 sensor as well....hmmm I wonder if there would be any difference?
-
Thanks for that R31Nismoid, he said my cams are too big. With 280 camshaft sizes, they don't run well at light loads. I didn't doubt him when he said this as it made logical sense but there is no harm in trying to look for more ways of getting better effiency. What camshaft size would you recommand? Wish I was getting 370km out of my tank.....hmmm 370km very nice I can't beleive benno can get 10L per 100km out of his car on the highway...... wow!!! thats around 500km out of a tank from a 500awkw car RB31.... his the man :Pimp2: BTW he is only using baby cams, not sure of what size though

I've looked at my fuel maps on the ECU which is an Autronics. The target A/F ratios at light loads is 14.0:1. My tuner says that due to my cam size I get bad fuel economy as they are out of their effiency range... I have also looked at my closed loop operation and this has been disabled in the ECU and I have no O2 sensor connected. I asked my tuner about this and he say's that if your tune is perfect there is no need to go to closed loop for the A/F ratio correction which is what closed loop is all about. Wonder what this is all about? I also noticed "open loop lean highway setting" which has been disabled.... wonder what this is? So I've been looking at ways to get better economy via:- 1. twin hole injectors instead of single hole injectors - twin hole being better at light loads. 2. closed loop operation - which has been disabled 3. open loop lean highway - this is in the Autronics just under the closed loop operation. Any suggestions about any of this.........

Here is my situation.... I have Blitz 1000cc injectors in my engine (RB26) and they are single nossel type injector. I only get 250km out of my tank, and there is hardly any difference between city and highway driving. I was hoping that changing the injectors from a single nossel type to a twin nossel type would help my economy, what do you think? I found out some prices: Power Enterprise injectors 1000cc twin hole type $1400 Sard 800cc twin hole type $645 Major price difference!!! Has anybody got any insight on the difference between injector brands? This is more in reference to spray patterns, do some brands spray better then others? Any information would really help me out. Thanks guys!! (Oh, I've already tried searching and searching.....nudda)

I'm guessing that for fuel to atomise better, the finer the spray or should I say the finer the mist of spray, it will atomise better. Fuel pressure would not have anything to do with this aspect, I think. So in larger injectors they can have multiple sprays to makeup for the effiency. I just checked mine and they are single spray units..... If I change them to something with multiple spray units, then do you thing I might get better effiency? Thanks MsG_ChRiS... don't I sound the winger!

Sounds real nice!!!

I know this place is in Melbourne but they might be able to arrange shipping. I have seen shipping for @$10 each tyre. As you can see the prices are really good. Here is the link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=51352

Exhaust Diameter For High Powered RB26
WetGTR replied to Shaun's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yep your right R31Nismoid! Ben did tell me that the exhaust system is becoming a restrictive point in my system. I'm now in the process of installing a HKS Super Dragger Muffler which is 3.5" and will have my EXT Gate vent to amto. Wanted to go a 4" system but when you have the 3.5" HKS Muffler but sitting there doing nothing at my brothers place (was to be a future project of a Supra) , thought I use that and see what the results are. I can tell you that atm I have 412awkw with a 3" system, then if the ext gate vents to atmo, I get 417awkw. I hope the 3.5" system takes my power levels a little further. I will post up the results once completed. -
I'II take a 040 pump now please. Let me know the arrangments.

I'm running HKS 1000cc Injectors......too big? I understand that larger injectors are not as efficienct, or should I say control over say smaller ones. Still couldn't my AFR be improved for highway use say on light loads or maybe a closed loop operation or how about a whole new map that I can just zap in using a laptop. When I want it back to normal I can just re-zap it. Am I just chasing my tail or should I just put up and shut up and be happy with everything.......who dosen't want to have everything! :headspin:
-
Hi there Cubes, Would my AFR be contributing to what I believe is bad fuel economy? Spoke to Ben at Racepace today about my fuel economy, he said Big Cams (Step 2 280)on my engine means that its out of its efficiency range on the freeway. Couldn't I have a setting where it could lean out or something on the Autronics when it sensors highway use to go into an economy mode on light loads or something?
-
The Lambda sensor sends the results to the Dyno Computer. With this reading they can work out the AFR. Here is a picture of a Dyno read out with the AFR on them. BTW I hate my fuel economy, only @250km per tank, really sucks!! Wish I could get @350 per tank.......mmmmmm 350 per tank
-
I think he means that there is no AFR readings on you Dyno report. The Lamba readings are only what the sensor registered back to the Dyno Computer but there is no graph on AFR
-
Must admit I do have a thing for EVO's & WRX's. They are the only other cars that I like. I guess the GTR, I believe has more potential when all factory problems are addressed. I do agree that the RB 26 has some design faults that should have been adressed from factory.
-
Where do you have to go to register for the Autosalon Competitions? I wouldn't mind entering my car
-
Show me a better value for performance, handling, 4WD, track, curcuit, drag, street car out there and I'II buy it......

i am purchasing a guard roller. just seeing if there is much demand for it

I'm interested! What can you provide as a guarantee that the paint won't crack, damage the panel or any thing else. I'm sure some other people here would like their rides done but would like some assurance that they will receive a professional job.
