Skyline R33 Gts-t Hks Gt2835 Pro S Vs Sti
DrewII replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
and you are from canberra. consider BD4s in sydney they have done this skyline http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2923/article.html without spending big $$$ on forged internals. don't listen to people in these forums if they say its not possible to make over 300kw without redoing bottom end. BD4s would know they do this shiit for a living. just a though for your intention of reaching big power figures at a lower cost. i really think however you need to sort out your tyre setup. those Toyo RA-1s are 500 bucks a pop and well worth it from what iv read. read some reviews online people using them for autocross and other events. getting a good 10000 kilomotres on them hard driving too. they heat up real fast super sticky but last much much longer than people think for a semi slick street legal tyre. -
Skyline R33 Gts-t Hks Gt2835 Pro S Vs Sti

sorry for late response to this thread. but here is an interesting video on youtube. and on shitty tyres. 340kw. overtaking evo's on the straight and keeping up on the corners. i have also seen a track race video on youtube in japan with 6 cars. 5 of them GTR one of them GTS-t all of them heavily modified and the GTS-t came second. so really. buy some Toyo RA-1 semi slick street legal track tyres. they hook up in first gear even with over 300kw as long as you don't force it too hard. pineapples, coilovers etc etc. and practice launching. i reckon those guys with those STis are full of shiet. evidence above speaks for itself. -
yeh fair enough ill take your advice. might look to other countries in the mean time and take some holidays there to japan seems like the smarter choice.

gees it sounds a lot tougher than i thought. you are right my skills here will be put to better use. its the experience im after but it seems like it will be far too difficult or too much of a hassle to make it work. language being the main issue. im used to working unpaid overtime here anyway. it is expected in a firm. as we work on salaries. but bonuses are based on our performance and if we keep things under budget we can earn a bonus. a lot of the work i do to keep jobs under budget i run into overtime to do so. p.s. LOL at European background. It seems to me that only people whose origins lie east of Austria use that one you're quite wrong. im not from the east im croatian/italian heritage. main culture in my house hold italian. i speak fluent italian. italy is in europe. but italy does not interest me at all. i might visit japan first go on a holiday there or speak to people at work see if others have done the same via a european or american company with a branch in japan. i am sure there are western branches in japan with a high level of western employees. subsidiary companies in japan would need western employees. it sounds a lot more difficult than i originally thought tho. interesting to hear all your views

hey guys iv been trying to research working in japan for a couple months now. iv sent messages through some employment agencies with recruitment services in japan but they havent replied to me. nor do i know anyone who lives there that can give me a straight answer or my chances of employment in japan. im a 23 year old aussie with european background. my culture here in australian is very much european. europe therefore does not interest me as far as moving overseas for a life experience. its relaly something im used to here. i want to go work in japan. i am an accountant with a bachelors degree in commerce and a CA (chartered accountant) fully qualified with experience in big 4 accounting firm. i know its easy for me to find work in america, europe, england and places like dubai in the middle east. but what would my chances be like in the corporate world of japan? do you guys know any gaijin accountants working in japan by any chance at all? i have absolutely no japanese speaking ability would this disable my chances of finding work in the corporate world of japan or should i have a fairly easy chance of finding work. this isnt a country for me to live permanently i want to travel with my occupation as its easy to do so but in japan im not so sure i want to experience the craziness, the cars, the culture, the action and earn money with my CA skills whilst im over there. either in a chartered firm? or a company? is this fairly easy with someone from the western world with a world wide recognised qualification? or would they strictly prefer locals to employ due to their language ability. cheers

Times Run 0 - 100 In R33 Gtst
DrewII replied to cliff25gtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i think 0-100 time is a good thing to post. on the street you dont have the room to run quarter mile runs. but you do have the room between lights to hit 100km/h if your car does it in 5 seconds or less. im getting my gtech on tuesday my car r33 gts-t 17psi, lightweight racing alloys, excellent tyres, and other supporting mods, no subwoofers or amps. will be interesting to see how quick she is after seeing all your posts -
Can My Car Benefit From Larger Rims?
DrewII replied to DrewII's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
good news i took the skyline to bob Jane t mart today and had two Maxxis MA-V1 tyres fitted to the rear they are 255/40 also noticed when took off old tyres completely worn on the inside. had wheel balance and rear adjustment. now there is zero loss of traction in first gear at all!!!??? very happy the guy mentioned the next tyres up were dunlops same ones used for the M5 BMW but for extra 100 dollars you cant even tell the difference. i paid 250 for each rear tyre and im more than happy with the handling, low road noise, and excellent traction. -
i think the dullness also occurs from the moisture on the inside of the lights? or not?

