  1. In the market for an R34 turbo coupe. Prefer auto (might consider manual). I've been shopping for an R34 4 door and found a couple - one negotiated to $14,500 one to $15,000. But now the wife (who wanted a 4 door) claims the 4 door is ugly and said I can get a coupe (WTF!). Anyway I realise they comand a slight premium over the 4 door so if you have one for sale let me know. I'm a very serious buyer, money is all ready and willing to put down a deposit straight away. Reply here, PM or email. Thanks
  2. I can't believe people are bagging out Boxter's - I'd love to own one and at $50K they are not out of many peoples reach. The handling is amazing, the power figure isnt huge but the car is light and nimble with a great gearbox so they are quick anyway. As for 350Z (can anyone say overpriced and slow) or WRX's ect getting more respect - pfft maybe to 16 year old boys who spend to much time blowing their loads over the Hot 4's magazine - in the real world I don't think so.
  3. I cant believe you are 18 and have had three accidents already and you are claiming none were your fault - obviosuly there is a common denominator to the accidents - i.e. you. I've been on the road for 10 years and never had a single accident. Some poeple need to learn how to control a car...
  4. You would be crazy to pay a premium like that for an NA R34. As has been said you are way better off buying something else for the time being until you build up a driving history and then the insurers will give you a better price on the Skyline. It dosn't have to be a shitta of a car either - there are plenty of cars for $20K and under that you would get insurance for - just an example but what about a BA Falcon XR6 (N/A) (easy find one under $20K) - damn nice car for a 17 year old, cheap insurance and pretty quick as well. Plenty of other cars to choose from as well that have already been mentioned.
  5. I agree with you - lot of sugar coating in this thread. Why can't ppeople tell it like it is? If you put stickers down the side of your car, I, (along with probably 95% of the population) will laugh my ass of at you. I am being honest. I am not going to BS and say "do what you like it is your car" touchy feely BS. Then when you rev your non-perfomance car at me at the lights I will giggle and take off on one eighth throttle and still beat you. Rice is a plague that needs to be eradicated. EDIT - and one more thing, people keep saying chicks dig hot cars and will have sex with you bla bla bla in this thread. Err no......... that is your 17 year old pre-pubsecent fantasies shining through.
  6. - I dislike the "Ban low performance drivers not high perfromance cars" quote as it implies that owning a high perfromance car makes you a high performance driver which most of us know is BS. - Secondly a few people are harping on about how Skylines have more safety features than Commodores. WTF? I am no Commodore lover but a high powered RWD Skyline of which the majority are now 15 years old, with no ESP, Traction Control, airbags, ABS or rigid current crash testing regimes is, I am afraid to say, not safer than your average Commodore/ Falcon which has all of these features. The only safety feature the Skyline has is lower weight and bigger brakes therefore faster stopping power. - The solution? I agree with the power limits set by the RTA for P platers - Bike riders have had these restrictions for years and they are proven to work. What I would like to see is compulsary proffesional RTA training for L platers at an RTA testing centre, none of this mum will teach me to drive and pass on all her bad habits caper that currently takes place.
  7. To be fair this is 1 driver out of 2500 STA drivers - kind of like saying all Skyline drivers are hoons becasue one got caught doing 100 in a school zone dont you think?
  8. RIGHT HAND R33 DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR!!!!!!
  9. no they didn't - they quoted Holdens times.
  10. I agree to that to different people it means different things but to me if a buyer starts talking price before looking at the car it shows that they actually have the cash to buy the thing - it would worry me more if there was no mention of price as they probably just want a joy ride. If I make an offer then view the car and it is crap then I will simply withdraw my offer - no cash has been placed down yet. I also agree with azurra that to offer $10K is ridiculous on an $18K car. $1K discount is very realistic, $2K is fine to ask, $3K is pushing it, above $3K discount is rude. Well thats my GENERAL rules anyway.
