  1. Happy Hunting.....
  2. Yes time will tell...... will be VERY interesting to see the new law's
  3. a Copy of the email i recieved from geoff after i spoke to him RE: stolen items (due to personal listings about my vehicle some parts have been edited..Loz) Re: items inside cars, we try to choose the best option at the time. We hate things going missing as much as anyone else. I'm not sure what I said to you at the time but we do often offer postage of items if requested. It costs about $150 to $220 for most items, so many times we choose to hide them in the car instead and this proves quite successful. Where the item would be broken or made inoperative through removal, or there is not enough slack on the wiring to hide it successfully, it is obviously left as is. Other times, the supplier simply has no time to remove items, hell, many of them ship 300 cars a month. It's all very well people saying "I do it so our service must be better than his" and "go talk to my mate, he'll find you a car", and "I can do it for you, I find my own", but let's see them locate the volume of vehicles that we do and then check their record of happy customers. It will be somewhat different to what they promise. Cheers Geoff
  4. Good stuff ylwgtr .....
  5. hmmm... i thought i saw a quick shot of a skyline in the background of a shot.... could be wrong tho..... Loz
  6. It might cost a bit, and there might be on going fee's... let us know if that's the case. I've heard good thing's about the "Boomerang" range of Alarms... That's what im going to get ...... Loz
  7. Good point, next time i do this then ill ask for things like that to be taken out. Really it doesn't matter too much as it is easy to repair, and it needed to be converted over, so in the grand scheme it's a small price to pay as the conversion will cost the most. I think it's up to the dealers in Japan, whether they will go to the extent of pulling thing's apart and sending them off. Really (I think) there should be more policing of the Wharf and liability for things damaged/stolen if it happens to cars....where does it stop???. But you raise a good point .... I cant speak on Geoff's behalf, so i wont. But next time, I will enquire about things like that. Loz
  8. I had no problem's with the importing of my Skyline with the help of Geoff from PMS. He answered all questions, had no hesitation in telling me details and supplied photo's and an honest assesment of the vehicle. The only damage that occoured was during shipping, and Geoff stated that it *COULD* happen, unfortunatly it did, and the TV in my car was busted up due to the Australian Wharfies...RRRRR..... Apart from that everything went smoothly, and I'm enjoying my Cheaper (than off the lot) Nissan Skyline. How often can you say " Yeah I imported that myself...." that should win the chickies over.... he he he....(unless you're a fat ugly bastard like me....) Cheers Loz
  9. It's a good way to see car's and value them online.... good to get a consensus of price and dealers... have fun Loz
  10. Well, Dont quote me on this, but i thought it had to be affixed to the car for rego, i could be wrong..... I'd be tracking that dealer down and demandinbg an explanation....
  11. so that would be 2 blue plate's... the Japanese build one and then the Aussie personal import one... is that the case equinoz??
  12. I was about to say, does a personal import have a plate fitted, that could be a reason why...
  13. Ouch.... better do what ice suggests....
  14. hmmmmm dont know.... i guess not cause one would have needed it to gain (the first) rego. So long as it stays within the pinkslip timeframe, before rego then I guess it might be ok.... Loz Enjoy the R33 GTST Loz:dj:
  15. A re bodied car would still need the (a) complaince plate... wouldnt it? to show that it meets australian standards and is legit right.... because the chassis numbers would not match..... that's what's throwing me off here. I'm unsure whether Imports and Aussie car's come under the same rule... with re bodieing.... Whats the lowdown boyz?
  16. GTR Ken has the lowdown on how it works.... I read some stuff about how Ghosting is done, and why, but not too much into the actual practise and how it works.... Seemed to me like that COULD have happened... but maybe not Loz
  17. re bodied cars is ghosting, and that is illegal.... I posted the stuff about DOTARS ..ice 180, Ylwgtr seems to think what i said was crap....:argue: But it is what i read about when i was researching skyline's before i bought one... I heard there was a big crack down on imports in Vic due to the company being found out... I'd get in contact with DOTARS and have a chat to them about the situation and see if they can offer some advice on what to to.... Loz
  18. Looks like General automotive discussions to me.....anyway Justjap in kirrawee they've got the shit.... or Unique auto sports.... Damn charade.... oh and DOE!!!!!!! gotta hate that.... best wishes for a speedy return to the roads... Loz
  19. I'd question the dealer about that one..... There should be a green plate =under the bonnet somewhere and a silver VIN number affixed to the firewall next to the original japanese VIN number (usually on the lip at the back) If a car is not complianced then it has been bought in illegally and if caught the Govt has the right to make you crush your car and then send the evidence report to DOTARS..... Go see the dealer and ask to see the RTA inspection report, Import Approval, and invoice.... they might not show you the invoice but the other one's should be no problem...I hope) Cheers Loz
  20. That's a tricky one.... My guess would be the price you bid PLUS some extra to make it to xxxFOB I bought mine through a broker and paid xxxFOB which was the final price in Japan, that included de rego, to have it taken to the wharf, booked on the ship etc etc etc. Ask the broker, id hope he wouldn't hide the end price cause you had paid him his fee to find you the car. With the damage, sorry to hear that, that was the case when you saw the car after all this time.... at least the wharfie's didn't break things like they did in mine... (i wont go into that, I've finally repressed those memories) I'd fix it and have fun...... but remember it for next time you go through the process. Cheers Loz
  21. Insurance is a Hassel, and will be believe me.... I'm 25 male and own a skyline and Quotes i got from different companies ranged from 3000-5000+ per year. With many little catches on the way.... I had not held insurance beore my skyline (hz Utes arn't worth insuring) so hence the high price as i had no "no claim Bonus" What I'm going to do (and many people will cringe when i say this) is take out Third Party Property, and put the best security system that i can afford in it. I know this is not the safest of things to do, BUT, my work has a Private lock up parking area with survellience, and i lock it up at home in the Garage. If im out in the skyline....i'm in it. if i have to go somewhere for a while and am going to be away from the vehicle...I take my Wife's car....or we both go... that way after a year or two of holding third party property, i have built up a "no claim Bonus" that will bring down the price. Other things you can do is take a defensive driving course, some companies look favourably on that, install immobilisers etc... and have lock up garage facilities. the advantage with third party is that someone else is covered if your unlucky/idiot and hit something/someone/many things. Sure it won't cover you, but if your sensible you should be ok.... I know accidents can happen, but you'll have to agree, 500 a year to 5000 a year is a little bit less on ye ol wallet. This is simply a suggestion, from someone that has "been there done that" on the buying front, a coulpe of small things..... bodykits can sometime's hide damage, different front ends etc (look for New Paint) dont believe the Odometer's (they are cracking down on it in Japan nowadays, but it was commen practise to "wind back" clocks before auctions... best way to tell is what the guy's have suggessted above...idle etc Cheers Loz
  22. the other name i heard for the japanese performance cars was... hirosheema Screamer....(spoken word) (Hiroshima screamer) I quite like that one