Can My Car Benefit From Larger Rims?
DrewII replied to DrewII's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
hey mate thanks for sharing. i do have tein adjustable coil overs, havent touched the camber im the first owner in australia so im not sure exactly what has been done in the way of camber (i will look into it though) looking at my tyre wear though does seem to be fairly even. and the car has new bushes (done in japan) and yeh the p1s. but i think will look into camber just to make sure the tyres are touching the floor evenly. -

its on the street. im not a freak on the road. i have only had the car for 5 months and im learning to control the twin plate clutch which came with the car not easy and ill admit takes a lot of practice at first even trying to move the car but whats the point with having power when your standing on the same spot with your wheels spinning. i can control my foot off the line but after about 4 thousand rpm when boost is kicking they spin on the spot. i will look into some of the other points you made about suspension and camber because that is something i havent looked into so far. what psi you recommend? -
Can My Car Benefit From Larger Rims?
DrewII replied to DrewII's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
oh ok well just went outside to have a look had a browse on the net too the largest the p1s come in are 17 x 9 i went downstairs to have a look at mine and i measured the width was about 9 inches wide so they must be 17x9. the tyre on them at the moment is 245/45/17 and i inquired as to a better tyre and the comments i had from a couple places was the tyres i have on it at the moment are the most expensive and soft street tyres i can get. theyre yokohama advan something. the next option for tyre set up was some light track racing but street legal tyres such as the Toyo RA1s which have the same tread pattern as one of their drag radials only they are street legal. 500 dollars each. i guess its not that expensive only the rubber on moderate driving will last around 10k kms. hard driving who knows. but they are a much softer compound. maybe that is the go for me with my traction problem. -

so your saying get two new rims just for the back? 18x10? sorry i dont know if i caught you properly do you suggest me keeping 17s on the front and just getting two rear ones 18s? will that look alright? because thats a good idea if it is the case. -
Can My Car Benefit From Larger Rims?
DrewII replied to DrewII's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
yeh i didnt think of that. ill inquire in some rubber that is wider than what i have now i think that might do the trick. -
hey everyone thought i would start off by posting a pic of my car. i currently have the buddy club P1s in gunmetal with some good 245 yokohama advan ruber on the rear. only thing im not happy with is traction. these P1s from my understanding are a lightweight racing alloy. good for the track. but bad off the line. even when the tyres have warmed up a bit first gear the traction is really bad. i have the turbo boosted to about 14psi with bigger fuel pump intercooled, zorst. my question could i benefit perhaps by purchasing bigger rims? say 19", 20" ? will this improve my traction obviously because there is a larger wheel base more rubber will be on the floor. i have tein adjustable coil overs which i can adjust if need be to get more of the rubber on the floor. or will the tyres and wheels be too heavy for any benefit at all? what do people think? anyone experienced with enlarging their rims and gaining better traction?

mine does the exact same thing. at low revs. i have a twin plate clutch though. theyre tradtionally very noisy things. and its the plates and the disc that sits in the middle thats moving and virbating and making the noise. nothing to be worried about IMO

Help: Pioneer Deh 6850mp Head Unit Face Wont Open
DrewII replied to DrewII's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
thanks a lot dude. i will give this a go i think you have fixed my problem. -
i have disconnected an old kenwood double din head unit from my car. and connected my pioneer DEH 6850MP from my old lancer into the skyline. it works fine. only problem is the face wont open when i click to try and enter a CD. moreso when the car switches off the face used to open automatically as a safety feature for me to remove and take it with me. this also isnt happening. when i click on the open button it makes a sound and when the car switches off the security release begins but it feels like the motor is caught or something and just doesnt open. have i buggered up the wiring? is there a reset feature? or is my head unit broken? should also note i have the IPOD adaptor connected to my ipod into the head unit. Not sure if this will effect it at all somehow. the ipod adaptor is working fine. i can search songs through the head unit etc etc. only the face will not open? anyone know what is wrong? thanks
-
sorry its a 98 r33 gts-t. yes was double din before. i just imported it and it came with a double din cd/MD player. now installed my old head unit and have a large gap in between head unit and air con controls. i might get a standard pocket. has anyone got a link to a photo of one of these in a car already?
-
got this really ugly gap showing between my head unit and the air con controls. big space in between. are there covers of some sort available for this situation? or are people just leaving it. cheers