  11. I question how many cars people have actually bought and sold who are flaming this guy. $13K is not an unreasonable offer for a $15K car. I have bought many cars, always have the cash ready to go and I always make an offer before looking at the car, as I know what I want. Why would a buyer waste their time going and looking at multiple cars if he dosnt know wether the seller will negotiate or not? What I really hate is the whiners trying to sell claiming the market is dead - its not dead, your prices are usually too high. Selling a car is a matter of pricing it correctly.
  12. Definatlety option 3
  13. Err they are (except for the fwd part)! Well non-turbo ones anyway. Though the turbo SE is still only a 15 second car. He must have had some work done to it.
  14. If you go on the Commonwealth Banks website there is a calculator that you plug your wage, living expenses, ect into to and it tells you how much you can borrow. *DISCLAIMER - borrowing for cars is bad.
  15. If your really set on the car and that price ($1000 for on road costs for a used car - its this just a VIC thing??) - also you can generally knock at Lleast $1-2K off car yard prices when bargaining. Anyway I don't think the problems you listed are that bad. - Insecure passenger seat - tighten bolts. - Pull to the left - $30 wheel alignment - New cat converter - meh not a big deal. - Oil leak - expected on an old skyline and if he's fixing the gasket for free then why worry about it. My biggest worry would be the odo reading 2,300kms, obviously swapped dash, who knows what the kays are really like. On that basis alone I would be very wary of this deal.
  16. how the feck did you pass your driving test if you don't know what an ornage light means is what i want to know!
  17. When I was in Year 12 ( almost 10 years ago) i used to rock up in a mid 80's Toyota Crown Royal Saloon (coomplete with factory fridge). No one cared what car you owned, fact was you had a car the rest of the "peasents" were on the bus.
  18. Why would you need 5 cars? 5 vehicles on the other hand... I'd take 3 cars, 2 bikes. Lamborghini Gallardo - for whenever the need arises. BMW M5 - Daily Driver R34GTR - Track Days Kawasaki ZX10R - Sport orientated riding and Track Days. Honda VTR1000 - Touring.
  19. Let me get this straight - you got caught drink driving and you were more than 3 times over the limit and somehow the cops are dicks.......Ok....yep..hmmmm...
  20. Because your 12.8 was assisted by your AWD. Take that out of the equation - i.e. a rolling start - and the Typhoon may leave you behind. I said MAY - I wanna watch
  21. Insurance for one thing - I was quoted $1200 for an F6 a GTR was over $4000. Also New Car Factory warranty is important to some. I don't think you can compare the two cars though - they are completley different. The F6 with the ZF 6-speed is an awesome car but not quicker than a GTR. Then again it is not designed to be, it is a big, comfy cruiser, with massive pace when you want it. It won't outhandle an AWD Skyline but it is surprisingly good steer for a large RWD sedan. 11/12's are easily obtainable for about $1500 outlay.
  22. All good points - of course i agree that the GTR is the superior vehicle, all i'm getting at is you can only compare a new car with a new car in the same price bracket and a used car to a used car in the same price bracket, which (i think) you seem to agree on anyway  as per the original post though on wether aussie performance cars have caught up with the jap manufacturers i still think the answer is yes - not because the aussies have done anythign wizz bang, mainly because the japs have dropped all their performance cars! A Clubsport or F6 (approx $60K) outperform the jap opposition 350z ($60k) and RX8 ($60K) easily the only jap contender left is the Sti which hands them all their arses on a plate - but once again the sti is a purpose built sports car, the aussies are all pumped up family cars.
  23. he he he - im going to play devils advocate as well How much does a GTR Z tune cost - over $100K right? An F6 Typhoon costs $60K. A stock one on fordforums.com.au has run a 13.2 quarter. Now put the spare $40K (to meet the price of the GTR) of mods into it and see which is the quicker car. Everyone is still talking used cars here as well - why would someone in the market for a new XR6T even consider a 15 year old skyline? They are just not the same type of buyer - What NEW car does Nissan produce that would outperform a Clubsport or XR6T which come with 3 year warranties from the manufacturer? The reason people dont go out a buy an R34 GTR as someone said is because they have no warranty and insurance is a nightmare.
